For me the price difference was the deciding factor. My research found no complaints regarding SES other than turnaround times. For example my 787 RFI is $1295 at SBT plus they charge shipping both ways. SES 787 RFI rebuild is $949 they pay return shipping. Also as someone mentioned with SES you dont have to remove the PTO or mag housing. They will take care of that and return it with a new rotary valve, timed and include install gaskets. If someone needs an engine fast SBT is surely the way to go. But in my area our season is only a couple of months yearly. So I figured an 8 week turnaround in the off season and saving a few hundred bucks would be the way to go.
I had no idea 6 months later I would still be waiting and wondering. I think things are going to change at SES. Thanks in no small part to this Forum. I hope they continue to provide a quailty product and get the turnaround and communcation issues resolved. We as consumers need choices and competing shops to keep prices in check.

what does someone really save ??? over ses and sbt ??? ive looked at websites, seems to me like 100.00 -- maybe -- sbt gives you raves and bellows and oil fittings all new, shipping rates ok -- http://www.shopsbt.com/rates.htm -- also, if you pick up the phone, and call, someone actually answers - and then transferes to correct department - and you get motor in days
maybe for people up north, being closer
but alot of us here, just go there and get it ... has anyone ever been to ses ????
first time i went to sbt was at 8:00 am, when they open, was like 20 - 30 cars there, thought they were busy, was employees cars
