My SES Experience

Well it's been 6 years since SES rebuilt my 717 engine. Got my engine back. Ran about 40 gallons of fuel and engine stopped. SES said my oil injection failed even thou the injection unit bench tested per spec. Got the warranty engine rebuilt back. Converted to premix it ran for 15 minutes. Sent back again. This was the engine that ran for almost 6 years till it lost compression. Decided to rebuild it my self this time and this is what I found on the tear down. A WSM piston on the front and a SBT piston on the rear....? Plus 2 different types of rod clips. WTF..? I know some people have got good results from SES, not me. Extremely disappointed that during a so called no fault 2 year warranty they would do this with mixed sub parts. Just be careful

Did you ever figure out why you had the 2 failures after getting the initial engine from SES? I guess basically 3 failures if you count the first one before SES rebuild.

I've seen those snap rings on SBT built engines. They come off and the wrist pin drags a slot in the cylinder wall. I've taken apart 3 SBT engines and from what I've seen I wouldn't pay them $100 for one of their engines. SES has the last engine he is gonna get from me. Takes to dang long and I've had to work on the last 2 engines I got from him. I'm doing my own from now on.

Nope, Carbs rebuilt with all new Mikuni parts , Like I said it ran OK for 5+ years using premix. Just disappointed that there were mixed parts from a company that has a not fault 2 year warranty. I could have went thru SBT and got the same oh well. Lesson learned By the way not bashing anyone, just a heads up to research it for your self. I know some people got good results

Yep, Just kinda suprised to see that on an engine teardown. Coming from a PJS stand up modified 550 ski to a Seadoo is an learning curve.,

For sure, that is disappointing, you don’t expect that from a supposed respectable business, or anyone doing engine repairs.

I live less than an hour from SES and I was talking to the guy who owned the local dealer at the time (like 5 years ago) about rebuilding a 4 tec and I asked him about SES and made a bunch of noises and said he does good work and refused to elaborate any further lol
