nam, just to answer your question from the last page, (i was out of town for a wedding) yes, the gsx was picked up over the weekend, with kudo's to toro for taking care of that for me, i plan on meeting him this week at his convenience to move it onto my trailer and take it to the shop. I'm in his debt now, and i've officially received payback for my Good Samaritan work picking up a different (and better looking) GSX for SDBuddy. kudo's also to you for posting this up, i never would have noticed it otherwise. IMO that model (purple/red) was the ugliest GSX ever designed,

I agree, this thread has brought countless old skis back to perfect working condition by the new owners. By us joining together, we have bought skis for one another because of distance or being out of town, etc. For that I deeply thank Spim.
Yes, I love the red top on the black hull. I can't wait to see it in person next month.
Spim, what did you pay for the purple one?

$500 + Tip.

Sorry guys for the confusion. By "four prices I meant that I valued that old trailer at $1000 and he wants four thousand. I didn't even mention that this is his"reduced price". He listed it two weeks ago for $500 more. I like the red GSX the best but do like the purple and red better than some I've seen.

i would think someone in florida would be interested in this, it was posted in the "i wish I had the storage and money to buy up skis and get paid"

matt braley, you're a genius!!! and I think you know why. If you keep this up, you'll be the new "spim"

THANK YOU

laff @ nam.

I've been out of space for some time but I keep grabbing stuff, i need to stop !! Before the sun sets today i'll have that dam GSX in my back yard, and a challenger boat that will need to be stripped of all its goodies. Its going to be a long two weeks coming up, lots of extra nighttime work in store for me.

but fortunately I sold a ski last week so it created some new space in the garage, but I only have 20 days to get 3 hulls stripped, sold or crushed since I lose my extra storage from November to Feb.

voltage regulator.... BINGO, def the problem. Now i'm either unlucky or retarded, the gas is about 1 year old, so I got one of those harbor freight pumps to pump the gas out. Then one of the hoses disconnects from the pump and falls into the hose that connects the opening to the fuel tank. So I pull off the that hose, and with my luck, the siphon hose falls into the fuel tank. And there is all these huge particles in my fuel tank, as well as the fuel filter aparatus. So i want to clean out the gas tank, but how do I get it out? it looks like it's too big to get out the front, and there is like EVERYTHING blocking it from the back?

I have a blower that goes on my air hose that has a 1/4" barbed nipple on it. As you release air that will draw fuel up the hose to get the siphon going. Once you are down to the last of the nasties at the bottom of the tank then you can tie strap the 1/4' hose to a wood dowel and work it around until the tank is dry. There is a side effect of holding a potential flame thrower so I like some room and some privacy when performing this one.

i just used the long piece of 1/4" fuel line i had already bought to replace the tempo lines with. with the ski on the trailer, and the gas can on the floor, there is enough gradient to siphon the fuel out of the tank via the filler inlet. i learned some time ago that you can drop a long piece of fuel line into the tank, and hold your thumb over the end like a straw, then pull the hose out and stick it into the gas can. drained all the way down to the last bits of my tank, luckily there wasn't any big pieces of stuff in the tank, because i'm pretty sure that even on the GTX the motor would have to come out to get the tank out. If i had really wanted it out i probably could have pulled the hood off and tried a bit harder, but all i needed was a little bit of space to get to the fuel baffle.

siphon and drain as much as you can, then buy one of those pickle pickers from lowes for like $4 and some shop rags. shove a rag in there then swab around, pull it out, stick another rag, swab, pull, etc...
then pour about a half gallon of good gas in there, siphon, swab, repeat... that will get 99% of it.

A Pickle Picker....never heard of one. what is it, something like a Grandma "reach it pole" with a trigger and claws at the end?

Tim, did ya get my latest email?

is it called something different at lowes? I looked up pickle picker on google, and it's legit, but no finds on homedepot or lowes

yeah, The one at Bed, bath & beyond is only 8 inches long.....not enough to reach all of tank.
The picture of one on Amazon.... Now I remember as a Olive grabber thingy. I think we have one in the drawer someplace. But I like the PP name better. :) ....:)

Spim must shop at BB&Y or Kitchen Gadget, etc and his wife tells him it's Lowes for women.

sorry but I couldn't resist that :)

lol fu both...

i just call them pickle pickers, but the real term is "pick-up tool" or "retriever tool" they are about 24 inches long, very sturdy, at lowes, and they are about $5, also come with a magnetic attachment as well. just wander into lowes, i found them on an endcap near the nuts and bolts.

yes, pickle pickers do exist as well, and they're for getting little gherkins out of the bottom of the jar.

oh yea, i see them all the time, thanks gentlemen, I'm gonna pick one up today!

pun intended ? :)

but in all seriousness, aside from pulling the tank, its the really only practical way to clean it up as much as possible.

did I read somewhere that you could hook a shop vac up to the top, blow air in and force it out of the fuel lines ?

no pun intended, but now i read it again, that's a good one, i got one at harbor freight 3', only 1.99 and i had a 20% coupon in addition.

isn't the HF one the one that has the little claw ? vs the 3 prongs ? the prongs seem to grab and hold better... but...
it will probably still work just fine, i happen to see the same email you probably did today from HF and it was in there for $1.99 during their super coupon days or whatever those are.
