I say you'll be okay as long as you're not using 5200 sealant for this.

"3M 5200's tensile strength of 700 psi (pounds per square inch; the force necessary to pull the bonded pieces apart) means it can take more than 5 1/2 tons of force to separate a 4-inch stanchion base from the deck."

Good to know I have something picked to hang 5.5 tons stuff on my boat LOL.

I checked my pump oil today and installed the whistle-clean RAVES. The oil was dark green as opposed to the blue color so there was some water in it but not very much. Also there was some pressure released when removing the plug and a small volume of oil came out, so I guess that's b/c some small amount of water entered. I left the oil as-is for now, reinstalled the plug and put the nozzle back on, will change the pump oil during winterizing next month.

Cleaning the RAVES made a big difference again this time, same as last. Now back to 6850RPM as opposed to 6500~6600, picked up a couple hundred RPM and runs much smoother at 5200+ cruise, so at least one or both of the RAVEs were carbon fouled and hanging up.

Not sure if I can still bring the boat out this year. Pretty chilly here now.
Went out RC boating with kids today :-D Small little boat reaching about 15km to 20km / hour is amazing and fun.

What is the best to do on the boat in Winter? I don't think I will start anything cosmetic yet. Probably another 951 :-D

The best thing to do with any boat that's already fully paid for during winter is to sit back and be glad you're not making payments on something you can't use. :)

Otherwise, during winterization you should complete all the things normally necessary. Winter is good for repowering and rebuilding, though.

My winter maintenance - (Never remove the dust cover type of maintenance):
I installed a cigar lighter outlet just under the helm by my knee, for my spotlight or accessories such as air pump to connect. This power outlet is connected directly to the battery itself, so I use this port for the battery maintainer as well, while the battery switch is turned to off position. I usually leave the charging cord connected to the cigar lighter during winter and cover-up the boat. Every other month as a check to see if the battery is holding it's charge, I plug the maintainer into AC power.

Yes, I leave the battery in the bilge tray of the boat, I don't bring it inside the house.

Cigar lighter is good one for me.

We still need to do remote fogging system as well, I'm considering the fuel primer pump for this. So I don't have to remove all the contents of the rear compartment every time I need to fog! :)

Just be dumb here for a moment. Is it ok to drill two holes into the air silencer and install two plugs?

Right, I don't expect drilling a couple of small holes will negatively impact the performance of the flame arrestor. No plugs necessary, probably.

Another possibility might be to "T" into the accelerator or oil injection nozzles perhaps.

Don't worry about it, use the 518 in conjunction with the o-ring and it won't leak around the flange to let water in there. I don't trust those o-rings at all and won't assemble one without 518 on the flange as well. As far as the pipe plug threads are concerned 518 is perfect for sealing those, the only reason I use a fast set hydraulic sealant on the plug threads is often times I do a complete tune up, fuel system / carb rebuild and pump oil change as a same day service and those boats get splashed again at the end of the day and a fast set hydraulic sealant is a better option under those circumstances.

Somebody on other seadoo forums claimed 518 is old technology and doesn't work.
They said that 518 never harden and stay gummy for years.
I thought it should do a test to prove it's wrong.

So I put a bead of 518 on my vise and pushed a washer on the top. Waited for 9 hours.
The washer was stuck there well, but I was still able to get it out with one hand.
Where it was exposed to air still soft as it just came out of try tube. But between the flat surfaces, it hardened well. Here are the photos:

And it did exactly what it is supposed to do, good test btw I like that a lot. I've been back into a couple jet pumps I worked on earlier in the season this week to change the gear oil as part of winterizing and there were no leaks in any of them, that stuff does the job well.

What is the accelerator?

Is it almost a "engine safety" concern if we get into oil injection lines (why did you put "nozzles" here?)?

You deserve that ski, as much work and time as you put into the boat learning your way around it I can't think of a better home for it. It's the nicest one I've seen in a long time and I know you'll take care of it.

Simple primer would do the trick! just plumb it into the oil line and put the pump somewhere handy.

I fog after each run so pulling plugs is juts my routine but having primer with oil in it would make life easier.

Yep, yep, yep! I dunno how much volume the little seadoo primer has but I think it's easy to flood them with fuel using it so might be large enuff? Otherwise was thinking about a primer for a Lycoming in a Cessna, these are mucho grande larger!

Drill a hole somewhere and mount that sucker!

I was gonna wash it for you at some point, just haven't had five minutes of daylight free since it came home. My XP motor is back together and going in right now :)
