hahah yeah I saw that! totally nuts!

I was looking at a 16-18 footer, nothing to large, can be put in the garage and towed around easily...

what I see here on CL, is pure junk, no one takes care of their vessels here, no one... sad they look like crap only after a few years...
All the salt and brackish here. Gotta move closer inland where people have more money than sense and fresh water. Lots of like new vessels for dirt cheap.

Stealth hatch release!:D

For all the time I was under the engine hatch, I always had to uncover the boat to open the front storage lid and pull the latch release. There were time`s I needed to get in the back and had to go thru that whole ordeal and it is a big PITA with the full cover, etc etc.
So, I`m never going to use the tow pylon and made good use of it by converting it to the hatch release.
Had another cable that had a good latch end on it, had an old oil pump cable to steal the sheathing and threaded adjuster. Chopped down the tow pylon mast, and sleeve.

Drilled and tapped 1/4-20 into the pylon for a fastener for the end of the cable, slotted the sleeve for a plate for the cable and the rest you see in the pic. lots of measuring and checking a dozen times...

we`ll see, if it works, it works, and if it breaks I still have the original cable in place, just up out of the way...

I freaking love this idea, at the same time I would like to add a waterline remote for the onboard stereo system. What do you think?

so far we `ve only run the Trent and Neuse, we haven`t made it out to Pamlico sound yet. Just about made it to Havelock then the season ran out... I hope to make a run on the Cape fear and the intercoastal down that way next season...

Both of those are brackish. I highly recommend the intercoastal! There's some islands that are completely remote and the water is crystal clear. I grew up running up and down the intercoastal. Spent plenty of time on the Trent as well. Used to drop in in Pollocksville and take the boat into New Bern. You're pretty much in a boating paradise where you live right now. With plenty of maintenance and care you won't have much worry about salt. The yammi I have we had since new and was used primarily in salt it's whole life until I brought it up here a year ago.

absolutely! the more the merrier! we have to get jesse up here to!

Hellz yeah let's do it! I have knee surgery next week, but should be pretty good to go by summer time. Prolly 90% or so, which will be enough to play around on a ski.

I'm in. Let's set a date. I can swing by Lake Gaston afterwards and hang out with one of my good friends at His lake house.

Small world I have a good buddy that has a lake house there. He has two 95 xp 800s.

Suke,
Good luck with the ACL. :) I had ACL replacement a few years ago.

Andy how far are you from Wake Forest, NC.?

Looks like I may need to put my 96xp project on hold and get the Challenger upholstery project going.
Andy, who did your upholstery?

Last August my wife and I took the GTX DI to Gaston. We cruised the whole lake with my buddy and his wife on their Kawi.
That lake is pontoon central.

I love lake gaston! I only made it up there once this year. Thought I would make it up there a bunch more, but ended up working pretty much every weekend detailing this summer. Def won't be doing that next summer.

started on the trailer refinish. stripped the old winch, spare tire carrier, marker lights, will do the fenders soon, so I could prep for paint. I`m using Rustoleum Gloss white.
When the trailer is done, will take a good 3 coats, I`ll install new LED markers, slim line 80" trailer rear marker, the new F2 winch, tire carrier, etc etc. and go thru the wiring. Then I will look for a decent set of tires/wheels, these 3 yr old Kenda/loadstar tires are already shot/cracked...Shame...

then I can get back into the boat and get a jump on the upcoming season...

Pics please!! Merry Christmas.

I'm anxious to see what they will bring. There was just 4 1998 Speedster backs and bottoms that sold for $202, $186, $174, and $150 and the bow bottom and back sold for $105. I'll say they were in fair condition and needed a little cleaning. They yellow seats are the Holy Grail, I have NEVER seen any for sale in mint shape. The yellow always browns on the tops, at some point I'll be getting covers for mine. I love how they hug my spare tire, LOL. I know your not fond of them I'm curious if you drive with a vest on, I don't and I'm wondering if that is your reason for not liking them. I know I have tried to with my vest on and I was pinned to the steering wheel, I also do not have the sliding bases, only pivoting bases.

Hopefully you will get top dollar for the seats. Ever since the first time I sat in my seats I have wanted to change mine.
Andy, have you found any seats that you like?
Seems like everything I like is very expensive.
