Yes, just measure the back of the impeller, it should be roughly 3" iirc.

They look kinda rich, the Port left looks oil fouled. The rest look ok but a little to wet from fuel. Have you done plug chops yet? That's really the only way to tell. It could be fouled from just idling back to the trailer.

Not seeing any movement either Andy. Did you drop the hammer and watch them or just gradual increase in throttle passes?

So you're saying your raves aren't working? I winterized my boat yesterday and cleaned the RAVES, changed the pump oil and dumped some stabil in the tank. I was able to hit 50MPH on the dreamometer, and hit the highest RPM sine I've owned it, looked like 6800 on the tach.

I guess my raves weren't opening fully and cleaning the blades did the trick, apparently (I scrubbed every bit of carbon off them). I thought my jet pump was holding me back b/c it's not in the best of shape but hey, what else can I say?

as you can hear in the vids, it was an easy throttle up, no dumping to wot, my camera lady, The misses wouldn`t have been to happy if she and the camera went swimming... oh jeez, she`s right over my shoulder, just kidding! dinner is ready and I`m starved!

maybe I`m not understanding this Rave thing, when running WOT, shouldn`t they be open?

however once I got home and cleaned up the boat, I fired up both engines and gave them a quick rap of the throttle and the starboard engine did nothing, but the Port engine, The PTO rave jump for a brief second...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you want those raves open at WOT, if the exhaust port timing is off then you won't make full potential power.

Andy,
Have you thought about getting an extra set of red caps. Drill a hole directly in the center of the red caps and then fabricating a bracket to hold a dial indicator. Mount the indicator directly above the rave cap with the indicator stem inside the hole with the indicator point sitting directly on the valve stem. (black cap)
Crank it up and jack the throttle to see if the raves are indeed moving and just how much via the indicator dial.
With a set up like the above, you can then set the red caps on several different settings and record the RPMs when the valve opens, thereby finding the perfect setting.

Just a thought. I love R&D!! :)

Why couldn't you just glue a piece of plastic onto the top of the rave...drill and tap a set screw to hold the indicator.........got to give this some more thought after the meeting that I am late for. :)

Glad you found the problem. Now, where are you going to set the raves? All the way in? Half way out? All the way out?? :)

Edit: Just read your other thread and got the answer. Keep up the good work.
