What I did to my 4-tec boat today...

Good luck with the anchor...I think you may need more than luck. A little practice with docking/mooring is in order.

I learned a long time ago, "the more I practiced the luckier I got."

i bought a Cooper Anchor (the large one) and a Boat Loop today. i wanted an anchor that won't damage the hull. i got the Boat Loop because i suck at docking/mooring. i hope it helps.
It's not hard to get good at docking. Here is some bit O'advice to help you get better.
1) Neutral is your friend. Go in and out of neutral to control speed.
2) keep your changes small. The more radical the change the bigger the correction
3) Use straight lines, use distance to get the boat straight and keep it straight. Say four boat lengths. If you turn as docking then you have to make a bigger correction see (2)
4) Practice with nobody around
5) Pay attention to current and wind. You need to know which way the current/wind is pushing towards or away from the dock. If towards, then go into neutral and drift into the dock see (1)

Go to the ramp in the middle of the week and do NOTHING else but practice launch, retrieval and docking. When people are around and you are learning it will put SUBSTANTIAL pressure on you. And in reality, it is YOU that puts the pressure on you. You are so worried about doing it wrong that you will most likely do it wrong. Once you get comfortable, drive it like you have done it a thousand times before. Approach with confidence and dock it. With most "Jet" type items you need headway and or the impeller engaged in order to steer. So for this reason jet items have a learning curve to see how they react when moving forward but not in gear and turn the wheel. Then try it in reverse, ect ect..

Thanks. It's a Sony Action Cam. I tracks location with a GPS receiver and then overlays it using their software. I like it a lot.

Have Fun...I'm on Lake Houston 75% of the time and usually the river the other part. I have land plans tomorrow. I have 27 hours on the boat in the water about 300 sitting in it in my garage...lol.

Not today but yesterday I installed a new wear ring, Solas impeller, cut off and smoothed what was left of my damaged sharks teeth...

Maybe today I will get to test it out.

Has anyone tried to make or have any ideas on how to made a floating pier that you can put a jetski and small 16 ft boat up on?

Let me know how that impeller does. I was watching videos on changing the wear ring and I have seen other people mention the impeller on here. Some people were concerned with RPM range but I guess that would be normal when you change internal things!

In Florida we have a few cold days but boat most of the year. Only had a few minor problems this year. The the guys here help diagnosis and I fixed them. One was with the Start/Stop switch that I replaced. I had my 2008 Kavaran trailer rebuilt last week. I boat mostly in salt water so I had more problems with my trailer then boaters that use their boast in fresh water. So now I'm ready for a trip to the Florida Keys. Probably go some times in November after the end of hurricane season.

Sounds awesome!!!!!

Yesterday I took out all the carpet screws and filled the holes with some bath caulking. I bought some hydro-turf and if the caulking has dried I'm going to attempt to put in the turf. Pictures will follow soon. (If I can figure out how to post them)

Good luck! Are the screws just into the fiberglass? Or is there a nut on the bottom side?

Just in the fiber. Looks like they used self tapping screws. I only put the filling in to keep water from maybe getting in it. I'm not too sure how much the hydroturf will cover.

Continued my quest to figure out why I don't get a more consistent engine syncing. Swapped the fuel pump connections and will see how that does on Friday.

Also did a compression test on both engines. Pretty consistent across all cylinders. P3 was the outlier, but still within 10% of the other cylinders.

I had the boat t the lake today with the new impeller.

7200 RPM - 7300 RPM was max revs.

At 7200 with my dad and me in the boat (400 lbs), 48 MPH average off the speedo. It hit as high as 52 and some of the readings were 46.

I think it would do 54 MPH with the old prop at 7200. Bear in mind that I ground off the Sharks teeth.

How do I get the boat to rev to 8000+ RPM? I rolled over 20 hours on it today.

Alright so I got the Hydro-Turf in! Didn't take super long. The hardest part was cleaning the area and not drowning in my sweat from the humidity today!

The first and second show some of the holes I sealed. I gave it 48 hours and it's still kind of soft. Whatever holes are still showing I am going to go back over after the weekend.

The piece in the middle seemed to be slightly longer on the right. Depending on my OCD I may take a razor to it.
