What I did to my 4-tec boat today...

See, I told you so. Seadoos are great boats but never took mine to a Pizza place yet. That's on my bucket list.

Dow Corning Molykote 111 arrived, so I did the sealing procedure on the coil packs. Cleaned out the Swim Platform storage compartment. Next up: figuring how to get the bilge clean near the drain plug.

I also learned that the carpet/mat in the ski locker is removable. It was a nasty wet mess from the time we bought the boat. I tried to clean in last year when we bought it with no luck. Tonight I was adding some clips to hold the ski pylon right below the other table legs in the ski locker, lamenting how nasty the mat was, and thought "I wonder how well this mat is glued in?" The joy I felt when it lifted up easily. Getting it off the boat without making a mess was a bit of fun, but now it is clean (pressure washed with purple power cleaner), and slung over the trailer frame to dry overnight. Of course, I cleaned out the floor of the ski locker as well.

Not sure why I had never thought of trying to remove it before. I have assembled a few pieces of leftover DryDeck material that I'm going to put into the bottom "v" of the locker where the dean hole is. Hopefully that will aid in the flow of water out of the locker.

I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

Wiped it down yesterday and made it ready for transport to our lake house soon, took the pwc’s out last weekend and had great fun. Still cold in the water, about 40F

Put some new graphics on it this winter, the old ones were pretty worn and beat up.

Wow! That looked really good. That is some serious effort, there.

I installed a $40 Bluetooth dongle onto my stereo. Now I don't have to hunt for the Aux input miniplug when I want to play music from my phone.

That's a good idea. I need something like that. As I learned this weekend it can be a very bouncy ride in the bay where I live.

I added a new stereo and speakers to the boat over the weekend. Sounds pretty good. Just need to fine tune it.

Hauled the boat to the coast this past weekend for two weeks of vacation. Hit the coast with 57 hours on it. We'll see what it is when we leave.

Cursory check of the engines/bilge (oil, connections, etc...). Loving the on-board charger I installed earlier this year. Installed the charger on the port side in the engine compartment. Installed a port on the rear deck, opposite the stereo remote on the swim platform.

Hello everyone, I wanted to chime in and list "what I did to my 4tec boat today"...so I have a 2005 Challenger 180 SC and over the winter we pulled the motor and completely rebuilt it along with the supercharger. We got the motor put back in and it fired up, she runs great. Had to install a new fuse box (the one on the starboard side, down next to the driver) because it wasn't communicating properly with the ECU. My tach guage was bouncing all over the place along with other guages on the instrument panel (that's how I came to replace the fuse box). Next I have a new Bimini top to install along with blue diamond cut hydro-turf to match the boat.

I am very much interested in your rebuild. Did you do a thread on it? I am one engine lift away from getting my motor out of my boat. I would love to conserve more about your rebuild process.

Hi, thanks for your intrest. No I have not done a thread on the rebuild. If I hadn't ran into these new complications while trying to get back on the water I may not have even came to this forum...just because everything would be going smooth and I wouldn't have thought about it. I think these forums are great though for people who like to dive into these things themselves. I'm curious as to why you will be rebuilding? The reason I ask is because I didn't even need to rebuild mine. I had water getting into the motor sumhow and pulled the motor out, we already had the motor out of the boat when we found the real problem and decided that we were too far along to turn back.

My engine lost power and oil went into the bilge. I am so close to pulling the engine. In case it really does need a rebuild to get it working again.

what was the real problem

I didn't really do anything to my boat today except ride it. Here is a map of our excursion. 76.5 miles ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433559620.116380.jpg

Also, got the boat out of the water after two weeks at the coast. Ready to drive it home tomorrow.

what was the real problem

After pulling the motor and starting the teardown I took the exhaust manifold off to find that a hole had worn in the water jacket (I assume from vibrations between the manifold and exhaust pipe). After sitting for a while 45 min to an hour the hole was letting water sit on top of the cylinders and causing it not to start. It wouldnt cause any problems in short time stops only when stopped for longer periods of time.. She left me stranded 7-4-13 & we're just now weeding out all the bugs from the rebuild. Last year one "Platinum Certified Seadoo Dealer" had a tech that wanted to pull the motor back out and replace the stator, I pulled a corroded fuse rite in front of him and decided to do if all myself because after 5 months of talking to technicians and doing my own research I figured I already knew more than they could tell me.
