Nice!!! I bet you can ask SBT to check the invoice and see if they bought carb kits at the same time. Does it still have grey lines?

Just got off the phone with sbt and they had no record of the motor in my ski being sold...... Said it was built 1/09 and the guy I bought the ski from didn't purchase the ski till 4/10. Oh well at least it has compression

i wonder if it was one of the backdoor motors they "misplaced" a while back, although I thought that was earlier than 09, but I forget..

Had some motors slide out the back huh. I wouldn't think one would make it to IN, but who knows. I have owner registration all the way back to 09 from IN. The last owner was supposedly the one who put the motor in. No big deal as it seems to be fine. Just gets the investigator side of me going. Only thing that concerns me was it was sitting outside in 20 degree weather with no antifreeze. The engine drain line was empty so hopefully the block isnt cracked. Even if it is and I have to spend $1k on it I'm still alright on it money wise. Ill know this weekend after the fuel system is rebuilt.

I don't think I can wait THAT long. I'm gonna get some friends together and take out my fleet the first day it hits 85 here in NC :)

You got it man! I hope I can find the $$ to build my modded XP by then :) I have a couple other friends with boats too, so we're gonna have some epic lake parties this year. What's wrong with your XP? If you want a hand, let me know.

Nothing theoretically wrong with it. Doing a semi resto on it. So need to put it back together at this point.

Got your PM, but your inbox is full.....so can't respond.

Got a quick question for you guys...last summer I bought what appeared to be a good deal...a 97 SPX with a rebuilt engine and pretty clean overall. But I didn't look carefully enough and I found out it was patched on the bottom of the hull (I know I should've seen it). Anyway, I redid the patch job as the one who did it made a pretty shi**y job. Of course, the inner foam was well soaked with water...I removed what I could and glassed over it (yes I know...bad idea...). All of this to ask do any of you know how much more all of this water logged foam weight compared to a dry hull? I'm contemplating finding another hull to switch everything from mine but these are pretty hard to find across the border...especially the hull only.

I actually got to ride today for the first time this year. Yep it was like 50 degrees, but myself and two of my buddies I ride with went on a random craiglist adventure. My buddy ended up bringing home a clean 04 RXP. This was my first time being on a 4 stroke and I have to say it was badass. Turned 8100 rpm and gps'd at 67 mph. Had a slight cavitation out of the hole, but not enough to hit the rev limiter. Would I replace the XP with one? No probably not, but I would sell my SPX, GTX, and have one parked on the trailer next to my XP! HELL YES!!!! On the way home I kept nagging him saying "you havent' bought a riva thru hull exhaust yet? HAHA!

yip, they can mock those "small boats" all they want, but i'd love to have both an xp and a nice rxp for different days. They might not be as much "fun" but they sure are comfortable and fast :)

You can look up the dry weight in the specs. Sux that you are in Canada I got 3 XP hulls I dont want to throw but have no use for.

Where are you at in Canada. I am in Michigan, 20 minutes from the detroit bridge/tunnel. If you want a free 1997 spx hull you can have it. When I say hull it is just the hull. Everything else has been stripped clean

Yep I wouldn't trade the XP but I've been trying to trade my spx and gtx for it all day haha!!!! My buddy called the dealer in Nashville today and got all the service records on it till 20 hours ago and the report was good. I can ride it pretty much anytime I want so no biggie on getting denied on the trade. Pics of said RXP

Damn...sometimes I wish I lived elsewhere! :/ Thanks for the offer though!

I'm in Quebec city, which is roughly 11 hours from you! But I always wanted to go watch a detroit redwings game....Maybe it's time I call a couple of friends and make a small road trip! You're keeping the hull for how long?

I am a proud owner of a highly modded '97 SPX. I just picked up a '96 XP with a trailer off of craigslist for $500 on my bday. The guy says it needs a carb rebuild kit and a battery. Nothing is like an X4 110. It makes everything else seem boring. Let the modding and semi-restoration begin. I couldn't be any happier to pick up my 2nd X4 110!

Ever seen a 787 removed from a 96 thats this clean? The thing blows 147 per hols, has never been opened, and looking in through the exhaust it all looks mint!

What it really comes down to is if the owner trapped water inside the hull without venting it, and also how corrosive the water was.

More often than not I see them about like that. Its one of those signs on what kind of life the machine has had. I also look for rusty steel hardware and other shadetree fixes.

Hey guys, I finally got the chance to join the X-4 club, and boy what an adventure it has been!

I saw a deal at a local dealer for a 96 XP for 900ish, so I thought, "Man, thats a pretty good price for a dealer, heck that a pretty good price for anywhere!" so I gave the guy a call initially about financing, set up an appointment to take a look at the ski.

Now in order for the rest of this post to make sense I have to describe the ski I was looking at. This XP had been stripped of all of its decals, and had a 96 decal plastered on either side and on the rear (Just the numbers 96, the stock decals were nowhere to be found.) So I'm going into this to look at that ski.

This is where things got really interesting. When I met the guy to go look at the ski, He takes me in front of this almost mint 96 XP, All original decals, minimal fading on the plastic, clean paint with no real apparent scratch damage, decals were even in reasonable shape for an almost 20 year old ski! Here's the funny thing; the ski I had originally went to look at was sitting right behind it!! He lifted the seat and I took a gander inside, no grey fuel lines, carbs look spotless, and the best part; the MPEM worked! (got burned on a 97xp not too long ago.)

There had to have been a mix-up somewhere because the guy pulled the stock number directly from the ad (I had to tell him where to find the 900 dollar ski on the website LOL). He said that this ski was originally listed for 1,500 but since I caught the ad for 900, they were going to honor their price.

We wheeled and dealed with him and I got a broken 97XP off of my hands for a running 96XP for 410 dollars. We're going to pick it up sometime next week (Long story, I didn't think I was gonna get it at all, and he called me back, asking for an offer after we had already got home.)

I'll put some pictures up of it when I get it home. For my personal use I think the 96 XP will be more fun than a 97XP. and I now have two running skis in my fleet haha. I'm going to be sure to get a compression test done on that ski before I take it home, I don't want to get burned again lol.
