Yup they are not as cheap as a used set, but a new set of OEMs will set you back over $200 too...and those Monkey ones are just as worthless. Rhaas are guaranteed for life.

Plus, even as a small company he supports the sport.

You guys are killing me! I'm busting my butt until Aug 17, to graduate college. No X-4 ripping for me until then. You had a nice pair of boats to kick you up a huge double up wake! My modded X-4 is almost ready, can't wait for its maiden voyage! It's getting ported now hehe! Shit now I need another mod part. Tonka give us a price through you for the urethane mounts. And if we get a group buy you think we could get a better deal?
EDIT: This is my real username not doc12. I will now be using this one.

Oh and some more X-4 porn!!!! Make sure to turn on HD and full screen it!

Awesome video man! I really like the color scheme of your ski. Did you paint the hood yourself? It looks great, i would like to try and do a multi color job on mine.

Also, I see you guys wear gloves and shoes. My buddies and I keep breaking bones in our hands/feet from bad landings and I think some nice gear would provide some protection. What type/brand of gear do you guys wear? Thanks

Alright Minnetonka and other experienced X4 crew members. Currently I have a complete 98 SPX that I am building as well as my modded 98 XP. Is it worth the effort to swap the fuel sending unit from the 98(I heard they have a larger hose size) into the 96 as I plan on adding 46 MM Buckshots in the future. Would I also need to swap the gauge or can I use the 96 gauge? Also is it worth the effort putting the 98 waterbox into the 96? I am trying to build the ultimate stock and modded 96 XP.

Its not needed....but what the hell right? If you wanna try every trick in the book...thats one of them. I personally just run buckys with 1/4" and each carb has its own pump...which is also prob overkill too.

On the WB...its again one of those things Bill O mentioned for best performance. It just breathes slightly better.

Didnt paint the hood...bought it that way then got the seat and mats. White and black w/ silver trim tape on the seams. From what I am told...all a paint guy needs to do is add some flex agent to the paint to keep it from cracking. Even still...its starting to chip off in a few places.

Jetski specific gear is nice but it doesnt hold up very well. I am currently using Jetpilot boots and gloves which in the 2nd year are starting to tatter. My bro just bought a set of the gecko Jettribe boots and they are sick...although they should be for $100. I know a lot of the pole riders like using wrestling booties or even skate shoes. I just dont like how much water they hold.

I think the most important "gear" is mats...those stockers are a recipe for broken ankles. Obviously hydroturf is very effective and works great...but also consider calling Gary at Jettrim for some crazy nice mats. He just started using a new material he has dubbed " Shaved Vag" that is super soft, super grippy, and super durable. He will add ribs and can also make some for the sides too that have lifters embedded in them. As you can guess though....your talking over $200 for these ultra trick mats! If you do order from Jettrim please make sure to mention me....Nick. I dont know if it will get you anything...but it def cant hurt!

yes its been done, very involved project, and a money pit, but if you have the time/ability and money, then its a great ride ! You can even put a 1050 in there if you really wanna get silly.

Wow that's crazy do you know about the speed would be?

you can get 70 with a 951, but its not about top speed, its about needing bionic strength to hold on when you jam the throttle.

you can get 72+ with a big bore, and same problem, you want that, like the 951 for the absolutely sick midrange power that you will get, it literally jumps out of the water from a stand still.

That would be awesome....

Maybe one day, I'll get to build a 951 X4.
Here's my first seadoo! I miss her already!

Hey hey now fellas, there are other ways! Don't rule out the fire breathing 787. Until you learn how to tune that monster 951 from The Wayniac, Justforfun, Joe Stang, etc........I'ma gonna getcha!(when I learn how to tune those fire breathing 787's of coarse)

So you can get 72+ with a big bored 787 but you have to be solid enough to hang on.
And if so wouldn't that be a lot less expensive and easier than get a 951?
Also if you could go 72+ with a bored 787 would the throttle be jumpy because I have noticed and idk if mine is just screwed up or needs to be toon because when you hit about half throttle and you give it a little more it seems to want to jump in to almost like
An overdire type of thing but agin either I'm crazy or my ski is screwed up...

That is your rave valves opening and it is perfectly normal.

65 plus on a X4 would cause myself to need a change of swimming trunks haha

Well it's not that easy and not gonna quite be that fast. The 787's are stock bore but will have high compression, race fuel, fancy timing, and a probe on everything to help tune it just right. The Superstock has porting to the jugs and case.

I think about 65mph is the limit because if you gear it taller then your bottom end will suffer. The top speed X4 war is over since Bill Oneil went 81mph on Mel Miller's ski. For me, I still get that "giggle factor" every time I hit 60.

yes, exactly,, mid 60-s up to 67-68ish is pretty close to the max for your average guy, bill is in a world all by himself, for me... i'm very very happy with 60-61, but I get there VERY fast... (at least by MY standards)
with that said,,, getting to 60 with a properly set up 951 will make me look slow
getting to 60 with a big bore and somebody at some point will ask me if I have a 717 in there :( because I don't even belong in the same race with a big bore, i'm in the kiddy pool !

Don't forget, the X4 hull is not designed as a speed ski, the wishbone hull is a better choice, and dam near every other hull that SD designed since then, the x4 is a jumper and always will be, going over 65 on the X4 IMO is a tad crazy.

but ya, i feel fast, but i'm just a pile of dog chit compared to the guys you mentioned above matt :) and i've beenon JFF's ski, it actually is scary to ride, I was more than ready to get back on my little moped after 5 minutes on that beast.

Lol I see where you guys are going with this...
Basically the x4 is designed to be a fun ski for jumps and tricks and when at higher speeds it gets a bit crazy
Right???
