sorry... carry on...

Wackyman the Zoolander reference should have covered it. I mean Ferrari, Blue Steel, Magnum, Le Tigre? It's all the same look, am I taking crazy pills?
Seriously though, the left turn phenom is kinda like the lean rear cylinder one(there is debate about why it happens). This is the reason the Mikuni's were rotated 90 deg. by the factory. Bottom line is that a hard left is when your fuel system is being taxed the hardest. This means for you that a filter or fuel valve may be clogging up or an air leak in the filter bowl or fuel valve/loose hose on fittings? Anyway, you should probably start a thread for it if it persists and let the gurus get to the bottom of it.

Fas4u89- I feel that a $1500 96XP should be clean, charged, working trim and gauges with no other hang ups. At least close to that because "dead battery" can be code for a plethora of other issues hiding right beneath the surface.

so you don't know how to fix it?

although the occasional problem gets solved in the x4 thread, its more of a general thread, not dedicated to specific fix's for specific ski's problems, its best to start a new thread, it will get more attention, and increase the likelihood of a fix.

Here's some X4 love on a local river we ride on from Saturday. I have some KILLER GOPro vids from the trip also. I'll post them when there edited. We went right at 40 miles and as you could imagine the little XP was on vapor when I we got back to the dock. Its a fun ride and this was the first time we have rode it this year due to the drought. Its about 4 1/2 foot deep and the shallowest point right now. Its usually around 7 ft to 8 ft. The best part is the water is like glass! I apologize for the shitty screen cap. I couldn't resist posting it

i had helped my brother put a factory pipe on his 720 x4 hull. wheni was testing it i needed to see if it sizzled, so i was comming in at full throttle and shut it down at least 70 meters from shore, it had enough momentum to beach itself 5 feet on the beach! his 720 also keeps up with my dad's GTX 800, my stock 800 xp is still faster by 1 mph :)

lol money to burn..eh I dont know if I would go that far. But I would like to get some more out of her if possible. Is the performance gains from those type of mods worth it?

yes and no, depends on how much you value money

in my experience a new impeller/nozzles is the best performance gain per penny.
pipe is 2nd.
water injection 3rd
then you can get into flame arrestors, carbs, head.

i'd put buckshots down on the list, they are expensive, and IMO important only after you've gotten silly with all the other mods.

I agree with this. Since i installed the prop, nozzle and intake grate, my spx will holeshot my rx every time and stay ahead unless i let off, as long as my trims in the right position. I can't tell where it is half the time and if it's all the way up I "bury" the ski on take off and go no where.

"Buckshots" could mean a lot of things. Mikuni based or billet? 44's or 46's, spigot, flange mount, etc. I like them all cause I just love AM parts. The Mikuni based Buckshots are pretty darn reasonable on the used market because folks seem to favor the Novi's. Pay no attention at all to stock jets when setting up Buckshots. Mine are 125 lows, 115 highs(go figure). This "reverse jetting" is often necessary to beat the bottom end bog when the Buckshots have the bomb sight removed(replaced) and are used with free flow flame arresters.

Coffman made two pipes for the 787. The recreation(REC) and the "Signature Series". I have read that the Signature series was the second and the successful attempt of a pipe that makes good power. I mean real good power! It is the only pipe to win a National Tour or World Final event besides the Factory Spec2.............Oh that is besides my beloved Neptune pipe of coarse:blush:. I sniped a Signature Coffman cheap and I was happy and surprised at how feather light and small it is. I have not tried it yet myself, it's my Neptune backup.

Ah fair enough. Aftermarket on the ski as of now is: R&D flame arrestors, R&D 85/88 nozzle, R&D ride plate/trim tabs, Solas X0 prop, R&D intake grate, Worx sponsons, primer kit and renthal bars with UMI switches.

that's a nice list... the next thing on my list would be a spec pipe and water injection, then you're ready for takeoff !

That sounds like a fine ski! If it runs well then I would not go for the carbs if they were given to you because it could just open up a tuning nightmare.

i'm with you matt, i'm one of those guys that fear the AM carbs, its a whole new thing.
with stock its pretty much spelled out for you,, a couple tweeks and your ready to rock, but once you start getting fancy and buy yourself a set of carbs for $300 plus.. the fun is just beginning !!!

it can get quite complicated , (complicated is a nice word for 3 afternoons on the water tweaking about 9 things 9 different ways, and taking free license in abusing the English language !)

IMO they are a big pain in the azz, cost a bunch and only add that little extra punch, so you should only go crazy on carbs only if you've added everything else and your still not satisfied. IMO AM carbs for the most part cross the line from the average rec rider to more of a hardcore rec rider that is really trying to squeeze a ski to its limits. and you also have to be a semi experienced tuner/wrencher or your opening up a nightmare there as well.

if I was the above poster with that list of mods, the pipe, water injection, and hard jetting the box are most definitely the next 3 steps, way ahead of carbs, and you WILL notice the difference.
