used to have a 96 xp! that was my first ski... and now i want one again.... they are so much fun! but I'm loving the comfort and stability of my rx.... :/

I finally got my carbon fiber hood on. I had to paint the gauge pod cover because it was a lighter silver which was fine, but it had rainbow bass boat flake in it so that had to go. Figured I'd try the gunmetal look. I can always change the color if I don't like it.

Matt - the hood looks great.

I finally got some free time to work in the garage. Skis are almost complete. Just need to finish installing the tachs.

Looks sharp! Are you guys using tachs from another year xp or boat? I wondered if I bought one myself, if I could get one to plug right into my harness.

Im going to be listing my two X4s for sale in the next few weeks. Keeps your eyes peeled on the classifieds for a very clean 99 SPX and 95 XP800. Going to miss them but looking to buy a new GTR215 and I have too many skis

So I finally listed and actually sold an X4(96SPX). It was truly an extra and I was able to pass it along with a beat up double trailer and a faded 92Xp for $1800. It went quick and smooth and felt great to free up a little space around here. So while in the mood I started prepping a faded ole 95Xp racer for sale(trading AM sponsons and tabs for the stock ones). I check CL to scope the competition and try to decide on a price and what do I see? Well it's a 96XP on a single trailer! The guy says it needs a starter and is only asking $600. Now you guys know I can't have that X4 deal clouding up the Seadoo listings when I'm looking to pass another salt turd. So I'm heading over there tonight to "take care" of it.

More info required if it is indeed an XP800. :)

pm me with pics & price on the 99 spx will you ?
i'm in Florida but I have a buddy in CT that might be able to grab it for me and bring it down on his next summer trip.
i've been looking for a 99, and only a 99.

Nice! Maybe I'll look at one for myself. Always wanted a tach on mine.

There nice and pretty cheap. I just stuck mine right above the seat. I wanted to mount it next to the gauges but the wire is not long enough. I'll probably make a plate of some sort and mount it on the bars. I was hitting 6750 all day today in this 100 + ky heat. I thought that was pretty good. My boat will turn 6900 in the low 80's on slick water.

you can do a handlebar mount

or a dash mount (i put mine on the dash to the right of the dess and toward th emiddle, like skew says,

either work fine

Where did you get an used one?

I'm running a jet dynamics on my xp and I love it. I stay hooked up in all kinds of chop. I'm still hitting 56 on smooth water also. (Gps verified. Stock ski)Put a wanted ad out on the pwc forum and you'll find one pretty quick.

It seems that the Jet dynamics grate is a favorite of the racers too. They are numbered to measure the aggressiveness of the scoop(16, 17, 18, etc.) Did you happen to notice which # you had? I am very happy but suprised to hear that it didn't rub off your top speed.

I brought home the 96XP last night for $500. It's fresh water and 100% original right down to the grey fuel lines. However robbing my feeling of victory is the fact that he was a nice guy who had a son my son's age. He just paid $800, rode it a few times then"just clicked". A local boat place told him he needs a starter and it would be $400! I feel guilty cause when I throw a good battery in it it's gonna fire right up. Oh well, they wouldn't have made it too long with those grey lines, etc.
Spim, I agree on the 99. Probably much more rare than the XP800 and has all the upgrades.

yes thats another option., in addition to just a straight handlebar mount and the dash mount you could mount a plate (although not necessary)

I don't have a pic handy, but I have a friend with two tto tach's mounted on a plate on his handlebar, i'll be riding with him wednesday and I can get a pic and or I can probably get a link on the plate he used, it turned out great !

Cool Spimothy

Matt I looked at my grate and didn't see a number on it. Do you know where it would be stamped at?

I'm planning on going out and ripping it up on the 4th. Hopefully my carb parts will be here by tomorrow. I rebuilt mine with sbt kits and now i'm fighting a flooded condition when I try to start my ski that wasn't there before. You have to hold the throttle at about 1/4 to get it going. Once it starts it runs perfect. I read one of Dr Honda's old post where he talked about aftermarket diaphrams holding the needles slightly open. I'm going to install new mikuni diaphrams, formed o-rings, pin/needle arms, and my original needle and seats to get rid of most the aftermarket parts. Hopefully that fixes my problem! Fingers crossed :willy_nilly:

Can any of you guys confirm my conclusion?

Hey guys just wondering if you guys could help with a slight problem I have been having with my ski.
When I first start it after its benn sitting any where from 2-12 hrs it will go full throttle for mabe 20 seconds then it will sloww right down to about 1/4 throttle and if you try to go past 1/4 throttle it'll rev up and shake the whole machine and this will go on for couple of minutes then suddenly it'll work fine.
Does anyone know what is wrong and/or what I can do about?????

Sounds like the same thing mine was doing at the first of the season. Next time its in the water leave the seat off, run it, and look to see the the water regulator on top of the waterbox is leaking. If it is that is your problem. Its dumping way to much water in the exhaust and your motor can not overcome the back pressure.

Can I Join Your Gang?

I have been watching my friend's neighbor's skis get progressively worse over the years in the driveway but never saw them home. Last weekend I saw him for the first time and introduced myself and asked if he wanted to sell them. He said they were worth about $5,000 and I think great, one of these guys. He says he can't ride them due to medical reasons and he keeps asking what I would offer and he says they were winterized a few years ago and when the covers tore he just lost interest. I told him the condition is unknown so I offerd $500 and he said he was thinking $600. YES! I held at $500 and he agreed so I took home a 1996 XP for $500 but I had to agree to take a 1996 WaveBlaster 2 and a double LongRun trailer for free. They are going to need some elbow grease to get clean but after washing the dirt off they already look better. The XP has good spark and 150psi in each hole. My first step is to replace the fuel lines and carb kits to see if it will fire. The VTS is bad and the trim and speedo gauges are shot. The blaster looks good and the compression is good too.

Take a look at the decals on the XP I like them and have never seen them before. Any ideas? They look like the 1999 SPX but they do not say SPX, they say Bombardier. The dash also says XP Limited. Could they have been a factory accessory? Sucks they are going to have to come off to polish the yellow.

Also do you think the seat foam can be saved? Am I going to have to find a complete replacement seat?
