Nice ski! You should do the carbs/fuel lines if not done and sell it here in Canada and get at least $1000 more for it.

Just finished replacing the fuel lines and cleaning the internal filters Saturday actually. I only paid a grand for it with a very nice shorland'r trailer so the smart thing would be to throw it back up for sale but seeing as how clean and rare this 95 xp800 is I plan on keeping it for a while.

nice price, i'd recommend you consider removing the trim tabs & sponsons, replace with stock and ask the same price. (those two items are easy to remove and have value)

I'd be interested in sponsons and tabs if you did take them off. I'd even mail you back my stock ones if you wanted.

Thank you for the advise! I'll check around locally and see if I can find a cheap set.

ur welcome, my guess is you can get x4 stockers really super cheap !!! (dummy me, i should have offered you $150 + send you my stockers)

That is the most expensive grate I have ever seen. Different grates offer different advantages. They also sometimes come with some side affects. EG.. if you ride a small X4 hull on choppy water and have trouble keeping your pump hooked up then a more aggressive grate will scoop more water in and help with this. The down side is that with more scoop is more drag and you can easily loose a couple mph on top.

Lol, if you convert to a 13 gallon tank will the storage bin still fit?
I saw a micro touch rev limiter but I have no idea what it is

the big tank fits in there, but just barely...the engine has to go... and you really have to shove it in there.. and modify the fuel filler, i used 3 feet of flex fuel filler hose, (quite pricey) a small 1 1/2" pvc 45, double clamped and another foot of regular fuel filler hose to connect it to the tank.

282.jpg

the fuel filler had to run around the back and opposite side to keep it flowing smoothly and avoid backsplash when filling at the pump, it was the long way around but it back splashed when i tried to make the tight turns and stay on the right side of the hull.

283.jpg

the bucket modification was quite simple, i found an old nasty bin rather than experiment with a nice one.

drill out the rivets holding the purple storage tubes, stick a piece of tape to get a straight line, and cut through the bin the whole way around, as I said b4, it will almost slip back together, and once I heated one corner to make it pliable enough it slipped in fairly easily with an extra pair of hands, 4 rivets and a coat of paint and it looked great. 15 minutes including the first coat of paint, added 2 coats of white appliance epoxy and it looks brand new !

Invaluable pictures there Tim...glad to see that tank go to use!

ty sir, and i'm glad you had one in stock ! and now that my vts has been removed the rear of the hull is a lot cleaner as well. I used a $6 1 1/4 bilge plug from ace hardware's marine dept to plug the hole. (top center of pic)

had a buddy paint the waterbox and head for me while I was getting the spec pipe powder coated so everything looks nice and clean in there.

i'm really at the point now where there isn't much I can do to the ski w/o dumping a ton of bling into it... i'm back to the swirl prop for another ride while I finish break in of new top end and then i'll probably go back to the xo prop, i'll make a final decision on that after I can do some wot runs and see if I like the swirl's low end over the xo's high end, i'll never be the fastest ski in my group as long as I keep riding with Chuck (he's up to 68 now and thinks he can break 70) .

In the end I think i'll really really appreciate the large tank, not worried at all about the extra weight, if nothing else these ski's are very very good at using up fuel so it won't be heavy for long :) but now I won't be avoiding some of the group runs that soflariders has been having due to the fact that I was limited to planning rides less than 40 miles. With the large tank my range should be closer to 55+ if I don't ride hard, and If i can pack 5 gal's on a buddy's rack i can finally make the longer runs that the 4 stroker guys are making.

Spimothy, where oh where are your outer wears? I got mine from Hot Products for $15 ea. Those pics are great. I'm driving down there to ride with you guys some day but I still can't get too far away from a 5 gallon can.

Thumper, the tabs I'm talking about are the trim tabs. They are under each side of the rear of our X4 hulls held on with three screws each. When you replace them with aftermarket(longer) ones it keeps the nose down by extending the hulls length in the rear. They help smooth out the ride on choppy water but wave jumpers don't like them.

I do have the outerwears, i just took the pic's before I put them on, and I left them off during my break in ride since I was basically just scooting around at half throttle avoiding wakes and killing time, I assure you that I keep them on year round since I love to do spin outs and jump wakes and I want to avoid water intrusion into the engine. (the easiest way to kill an engine next to running it out of oil or clogging up the water intake)

Matt:
your summary on the trim tabs is pretty much spot on, and I have one rider in my group that has them installed on his x4, and he's convinced that they help significantly by keeping the ride smooth in 1' to 2' chop. He lives on the water and there is ALWAYS 1' to 2' chop so it probably makes sense. I've never tried them myself (but they do look cool :) )

re: group rides, we do head north on occasion for some lake/river rides in central florida near Mt Dora, and the Kissimmee river (gator central). so I'll try to remember to let you know when we're heading 4 hours north, maybe you can head 4 hours south and join up. We're already discussing a 3 day trip to Mt Dora to ride the Harris lake chain so I expect we'll be making reservations up there for sometime between mid july and early August, we generally rent a house right on the lake with a dock, ride the lake for a couple of days and then we'll probably hit the St Johns on the last day then head back.

Tanks soo much for the help and the refrance pictures .Are you still able to fit the purple storage tubes in the bucket?

nope... but honestly I haven't tried either, perhaps its possible i threw them on a shelf and went on a cruise and kind of forgot about them, right now my biggest issue is the dam fire extinguisher, which is wrapped in a towel and shoved in the bottom of the bin, and the tools that normally went inside the tubes were moved into a waterproof box and tossed inside, I thought I might try to ghetto something up maybe using a yamaha yellow extinguisher tube and mount it inside the hull somewhere with rubber straps, i doubt the dam fire extinguisher works anyway, but the coasties want me to have one, so I do... i can tell u for a fact that if my ski is on fire, i'm jumping off and into the water. and if another person's ski is on fire, i'm yelling to him from 40 feet away "jump off into the water !" no way i'm spraying anything on fire thats attached to 9 gallons of gas...

if I can find a home for the extinguisher, i'll actually have more room in the storage bin than i had before this all started :)

I might be interested in your 96. Would you be willing to meet within a certain distance? Also, PM sent.

I right there with that I'm not going to even try to use the thing ever
sorry if this is a dumb question because i am new to jetskis but what the hell is that tube/cylinder thing in the picture of your engine compartment because it looks sweet!!!!

hmmm, i'm guessing your looking at the waterbox (muffler), thats just a standard ugly purple x4 stock waterbox that has been painted by a friend of mine who likes to tinker with paint so I gave him my head and box since I wanted a splash of color (if you meant something else, tell me what pic you were referring to lol)

Here's a pic of it before I installed it in the hull. It gives a better view the box.

not sure if he was joking but he told me he'd do box's for others for $50 + shipping both ways,,, all I did was bead blast it and take it to him, picked it up a few days later.

Lol yea that was the one I think it looks sweet is that had to take off and put back on because I would be interested in doing that for $50 during the off season.

actually its easier to take off than the carbs ! just loosen the clamps on the top (exhaust hose) and lower end of the pipe (coupler), and it should slide back a couple inches then up and right out with a little wiggling.. I'll have to ask him if he's serious about painting some, after I saw the finished product I gladly gave him $50 to cover materials and time. duly noted, it looks much better in the pic's than it does in person since the waterbox generally has some scuffs, dings, and welds on it, but once its installed in the hull, you don't see any of the imperfections at all.

you can do it yourself in any color just by using some high heat engine paint (autozone).

here's another pic of one in solid grey that the same guy did before he got the crazy idea to do flames. And another pic of his engine/head, he did the whole engine in copper and polished the head to a chrome finish... looks great, but a b1tch to keep clean.

Alright just let me know if he because I'm in new York and since your in Florida it shouldn't be too bad of a shipping cost
Ad did you say you were going to get a new swirl prop?

i just did a top end so I took off the xo and put a swirl on with a larger nozzle for the break in, (supposedly easier on the engine. ? i dunno i just do what i'm told) and I haven't run the swirl since I added water injection 6 months ago so I thought i'd run it on the swirl for a couple of rides and see how I like it compared to the xo... I really don't understand props very well so I trust the judgement of others that really get into the numbers on all that stuff, i just know I was told that swirl would give me more bottom end, and xo more top end but since I was doing a break in, i couldn't do a wot speed run and see how much i slowed down with the swirl, if at all.

Yea I still have the stock prop I just want to get a prop that will go fater without reducing the aceloration and do you know a web site I can order the trim tabs you were talking about?

my buddy has a set that I think he found on ebay... not sure what he paid,,, $100-$150 i think not sure if they are worth it, he thinks they are... they only make sense if you always ride in chop from what i've been told.

nothing wrong with a stock prop, there are very few AM props that will slow you down in any fashion over stock, assuming they are not damaged.

but from what i've been told the XO is the way to go for the X4 hull but don't quote me on that, i'm going from memory, i'm NOT a prop expert, i let others direct me in that area.
