hump seat is in the garage, haven't had a chance to clean anything. Our poor trailer's tires got slashed. On another note, how much is a 95 XP 717 hull worth? has everything except the engine is in a box

Thanks!! I'll be restoring this baby once i'm done when with school in a few weeks. New top-end and buff out some oxidation and i'll be good to go. I can't look at it now, but all of the decals were stripped and i'm pretty sure its yellow so it has to be the 96

I think it's a 96. I'm pretty sure the DESS post and the gauge are in the opposite positions on the 95.

Can you guys make some recommendations on an impeller and wear ring for the 96 XP? I know some of the companies out there like skat track, solas,OEM etc.... But I don't know what I should be buying or the right pitch.

Im going to have to do both of my skis.

Only use an OEM wear ring and you will be very happy with a Skat-Trac 17/22 Swirl.

If the rear part of the hull is pink it's a 95 if it's all yellow it's a 96.

Has anyone here had experience with SBT wear ring and impeller exchange? I can do both skis for under 200 bucks through them. Compare that to the quote of 670 bucks out the door from motorcity power sports today, SBT is extremely tempting.

On the site it says SBT Delrin wear ring, So that is not OEM. If I'm getting the wear ring and impeller from the same place it seems like the probability of having fitment issues would be less than buying the ring from one place and the impeller from another.

What do you guys think?

Spend the extra $$ and get the OEM

OEM is only 15 bucks more than SBT and I know OEM will be a guaranteed fit, So its a no brainer.

Still wondering about the SBT impeller exchange, The Skat-Trac 17/22 Swirl looks great but that would be over 500 for both skis and I'm not ready to put that kind of money into them yet, They gotta blast me around the lake a few times before they get that kind of love.

Its a give and take relationship;)

i don't like the skat traks. i just put a solas xo 16.5-23.5 and love it.

a little boxy for my taste, and I prefer two color or a drop shadow effect, but looks good either way...
if you find a hump seat.. buy two ! I want one !

They have a silver outline. Its just kinda hard to see. There's a hump seat for $125 plus shipping on the other board.

I thought about getting it, but my xp isn't running quite right yet. I'm pretty sure its my water regulator, but I won't know until tomorrow when it arrives. Its possible the voltage regulator is bad also so I went ahead and picked up a new one.

I've got a hump seat, but it needs to be reupholstered, has a giant hole where the hump is. Is there a special way to reupholster the hump part? It seems that the vinyl is somehow stuck to a tongue of some sort that seems to go into the foam...

Also, I painted the hood and grab handle on my X4 and both are starting to peel now. Does anyone know a good plastic primer/adhesion promoter product out there that helps paint stick to plastic? Or am I just witnessing the effects of plastic's expansion/contraction?

there may be others that have had success with the grab handle and some form of primer, etc, but the hood should stay on fine, my hood (and a few that I know) was painted with krylon plastic paint from wally world and it sticks great ! 2 seasons later and zero chips no peeling. Again, never seen a painted grab handle, I've seen bumpers painted but it chips off fairly easily, so its a short term fix to a long term problem.

when removing old vinyl, if it doesn't peel off easy, i use a single edge razor and a steady hand and just get it off that way. Holes can be filled with foam stuffed in there and trimmed, i took the vinyl off a ski that had cotton balls shoved in the hole, (not necessarily a good idea) so people use lots of stuff !

I did use the Krylon Plastic paint from WalMart, and it's starting to peel even on the hood. Same was done on grab handle. I did use Urethane Clear coat on the works after spraying, could this be my proble

Are you saying the hump seat vinyl has no special adhesion around the "hump" part? it seems that the vinyl was glued to the base of the hump or something...

I'll be spraying my hood and bar cover with specialized vinyl paint using a real gun. If it works out I'll let you guys know what I used. Im still wheeling all the crap off the bar cover so it doesn't fish eye, But I'm not to sure I'll be able to get it all off. I'll be doing this very soon and I'll take pictures as I go.

well, you won't know how well it holds until a year or so from now. mine looked FANTASTIC all last year, but one season later, it's flaking off. I guess let us know how it looks, b/c I know vinyl paint tends to not be as glossy as clear coat.

:) i guess im spoiled, after having them look all sweet and glossy, i'm kind-of addicted to that look. Maybe you can wax up that vinyl paint somehow. I'd be interested in a long-term solution more than a temp. beautiful one though.

got a 96 xp this week with a 787 motor but the hull was crashed. had been sitting for 4 years when i got it. paid $800.00 for ski and trailer. took it home an pulled plugs and flame arrestor and threw in a battery. poured some fresh gas/oil mix in plug holes and carbs and she fires right up. going tomorrow to buy a 97 xp hull for $50.00 thats in near mint condition with no motor but everything else is in tact. needs a seat cover which i already bought off ebay for $35.00. gonna have a sweet looking and running x4 on the lake this weekend. but will have to do all the recomended changes like the grey hoses etc... will post pics soon.....everyone please have a safe weekend. ride hard, ride safe....
hey mods or anyone else.... where can i get a seadoo forum.com sticker ?

oh no doubt! That 787 motor makes for one hell of a ride. I love the spring seat look too, it's def. one of the best looking hulls ever made (in jet ski history) I'd go thorough and clean out the carbs prior to re-assembly. If you're going to rebuild em, use genuine mikuni stuff, but keep the same arm spring it came with. Otherwise you'd have to test pop-off pressures and stuff...
