The X4 Thread

See my dilemma is this isn't my first X4, I've had a few. It's been a couple years since I last rode one. They are a blast stock but I think I might want more. Then again on the flip side, it's kind of a hard ski to find so maybe it's something thats better left stock

Dude, I texted that guy abuot that SPX and was going to check it out. Figured for $1,500 it was a good deal and it looked great. I'd love to know what you actually got it for. I ended up not getting up there.

Let's just say I STOLE it because the battery was dead so all it would was beep. The guy I bought it from was a pain to deal with. We must have made plans to meet 10 times and he kept blowing me off. It worked out good for me though cause him putting me off enabled me to pick it up cheap

not x-4 related, but no need for another thread. Two of the veins on the pump of my RX are broken; how bad will this hinder performance? Also, I'm removing the intake grate.

has anyone ever seen or tried this ?

I scored a brand new small Jettrim splash guard on ebay over the weekend for $23 shipped! Any tricks to installing that thing. Just drill the rivets out and reinstall? What type of glue do you guys use?

Just need a Jettrim seat cover now!

Glue? I never used it. You will have to trim material off the bottom of your rails so it will fit more flush. After that the new rivots will hold it tight. The long holes in the thinker rubber front cone require me to go to Ace and get the perfect size ss nuts and bolts. My rivot guns won't fit deep enough in those holes. I do like the Jet Trim brand. The mustache works good and it's tough enough that I can grab skis by it and pull em right up the trailer.

Well thats because they know better than I do. I was given a couple and a couple skis and just went at it. They turned out great but over the years the missing glue will likely show up in my work. I want the high seat from them too. I heard if you send your seat to them they will do the cover install really reasonable.

I just picked this 96 XP up a couple of days ago. I always wanted one but couldn't find a clean one until now. I had a 98 SPX a few years ago too but this is the one I wanted!:) Heres a pic of the 96 XP and my old 98 SPX.

96 XP 800 Impeller

So I did my first pump oil change tonight and noticed that the impeller has scarring and at first it looked like it was bent until I looked at my other skis impeller and the same side was lifted up away from the wear ring.

I don't know anything about this part of the ski I have mainly been focused on the 787 and electrical, So maybe someone could tell me if this looks bad?

What are the down sides to riding with a damaged impeller? Is it purely a performance issue or can it cause damage to other parts of the machine?

Engine cooling will be less efficient. As the impeller cavitates, it will send aerated water through the cooling system.

How can I tell the difference between a 95 XP 800 and 96 XP 800? All I can tell is that the one I got doesn't have mirrors.

95 XPs had the 717 in them. The only 1995 XP to have the 787 is the rarer XP 800. I believe the bottom of the hull near the rear was pink. Also last two digits of the HIN will be the model year.

Thanks!! I'll be restoring this baby once i'm done when with school in a few weeks. New top-end and buff out some oxidation and i'll be good to go. I can't look at it now, but all of the decals were stripped and i'm pretty sure its yellow so it has to be the 96

Looks to me like you have yourself a 95 XP800 there. Looks to be missing its hump seat but other than that looks rather clean. A 96 XP would have a mirror hood.

On another note. What is everyones thoughts on a solas scoop grate for my 99SPX? I do a mixture of chop and flat water riding and was just curious as to what a good all around grate is. I can get this solas one for a decent price.

Can you guys make some recommendations on an impeller and wear ring for the 96 XP? I know some of the companies out there like skat track, solas,OEM etc.... But I don't know what I should be buying or the right pitch.

Im going to have to do both of my skis.
