The X4 Thread

Hey guys, my X4 needs your help: if any of you have a 787 crankshaft laying around, please help me figure something out. I have a motor that I pulled apart to change out a few of the bearings on the crank and balance shaft. Well, upon reassembly, I found that this particular crank has no mark to align with the balance shaft. My other crank has a small hash mark on the gear, but it's very faint, and I'm not sure that it is the actual mark. This mark seems to be aligned with the MAG flywheel key and the MAG piston being in the TDC position. Could you please look on your crank and tell me if that is indeed the mark to align with the counterbalance shaft?

Thanks so much, I really can't wait to get past this dumb hurdle.

Thanks for the links, that guy is asking top dollar for everything though. I picked up quite a few things hes selling for nearly half the price hes asking by just watching ebay and craigslist for the past few months.

I just noticed by accident that I was the 1000th. post on this thread. First of all this is a mile store and I would like to congratulate PPE especially and all the others who have helped on this thread.

Now down to business. What do I win for being the 1000th. poster, if I remember correctly when the Ask Jake, Lou and Criss thread hit 1000 the winner got a free trip to Australia. I'll be waiting to hear.

yeah top dollor and then some, but he does have umi steering in there too, and some other rare stuff.

I am parting out a 1996 XP 800 if anyone needs something, just ask! link to my ebay is in my signature.

No wonder you guys like these things, very easy to work on.
Ski came to me fairly clean on the outside, standard valve / gasket leak on the engine, so the engine is FULL of oil, but in 1 piece at the moment.

Everything of value removed, and I'm willing to move the parts cheap.

Starter was shot, so I tossed that, everything else looks decent. VTS unit works. I tested the motor up/down.
I do not know if the engine works, I assume NOT.

so my engine got pulled on my xp last night, top end rebuild project will start first of the week, the crank & etc will get a good clean & inspection as well.
this is my best opportunity (most practical) to switch to the T Tank...
does anyone have a list of what models we can use the tank's off of so I can begin my tank search ?
I saw a coupe on fleabay but they wanted over $100 for them and my first thought was .. fk that !
i'd be better off finding one locally to avoid shipping charges I just need to know what years/model's i'm looking for to get started...

I know the tank from a 96GTI will work, basically it's an elongated X4 hull, it's 12 gal., any ski with that hull should work.

did some quick research on it,, if my info is correct then these will fit.
1995 SEADOO GTX
1996,97 SEADOO GTI
1995 TO 2001 SEADOO GTS

does that make sense ?

anyone have pictures of the gas tank swap. Is it confirmed that the engine has to come out to put it in?

Scott

that part has been confirmed by the two mechanic's that I asked, engine MUST come out basically the swap is only practical at that point, it would be far too much effort otherwise.

Hey guys I want to change the cooling hoses out on my XP to clear or some sort of colored hose. I've seen some custom ski's with this before. I was just wonder what type of hose I need to use and what size. I was thinking maybe some sort of clear braided air hose maybe.........

I just pulled my engine this week and I was thinking about that as well, since my plans are to paint the engine head and the pipe as well and i'm undecided as to what colors i want. But sometimes the finishing touches on the lines, both water, electrical, and fuel can be pretty sexy at times. But I'd love to hear idea's on creative use of custom lines

Bottom line, over the past 18 yrs there have to have been some absolutely SICK custom x4's built. And I'd love to see some pic's & steal ideas :)

Then I'll see your pics and continue to steal your ideas. You already had a "sexy" looking engine. I got my Spec 2, looking for my T-tank. Why the top end? High hours? low compression? I saw an engine pic last week that had custom automotive billet high pressure oil lines that thread on used for the main water lines. That's kinda over the top but it happened.
