@spx it's all about neck thickness.

@spx800 this is the hang out for all x4 riders and riding them. If it has to do with riding, working on, or Modding an x4 it has a place here.

@Lou looks like that's just the outer shell. The parts off yours probably will not work.

I hope there good with returns if it dont fit!

Alright, I just got done riding today and now have a few questions.
So whats the best way to get my vts work as when I try using it, it blows the fuse (according to my buddy who I bought it from) . I remember seeing a thread on how to get them working again but I searched and could find anything really.
Secondly so when I in the back slues I like to turn really sharp and sometimes when I do, I seem to loose all traction and slide across the water. What can I do to get rid of this or improve it.

your problem with sliding out is your trim is set to high for cornering and you bow is up rather then cutting the water. as far as your vts problems, it either your vts box or your motor. take the vts cover off and remove the wires and the MM nuts holding the motor on. take the motor and get a V battery of any size and touch one of the motor wires to the pos and one to the neg( it doesn't matter which). if the motor spins then its most likely your vts box, if it doesn't spin then post back and I'll walk you through rebuilding the motor.

Alright thanks! I will take the vts out tomo when i get home from school.

ya drop the trim for more stable cornering, but remember that it can stick the corner pretty hard when the trim is anywhere below even so hold on ! Thats my favorite toss, hitting the corner too hard, too fast and the ski makes a perfect turn while you turtle on your back 12 feet into the water :)
trim up for more spin, easier to stick a nice 360

Here is one of the X4s I am cleaning up:

Well after getting everything back together I get nothing, no start, no lights on the gauge. I swapped the MPEM over to the other ski and it works fine (thinking it was the micro touch possibly). Turns over fine by jumping the starter solenoid. Should it start without the gauges hooked up? This ski started fine before I swapped the hood and UMI bars. I did determine that the UMI start button was temperamental so I swapped it for my old one... still no luck.

check all your ground connections. Esp at the starter.
Are all the connections reconnected that you removed for the hood and such.

I know, simple things that you probably already checked but who knows what could happen....wires pinched????

im actually pretty excited, i dewinterized the spx today and tomorrows going to be 65 outside so i might be able to get a test run in tomorrow with the new carb rebuild and the new motor mounts

Since this is the X4 thread...does anyone know the 0-30mph acceleration of the 1996 XP 787? I was wanting to compare the takeoff speed to the newer seadoos. I am comparing it to a waverunner VX. It was one I was considering in the future.

Hey I took it out and I couldnt get the motor to spin from both the battery and by hand!

Put a fresh fuse in and leave the motor out...make sure it clicks. If it doesnt blow a fuse its prob just a motor. I have many ready to go.

Where are the fuses located? I havnt looked yet but thought I would ask before I try to open something I shouldn't lol. Also I looked at my vts boots they have the plastic clips not the metals ones so they must of been updated.
