The X4 Thread

Since this is the X4 thread...does anyone know the 0-30mph acceleration of the 1996 XP 787? I was wanting to compare the takeoff speed to the newer seadoos. I am comparing it to a waverunner VX. It was one I was considering in the future.

the 2012 ?

i'm going out this afternoon, maybe I can put a stop watch on mine and see how quickly I hit 30 :)
might be difficult with the gps tho lol, i've never had a speedo gauge on this since i switched to the single gauge hood.

your problem with sliding out is your trim is set to high for cornering and you bow is up rather then cutting the water. as far as your vts problems, it either your vts box or your motor. take the vts cover off and remove the wires and the MM nuts holding the motor on. take the motor and get a V battery of any size and touch one of the motor wires to the pos and one to the neg( it doesn't matter which). if the motor spins then its most likely your vts box, if it doesn't spin then post back and I'll walk you through rebuilding the motor.

My battery was actually dead so I charged it overnoght and tired it this morning and it worked just fine.. So what does that mean? vts box itself?

The 2007 waverunner VX has the same motor so it doesnt much matter. I was curious what a stock XP can do in comparison. The VX is like 3.2 seconds to 30.

ok, the vx sport 2012 is 2.6 seconds I think....
against the vx110, i think a stock x4 787 beats it, all day long, 0-30 that's my guess.

Well after getting everything back together I get nothing, no start, no lights on the gauge. I swapped the MPEM over to the other ski and it works fine (thinking it was the micro touch possibly). Turns over fine by jumping the starter solenoid. Should it start without the gauges hooked up? This ski started fine before I swapped the hood and UMI bars. I did determine that the UMI start button was temperamental so I swapped it for my old one... still no luck.

I forgot that I had changed the starter positive cable months ago and had accidentally switched the poles on the relay in the rear box.

Thats a nice ski but $4500? You get two of those on a clean double trailer in the middle of riding season for that or less. No mention of a pipe either and I gotta have one.

So I just got my hydro turf done, (will get some pictures soon) and now I am looking to do my handle bars. Whats the best bang for your buck? What all do I need? Handle bars, handle bar stem? Links would be great!

full umi, looks great. don't replace just the bars; it looks stupid with the stock stem. good luck finding a cheap umi set-up though.

ya, guy's out of his mind. that's even way out to lunch in canada. Doesn't even have a umi on it. i have more than that on mine and i'd only ask 3000.00; which in canada is a good price.

Yea i doubt he'd get that much for it, figured maybe someone might be interested in it. Maybe try and talk the price down. I'll be posting pics of my 96 xp as soon as i get my phone replaced :banghead: just bought it for 1350 :D

how about some pics of where you guys mounted your bilge pumps/switch/ and through hull.... I just got a automatic 1100 gph rule that im going to install, debating where to put my through hull and switch.

Alright so I was going to clean my exhaust valves today since they have never been cleaned since new (paint wasnt broke around screw and I knew the last owner and he said never once did he clean them as he bought it brand new). So I got the farthest back out no problem and then I tried to get the one towards the front and when I try to pull it out it hits the exhaust... Do I really have to pull the whole pipe to just clean the exhaust valve??

No, there's no need to pull the pipe. the valve comes apart in 2 pieces. you have to disassemble it while its in the port.

You did great with the parts and prices! Bill Oneal told me to send my 96XP impeller to Impros and have it made to that pitch. You stole that prop. The sponsons are the way to go, theres no turning back. No love for the couch though, at least its BRP.

Well sorta, It will still be in the family. I still like the 96GTI, its almost an X4 with an elongated hull and for a big ski it's very nimble.
