You must be able to get a decent dollar out of a complete unit. I wish we could too many low ballers here in Florida, upside is hardly anyone knows how to work on them so they go for cheap with minimal things wrong with them.

Nice Tonka. I will have 2 X4's, but one is 717 Powered. The gf will be on it  On the plus side I can get both of my ski's to the lake now. I picked up a Galvanized Karavan double trailer off of craigslist and after putting new seals, bearings, boards, carpet, safety chains, led lights, and a jack on it she's ready. Still only have $425 in it! Harbor Freight 20% coupon FTW!

New led lights  I will never put those on anymore as every pair I get I seem to smash...... I now buy the cheapest one possible and haven't smashed a pair yet.... Hope your lucks is better than mine!

LOL well kinda. 2 came from northern MN, one locally, and one in IA. My buddy got a steal from Appleton, and an absolute CHERRY 98 SPX in NB....

If you ever see one around me and you want me to look at it before you make the haul let me know!

ok can we quickly revisit the hump seat ?
saw one sunday, and dammit, i looked nice...
i'm sure its buried somewhere in this thread but i'm lazy.

do you have 2 buy the hump seat, then recover it ?
or can you just have a "hump recover" package and use the original seat.

Made more progress on the XP this week! Finished buffing, new oil filter, cleaned the raves, wear ring, neoprene seal, went over the carbs, painted the hood, and installed the mats. The gauge cover is metallic silver. I had to touch it up so thats why its not installed.

i dont know... i'll look into for you cause i kinda want one myself lol

Thanks guys! Heres the completed pics other than one grip. I don't want to get it dirty now! I'm just trying to decided on a small graphic to lay down where the big XP logo used to be on the sides to balance the hull numbers i'll have to install.

I like the instrument panel cover adds a nice touch

Thanks man! Its Rustoleum Universal and the color is Metallic. I just hope it holds up. I scuffed real good with a scotch brite pad so hopefully it will. If not I can always do it again. You can buy a ton of paint for what a black 99 SPX hood or a carbon fiber hood sells for!

Just joined the forum. Last October, after 8 months of looking, I purchased a 1997 SPX. I had a 95 xp back in the day and I fell in love with the X4 hull. Very clean ski.
Mods:
R&D pipe
R&D 185 psi head
Buckshot carbs
Buckshot F/A
R&D grate
R&D nozzle
Solas X/O
UMI bars
JetTrim hump seat
finger throttle
converted to premix

All of the mods were done when new, and it's still on the original motor(knock on wood). Not sure of the hours. I am the 3rd owner. I purchased it for $1300 with a trailer, 2 gel vests, and winter gear.

Question: my dog ate my Laptop charger.. Any way to post pictures from an iPhone??

- Jason

that's a nice build, how fast does it go? any idea as-to how much gas it eats per your average hour of run-time? I have a similar (maybe slightly less beefy) setup that I am about to put together. Just wondering what I'm in for here :)

Haven't GPSd it yet. From the feed back ive recieved, should run 60-62. The thing is an animal out of the hole, and pulls hard all the way to 7100 +/-. I am extremely satisfied with the performance. I find it more gratifying than my EVO with 400 AWHP from a roll( nothing compares to AWD launches at 25lbs of boost)

I get about 3 1/2 to 4 hours out of a full tank. That's cruising about 35-40 and a lot of WOT pulls.

Tabs

I have been reading through this thread, just got through the discussion on the Tabs. Mine sit flush with the transome, they don't extend the hull at all. Looks to be made of aluminum. Are these the stock tabs(pretty sure they are not)? If not what's the benefit of using a shorter tab? The ski rides great IMO, so I will be keeping it as is. I'm just curious of why the previous owner would use a shorter tab that doesn't extend the hull at all.

Thanks for the insight!

-Jason

yes, they're stock tabs. shorter tabs are better for jumping.
