Rubber Plug...

Does anyone have a good parts source to get a new rubber plug 293 830 005 ?

It goes on top of the Air Silencer Cover

Other than plugging a small hole, not sure exactly the reason for it being there. Anyone else?

Maybe I can find something at the local hardware store?!

I bumped it, and it broke into two pieces (No longer useable)

Thanks

I can't tell you where to find one, but I can tell you what it does. It's a fogging port, lets you fog the engine without removing the air box cover. I would just take a trip to the hardware store or Lowes, shouldn't be too hard to find something to plug the hole.

Ok, I officially feel stupid now. The fuel filter I bought was a 1/4 or 5/16.....you have to cut the 1/4 part off. I wasn't paying attention aparently. I checked every parts store around here quit selling purolator. I picked up a fram G2 big and fat with no cutting involved. I will put it on and find my air leak I created other day when I had carbs off and get back to you. Also just for Sh&*$ and giggles I picked up the two gas preasure valves. Since my gas cap tried to shoot off like a rocket.

Hackete,

Arent you running 1/4" fuel line? Or did you upgrade to something larger?

Before I go to cutting away at the factory clamps on mine to replace all the fuel line with 1/4" automotive grade fuel line, is there any special way to get the factory clamps off? I havent tried it yet, but it appears they are clamped on with a press fit type fitting. Do I just get a pair of channel cutters and hack away, or is there a better way?

Thanks!

I used 5/16th's line is that wrong? I replaced everything on it even the vents, also used clamps. 95 XP 720 motor

The factory clamped lines I used a big set of dikes. I put the curved side up on the hump part, squeeze not cut and they pop loose.

Good afternoon everybody. New x4 owner. I have had a 97 xp for a couple years and a couple months ago found 2 96 xp's for sale locally and had to jump on it. One is in almost perfect condition only needing a handlebar cover and the other has turned out to be a parts ski. I don't even get on the 97 anymore, the 96 is too much fun.

Will try out the 95 XP tomorrow. Replaced the line from engine to fuel pump, it had a cut on it.

I went ahead and took off the head on my 96 which is my next project. I had 0 Mag compression and 135 on pto.

I will have to get a better pic in the daylight but here is an idea of how it looks. My biggest question was can I polish the head and use it, or should I not even try.

Mag Side Head

Mag Side Head

PTO piston 135 compression

Mag Piston

The Rave inner cap was melted so I assume that's what caused it.

I know I ask alot of dumb questions on here, I have no one around to talk about ski's with. Mostly just horse, cow, and fishing boats around here. But here is another one: Anyone ever tried the 15 gal tank from a 96 GTI that is supost to fit in X4 hull? I assume it changes the handleing etc. I also figured with my fat butt on the back that it might even it out more or sink it.

Hackete...That head is junk. I have many available for $80 give or take depending on condition.

Tank wise....I have never ridden one with the 95 GTX/96GTI tank, but it does go right in. You do have to modify the filler hose a little to make it work, you need the straps, and you need the fuel pickup too. I just sold one setup, and have one more left if you decide to go for it.

Im just gonna be the parts wh0re I am....LOL I have TONS of 787/ X-4 parts....lol well except for VTS modules.

I also apologize for being a ghost around here; Between selling parts and fixing machines I have had very little time to help my forum friends...

Thanks I will let you know. As of right now I am debating just getting a SBT engine. Mainly because I have no idea how the ski was treated before I got it. I would hate to fix this and then have to replace bottom end. I got this ski 2 years ago and have had nothing but problems with it. On the up side I got it for $300, with the engine tore half apart. At least I got two summer's out of it but, I knew this day was comming. When I drained the oil when I got it I knew they were not using the right oil. The oil looked and felt wrong, I know kinda sounds weird.

Hey guru's. Been reading your X4 thread. I bought a couple older jet ski's at the end of last year. A 97 GTI and a 99 GTX. I'm no expert on these puppies, really a novice but getting to know them inside out very well. Been using them quite a bit this summer. The GTI is down right now, I replaced wear ring and tightened it up so much the drive shaft / pto-flywheel both stripped splines. Waiting on parts now. The GTI is nothing compared to the GTX, looking for another ski like the GTX. I'd like to get your thoughts on a ski i found on craigslist near me, I put a deposit down on it already so don't anyone get the idea you can get there first! Please let me know your thoughts, just feeling around in the dark, but I really love these ski's.

Also, is that some sort of stock oil filter that looks like an "In-line" fuel filter that is at the front of the engine? Do those ever need replacement?

I'm a new X4 owner and was wondering about replacing the oil filter also. What do you guys recommend when it comes to servicing the oil system? I've rebuilt my carbs, replaced fuel lines, and I'm going to clean the raves this weekend so i figured going through the oil system is next. Thanks!

if you can talk him down a little, i'd go for it. btw an x4 rides completly diffrent than a gtx. you 99 has the 951 in it so it will be faster on the top end than a stock x4. also they are no where near as stable, it's not hard to get used to but i always tell anyone who has not been on one before that if you let your gaurd down on them it WILL throw you off.

other wise do the following:
1. take it for a water test and verifiy his claims
2. if everything checks out and you come to a deal, get it.
3. contact Dr. Honda for a x4 cult sticker and welcome!!
