I have one on the rxx
After patching mine from being worn down to the fiberglass I put one on mine during the resto.

I do have a make shift stand too, though. One of the lakes I ride has rocky beaches.. like big rocks. So I use that to keep it clear.

I'd personally drive to Adam's house rip the keel guard off and beat him with it. Only place they belong is on the shelf, in a warehouse, in China. I'd much rather look at the gel coat worn off just like it it's on my 96. Rob, you're close to getting a visit for that keel guard on the rxx.......

Lol, I gently pull them up on the bank. Never worn any real gel coat off.

After the pain it was having our boat repaired growing up I'll always have a Keel guard on everything I own.

I beach in the sand so it's like running sand paper over the gel every time. In the river I put a dog tie out in the rocks and tie off there, but at the beach that's not an option it get so busy

Had a little fun today, was 90 degrees.

Where are you guys beaching at to wear down the gel coat this much?

I can tell you on my 96 xp, i put a ton of hours on it, got beached every weekend maybe 6 times since we spent half the day and took quite a few breaks to find some shade & relax. Mine was worn down to fiberglass for a good 3 feet and 2 inches wide.

our beaches can be quite rough with rough sand, small rocks, and lots of little bits of shelves, and if there was wave activity or wakes from passing boats the ski's slide around a bit, remember your putting 400+ lbs of pressure in reverse, so wearing them down isn't surprising to me.

An at least in my experience, the gulf coast of florida is easier on the hull than the atlantic side, much rougher sand in some area's.

Sorry, this is all I could think of. download.jpg

Not sure if this is the spot to ask this question.....did not wanna start a new thread to do it. I am looking for a gas cap for a 96xp Not sure if I want a stock one or a billet aftermarket one. This ski is not stock at all so sticking to an all stock look does not matter.

I have a black billet one new in package. $60 shipped. Also have several oem ones for whatever it costs to ship.

Cool vid, why did you have to start with your key in the air? Also, any damage to you ski when the 97xp? Hit you? I saw you lost the nose piece.

I got penalized for jumping the start, and the xpl didnt hit me... just a near miss, i lost the nose piece cause i hit a buoy. its an xpl cause is a 1000 cc open class... but the good old 787 x4 keeps up very well agains those hyperbolic hulls, but they are a lot better in those weather conditions

thanks
