Probably not a bad idea to get a new baffle filter. To tell the truth I didn't know until last night that they were available. Usually they fall off and are in the bottom of the tank.

After looking at this thread again... it looks like we were post at the same time. (missed posts) ANYWAY..............

I just did my fuel lines. took 21 feet and i bought 25 clamps. Getting non fuel injection fuel line and the clamps totaled out to $26...

If I'm running R&D (power plenum and F.A, 85/88, trim tabs/ride plate, intake grate) Solas XO. What size jetting/pop off do you recommend and where should i go to purchase? I've exhausted the search tool and can not find an answer.

Well... since you don't have any real engine mods... I would be running stock jetting. BUT... since you have an aftermarket flame arestor, I would run the pop-off at the low end of spec. (Probably around 25~28 psi) Also, since there is a little less resistance... I would open the PTO high needle about an 1/8 of a turn.

One thing I would like to ask of you.... can you please post up a few close up pics of the R&D tabs?

Lou & Tony,

Thanks for the advice and reccomendations! I am not sure about the grey lines being replaced yet....

Approx. how many full tanks can you run through compared to filling the oil tank, or do you just keep them both topped off. (Every time you fuel, do you fill the oil tank?)

The 800 engine is very hungry in comparison of the XP's fuel tank. You will get to play for a couple hours, and the fuel tank will be empty. But, as far as your oil question.... if you are running at high throttle settings... you will burn about a quart of oil per tank of fuel. SO... you will want to top off the tank every 4th tank of fuel.

Personally, I just check the oil after every day of use.

Check the gray fuel lines... they can be the death to your engine. (If it's left to run lean too long)

Ignorant question but im a noob with carbs. all my toys except the xp's are injected...but what screw is the PTO and how do you go about adjusting the pop-off pressure?

This is the only pic i have of the tabs. the ski is on the hoist in the water as of now.

I began to look for a exhaust pipe. Any recommendations? I'd like to stick with one that will improve performance but with little need to constantly tune after jetting.

Thanks for the pic... but if you can get a few more angles... that would be great. (no rush)

Well... the bet pipe is from Factory Pipe... but it's only an extra 8 hp over stock. The big thing is their water control, and rev limiter. It will give you 300 rpm's up top... and more mid because of the water injection.

Once it's tuned... it shouldn't be too "Fiddly."

That seems to be the general consensus. What exactly do you want pictures of. the whole tabs? bottom views? from the top? Ill snap some tonight but for some reason unless the post is approved i can only post one picture at a time.

if you take off that middle section of those r&d tabs you'll get some extra speed back. check out my "mods" post on the first few pages of this thread.

@jetmanjo, i'll get that pic up later tonight. i just got home. the past two days life has really stomped me into the mud.

I was considering doing that just to see how much more air i'll obtain when jumping but if ill gain some speed back ill do it anyways. im asuming all ill be sacraficing would be having it "hop" a little more?

Dr. Honda are you still making the vinyl "x-4 cult" decals? Id love to slap one on if your still selling!

Id like to see it from the side, and from the rear... so I can see the mount. (They are 3 degrees down supposedly)

Yep... I own the cutter... so I can make them up anytime. Shoot me a PM.

not all of them are 3 degree doc. most are(cause those where the most effective/bought/best) but they made several degree sizes if i remember correctly.

I know I have not even made it home to fix my X4, AND these are not X4's, but can you check out this CL listing and let me know what you think? http://redding.craigslist.org/boa/2493692079.html Seems like a super deal to me, but then again, I have been out of the sport for many years now. Was thinking that if I could swing it, would keep one of these for my wife sell one with my single trailer then I would have the X4 to play on and the wife would have something else to do / ride. Seems I have seen these go for more like $4,500 in my area.

Thanks for the input! (Headed home 170 mi. drive, to work on my X4 hope to get it fired up, or at least get a solid on what part is needed next.)

Disregard my last post. Never had a chance. They were sold before they even made it to my home town today. :( He said they were listed for a week on E-bay and Craigs list with no bites, then today he got 7 calls on them. I was the second caller and he was bringing them to my home town from 5-6 hours away. Oh well, it will let me focus on getting my X4 fired up and in the water.

well I've tried everything now and nothing works. For some reason the head pipe to manifold bolts come loose 5 minutes into riding. i honestly haven't been able to ride longer than that since purchasing the ski. I've had to replace 1 head pipe and now going on my 4th gasket. It has new lock washers, tried torque to spec, slight over torque, blue lock tite, and red high temp RTV. every time the back out. Eventually its going to lean out and blow the engine unless there's already damage done which i would not doubt. All the engine mount bolts are tight and those 4 are the only ones that come loose. PLEASE HELP!

My buddy had that same problem on his hx the problem was the bushings on the pipe were all worn out. His even would shear the bolts not only back them out

Flying96XP my son's 95 had the same problem have rings ordered for it now. I went to autozone and got 4 8m1.25 studs and used blue lock tight it has heald for about 20 hours of ridding so far. I will check the bushing on his as well.

well finally got my xp in the water after a month of owning it,had a few problems but for 400 bux i cant complain.i have to say it was alot of fun compared to my gsx's its alot more nimble and agile .for the most part it ran strong only towards the end did i kinda get a little hesitation/bog.i went to check the filter there was quite a bit of trash in it.i didnt get to go back out cuz i dropped the filter under the pipe and couldnt find it.i also had some oil come out of the pto side sparkplug turns out it wasnt tightened down completely.i still need to change out the fuel lines aswell.made a little short video with the ol lady riding for the first time lol.she wasnt too enthused

Did you fry the piston rings leaning it out with the pipe off? Ill have to look into studs...

little update. Offically joined the "cult" ordered my "patch", thanks Tony!.. Also went through the exhaust. found all the bushings looked smashed and worn. So i removed both the cone and head pipes popped out the bushings to have them fall apart in my hand! Got a new gasket and bushings ordered today along with some loctite. Hopefully between the bushings and careful alignment my issue will be solved by the weekend. Anyone know if there is a washer on both sides of the bushings or just the side with the bolt?

so i was out yesterday and now i have a proplem that i'm never run into before. i was riding my xp yesterday, she was a little slugish untill i got her warmed up but thats the way it has been since day one, she still has the grey lines but i trimed the ends on the carb and selector switch since that's where all the green goo comes from( in every ski i've done that is) any way she just did not feel right, it did not have the power it should have. so i went down to the dam, sat and ideled around for a bit, not a hitch acttully started running smoother, so i thought i just had gotten a bit of trash in the carbs. any way i take back off and now i know something is not right, it had no power at all, at full throttle it would hardly plane off and do 30 mph. so i stop make sure nothing is in the pump or blocking the grate, so i reboard cranks right back up and i head for the dock with just enought throttle to get on plane. about 1/2 way back i hear a big BANG and the my motor starts to "free spin" and i have no propultion. so i tow back in with my gts and pull the seat off and discover my exhoust from the end of the pipe back( conection to muffler) has blowen out and the muffler bolts broke off from the hull. so would this couse the motor issue. i'm going to brake her down this weekend and go thought the carbs, change out the rest of the lines and put the exhuast back together, but what cuases them to blow out like that? i've never seen it happen like that...

If you had an exhaust leak... then yes, it wold cause it to bog down since it's displacing the oxygen.

Why the bolts broke... I don't know. Can you post up a pic?

For the guys who bought graphics from me....

I posted up a vid on youtube, to show how to install the 2 color versions.

You can see it here.

http://youtu.be/tJxwxirHeiM

It shows the wet method of installation. It works well on the single colors too.

The link is also in my signature line too.

i didn't think about the fact it was filling the bildge with CO2 *Duh*

yeah i'll get them up tomorrow, i'm pulling the whole dang thing apart tomorrow its the bolts on the muffler mounting bracket just snapped cousing the muffler to shake around thus blowing the rubber conecting hose off between the muffler and pipe. i tscared the crap out of me when i happened i thought i blew the pto piston, the exhuast "pings" where echoing up to my pto jug so it sound like the fire was blowing by the piston lol.
