Nice.... I'm forgetting his name but we sent as a group on pwct back in the day flowers for the funeral. I was in contact with his dad on buying everything he had accumulated and we just couldn't get to a price point that made since driving a panel truck to go get. He started talking about getting some of them together and was happy to hear that he got satisfaction/moving on by getting them going.

Yep, same guy. He's building all his sons skis that didn't get finished. I believe the VE stroker is next. This was the first VE to get built.

I saw that video on pwctoday that's a sweet build wish there was a thread on it

Dan can you give us some specs and details on the ski

I'll try and talk to him over the next few days and try and get the full specs, the following is just off my memory. He has several X4's that have work done to them. I'm almost 100% positive that this engine is running a Factory 787R cases. They are hands down the most amazingly ported cases I have ever seen. It was all done on a CNC, not by hand. It also started with triple port 787R cylinders, I think that mod alone is worth almost 10 extra HP. Unfortunately they cracked between the ports. He's got a few sets of those, all cracked. But now he's running a NON-Rave VE mono cylinder that was NOS. He has a Skat pump, reduction nozzles, pump wedge, ECWI, Spec-2 Factory pipe, MSD., I think 46 NOVI carbs. It has a chit load of performance parts, it's basically a full race spec ski that he rides as rec ski. His one other ski that is worked is also 60+ ski probably close to 62mph IIRC.

Yeah it's an old racer trick. One of Nick's has it I think.

Is there any loss on an otherwise bone stock engine? I wouldnt be expecting an increase in performance only the different possibly better sound, but wouldnt want to lose anything over it.

I wouldnt be doing this mod any time soon actually just curious about it for future reference.

I've got one in one of mine, I dented it in back to make it fit better. Racers used to say it made an extra 50 to 100 rpm but I dunno.

Nick is referring to the Yami box
If you are looking for louder go tdr, it's ALOT louder

No TDR for me, haha. I read nothing but bad things about those from the loss of back pressure causing performance losses vs a stock box to the fact that its extremely loud and annoying and sounds like a combo of a revved up chainsaw and a swarm of bees.

I had just read somewhere a few days ago about the 97 760 box supposedly having a "nicer lower tone" than the stock box and not being much louder. I looked around a bit and couldn't find any sound clips of a 787 or any Seadoo for that matter with the yami box so I just youtubed a couple gp760 video clips and the exhaust sounded different and kind of cool which lead me to ask if anyone has or is running one.

Ideally Id like to hear a sound clip of an x4 with a yami box out of curiousity of what it sounds like, that would be cool.

I ran one for a while, I had zero performance loss. It's just pretty loud. Had a deep tone but loud.

A couple X4 porns for you guys. Saw the bright orange Hooters ski on the way in to World Finals Day 1 of racing and had to take a couple pics haha. The trim setup is sweet and the CF hood and the nozzles, basically the whole ski.

And this one next to it deserved a pic if for no other reason than it is an X4 so why not!

The 97SPX flows better and may have a little better tone but is not loud really.

I raced the Hooters ski before and have seen it a few times. This year the DPI boat was also in Panama City. My Zebra ski has their sponsons and it handles great.

I'm loving the pics, wish I were out there also.

Nice doc, good to see some other X4 guys from the forum here, Id love to see your 951 X4 rip around in person if that is the red ski in the picture (I think it is).

Very cool that you know both these boats. I knew you would like the pics, I know how much you love these racing X4s. Hopefully I can get some more shots.

Ugh these pics are like going to the strip club, I love what I see but I just want to ride it!

Brian (Seadoodoc) saw me walkin down to the beach this morning and he stopped to ask if I needed a ride and we had never met before I just recognized his face and said hey your seadoodoc. So I hung out with him and his son for a little bit and watched his son race then stayed down at the beach to watch other races and didnt see him again after that. Nice guy though it was good to meet you and Jordan.

I took a bunch of pics, mostly of X4s but way to many to post them here so you can check them out on my photobucket if your interested in more X4 racer porn. There was a fast Spark racing with the X4s and he did very well he got 2nd, 1st and 1st in the three races I saw him in. I think there is a pic or two with the Spark in it, it was blue in color.

Thanks 1of500 a lot of them came out pretty good for just being quick snap shots.

I refinished a single gauge hood I picked up. Turned out better than I thought it would but took so much sanding, wet sanding, and polishing. Probably around 10 hours or more into that hood but worth it now I can get rid of the yellow elephant head on the front of the ski.

I used 1 can of Krylon Fusion Gloss Black and a can of Rustoleum Crystal Clear (full can of each which was 3 coats black and 4 coats clear) then wet sanded the hell out of it with 2000 grit and finished with 3m rubbing compound that I had around already. Came out super smooth and shiny like a mirror finish.
