Nice Adam looks good to me over here. What color paint is that? It matches the factory yellow or was it custom made to match?

Well jr launched out of gate, boat fell flat lean and stalled. Restart, dead last , held even ground. But last place. His passion for continuing second moto lost. Those finely tuned xpl old race boats just too fast for rec x4. We had more fun hanging in pits with fast guys,and helping. Spent three days with Chris Henrich. He rented his xpl to Kuwait guy. Took title home. Held for Craig Warners nephew on Henrichs other xpl. Helped Gyorgy Kasza out on 600 hp rxp. He won title. Helped out Thai guys , rode a 350hp carbon GPR 89 mph boat that scared shit out of me. Rebuilt buddies xpl, rode a 75 mph new ultra.. overall great time. My kid likes to wrench and help not race!

met some great people and had a great time! 951x4 made up river 60 mile rnd trip to pirates cove no prob.

Cool stories Brian, would have loved to take a little spin on your 951x4 but maybe next time. Came back to pits later on after a few races and didnt see your trailer there anymore.
 
I picked up a sweet parts ski for a steal. It was up in Henderson NV but the guy met me partway so I only had to drive 3.5-4hrs total for it. I stole it for $800 with titles for both ski and trailer.

Its a crusty 96 XP on a 97 Zieman double trailer. Its got Umi steering, bars, billet button housings, kvpi throttle, crusty jettrim covered hump seat, beach house sponsons, r&d tabs and plate extension, r&d grate, solas concord impeller (not sure what pitch, doesnt say on it), factory pipe spec 2 and factory water injection setup, assume its got a higher rev limiter but havent looked, its got novi carbs shaft to shaft not sure on size, r&d intake manifold, tau ceti flame arrestors, r&d head, he says the VTS works when I asked, setup for premix so oil light stays on and speedo doesnt work.

Its dark now but tomorrow will be some pictures for sure. He said its a running ski if I put new battery and clean or rebuild carbs its sat for almost 5 years in the sun without being taken out during that time. Not sure if I want to try to fire it over or just part it out like I planned. Kind of want to put one of my batteries in and some fresh gas and see what happens...

edit: the engine will turn when I turn the drive shaft by hand

I think Ive got full on X4 fever and I want to hoard it now even though I intended to part it when I first was looking at it on craigslist. Im even tossing around the idea of giving it a new paintjob and reviving it as a race ready ski and keeping my other skis engine bone stock for reliability and tooling around on marina gas.

I was looking closer at the titles and this guy was the original owner of the ski and trailer, pretty cool. He said he ran it on 92 octane when I asked if he had to run race gas in it or pump gas. I thought spec 2 couldnt run reliably on pump? I can only get 91 "supreme" here and one station near the lake has a 100 octane pump so I could mix if I needed to but damn Id rather not fill a tank with 100 octane that gets expensive fast.

edit: still havent even tried to crank it at all though I may be getting ahead of myself

With a spec 2 you have to keep the revs under control when running pump gas. I think max you want to hit is 7300 after that you have to worry about detonation. Matt can fill you in better than me. You may want to get some type of egt sensors
