@ dr Honda I know registering a ski is diff from state to state but what all did u need ?I know some only require the registration form and not the title at all. Tx requires a title does ur state require the same?

i know in NC if you have a noterized bill of sale and its not reported stolen you can get it registered. thats mainly because up until last year titles where not required for any vessel under 14'.

on another note intake grate review is going up tonight. now that i finally have power back i'll type it up when i get back from the lake.

In PA... titling a boat wasn't mandatory until a few years ago. So... the ski I bought didn't have a title, but had it's registration card signed by the original owner... and the person I bought it from. BUT... the person I bought it from never did the paperwork to put it in to their name. Spin the clock 6 years... and now the laws changed... so we had to trace down the original owner to get him to sign the papers to go from him to me. (and remove the person I got it from)

Basically... you need a notarized title, or a small "T-plate" shop that is willing to help you get the paperwork done.

Hi guys,

I put on my UMI top loader, and I shimmed the trim tabs down a few degrees. I hope to get it to the water tomorrow, and if I do... I'll give a ride report.

Scott's Worx's Maxi-loader review.

it inproved hook up and acceleration out of the hole, but increased porpusing at top speeds. over all i think i picked up 7 mph..... more tomorrow guys i'm too tried to type....

ok after all is said and done it was worth the 170 bucks, and acording to what i've been reading on greenhulk when i can aford a set of sponsons should solve the porpusing issue.

Owner of a X4 95 XP (some of you have helped me in my other threads). I've owned it since spring of 96, and ridden the hell out of it. Been following this thread for a few weeks, thought I'd chime in.

I've always coveted the 787. You guys have seriously got me thinking about getting one as a second ski. Although I won't claim to be a 'mechanic', I'm pretty handy (electronics background), and with all the work I've done to the 717, and the help through here, I feel pretty safe buying one knowing I'll be in for a project.

If anyone happens across a 96 in decent condition, in the Atlanta area, please let me know!

Welcome and good luck.

It took me 2 years to find my XP. with the 800 XP... either they are beat to hell... or they want WAY too much $$$ for a 15 year old ski.

I'm sure you will find one, but it may take awhile to find the right one.

no prob i usually look through the atlanta cl every few days.

dr is right on that second option is great, id do that in a second if both run good and then you got a double trailer to either put your 95 on or sell it and have you the best of both worlds speed and crusiing

Very cool! I saw that SPX, but thought it was a bit pricey. The second option I didn't see..and may be a great idea, because I would be keeping my 95 XP, and would need the double trailer. Sell the 3 seater along with my current trailer.....I may need to go check these out!

Sorry I thought it was an X4...what is it?

It's just a GSX. It was it's own hull.

The X4 is smaller, and lighter. It was the hull designed by Seadoo for racing. The GSX was made for a little better top speed, and a more stable ride with 2 people.

Did you move the post to it's own thread? I'd like to see it.

hey guys a little update on that 96 xp i found. i brought it home today to tinker with it and i got it goin some turns out the starter bendix was seized(looks like an ebay starter to me)the start/stop button is bad and the buzzer is out.so replaced all that with parts off my gsx and itll turn over i havent got it to fire up longer then a few secs but ill try more tomm when im not waking up the neighbors as their house is right next to my driveway where im doin the work

hey doc how did shimming your tabs work out?

I havn't had a chance to try them yet. Between work, family, and crappy weather... they've been sitting for 3 weeks. BUT... they are calling for 80 an no rain tomorrow... so I'm going to hit the water for a couple hours in the afternoon.

FYI... I also put on a UMI top loader.

Yep... eBay starters suck. There was a thread a couple weeks ago with pictures. The starter was totally destroyed and it was only a few rides old.

let me know how the umi is. the worx is great. i can pull 55 mph now but i still porpuse like hell.

I've been hunting for awhile and think I'm going the club on Friday with this. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/boa/2453727944.html it's a little more than I wanted to spend but I could use a trailer. We have a 95 xp which I love but have been lusting after a 96 xp fpr awhile. Wish me luck brothers it's in good condition. How do you test the compression? Same tool as a car and let it crank a few times? Thanks!

To check the compression, cold engine, spark plugs out, ground spark plug leads, open throttle and crank. 150psi is perfect, no more than 10% difference, 135psi and up is O.K., less than 130psi, probably needs a top end rebuild soon.

I don't know about Chicago but if it were here the ski is way over priced. I bought mine for 1300.00 including a nice trailer. I know I got a bargain but here that ski should be about 1700.00. It would really need to be exceptional to get 2700.00.

Lou

I believe I'm looking at $2200 w/trailer based on my last convo with him. Ive seen some here sell for what you paid but quickly snatched up. Thanks for the advice above :)
