Sounds like you have a project starting.

I want to change the traction mats... but I'm not sure what ones to get. I know it doesn't matter... but I'm kind of digging the yellow camo from Hydro Turf.

Brandon,

Wow, did you hit the lottery? I would think you need to remove the old seat covers, never tried leaving the old one's on.

Lou

Dr. Do the yellow camo I think it would look great, would like to see some pics of that too.

Lou,
Lol no, but after all that I need to hit the lottery, just usually work a lot of overtime. N been waiting to order till I could order it all. When I get everything Ima take a pic of skis. Add everything n take new pic.

ok so i got my grate on today and i'm thinking about playing hooky from work tomorrow to test it lol......

I think you should. AND... if gas wasn't $4/gal... I'd make the 8 hr trip down there to join you.

Oh well... guess I need to be a good boy, and go to work.

Let us know how it goes.

tell me about it, I'm soon to have TWO X4's: I'll have to start taking out small mortgages to pay my monthly fuel bill for them. I know the books say that they eat 11gpm, but has anyone ever tested this or come up with a different number? I find that they last longer than I anticipate every time...

First... you need to add an Avatar picture. You've been here long enough, and we need to ID you easier.

Second... yep... 11 to 12 Gal/hr is right for the 800 engine. I will burn most of the tank every time I take it out. (will switch to reserve to get back)

haha, I agree, I need an avatar. problem is, I've not finished restoring the seadoos to the point where they can serve in my avatar. I see you guys don't change yours, so mine's got to be good too :) Hopefully, this month I'll be able to put a face on the name.

As for the fuel usage, I wonder if running half throttle uses half the fuel... An amateur would think so, but I bet the fuel circuits would have to be perfectly calibrated for that. One day, when I have time (will probably never happen), it would be nice to make a lock that stops throttle mid-way, and do a plug chop that way. Regardless of what the 787's get, my 580 will run all day. Took my mom out on the lake Sunday and rode for the better part of 4 hours covering the whole length of Jordan Lake.

yes at half throttle you use half the fuel. i can run all day on a tank. there are times i beach or find and abanddoned dock to chill on, or find a little place to spin around a bit. so realaliscly i can run around for about 4-5hours on a tank. the main thing you have to remember is from 3/4 to WOT you gain about 4-5 mph but use 40% more fuel. so what i'm trying to say is when your going to a destonation, run at 3/4 throttle.

Wow, thanks ppl-eater, I was thinking that it got peak efficiency/mileage at full throttle, when it's minimizing throttling losses.

nope... water is not easy to push through. Your peak speed Vs. Fuel will be around 75% power. And as said above... you will use about 40% less, with only a 15% drop in speed.

so ive got my grate testing done but you guys have to wait till i'm not running on a generator for me to type it up. one hell of a storm came thought tonight and knocked out the whole county as well as the three surrounding counties.

Hey guys sorry for not checkin in but I was racing my X-4 in a regional event close by over the weekend. The machines let me down in the last turn of the first race, but out of the gate and first couple of laps they held up against the big bux race boats.

Purple: You're killing me. WE NEED THAT REPORT !!!

Minnatonka: Very nice. Didn't know you were racing your X4.

I typically dont...and that is why they failed. Racing is a whole 'nother animal. One overheated, and the other had some sort of fuel delivery problem.

found this little gem while i was out looking for orings for my gsx,the lady at ace hardware said shes had it for few years and wants to sell it since its sitting up.now i went and looked at it today and couldnt get it started.i didnt even get a beep off the key,i checked all fuses and they all appeared fine.now there was a little wire on the rear ebox that had been spliced from the inside the ebox and past the plug that goes in it ill post a pic later.now the ski isint without its faults the 2 major ones are they havethe title to it but the previous owner signed it but never titled it and is believed to be in prison second next to the grate the gel coat is chipped off all the way to the fiberglass now idk what can be done on the gel coat and the title and i still have to get it cranked or turn over to check compression but at the same time she only wants 500$ for it

well they have the title but they are the 3rd owners, the second person signed the back of the title but never actually registered it in his name.so the problem is that i cant actully sign it to put it in my name so itll be registered to me and the old couple think the guys whoes name is on it is in prison.the person who its registered to lives in another town close by im hoping i can track him down and see if we can file for lost title cuz idk what else is possible.

Well you live in tx to so ya its a big pain man. Tpwd is very strict. I would call them and ask for some options. If not I'd still by it just to part out lol.

yea ive talked to tpwd before cuz i wanted to buy a really nice kawa stand up,least here with the xp the original owner lives close by if i can just find him.im gna run the vin and hull numbers later and get the name and make sure it not reported stolen but its an old couple who own them and they told me they talked to the original owner when they got the ski from the second owner and he told them what to do to get it titled but bein in their 50s they could care less from what theyve told me.either way i could use the engine for my gsx might offer less and just take it i kno i can get my money easy out this ski

The one I just bought was the same way. All the paperwork was messed up, but we got it fixed.

For $500... GET IT !! even if you can't fix the paperwork, there is $2k to $3k worth of parts to sell on eBay.

Yeah its more like $1500-2000 in parts, but anything I can double my money on is a good deal! $500 is a steal if the motor is good.

Just b/c people ask asz-raping prices on ebay doesnt mean they sell anything. There are many parts that rarely sell too.

@ dr Honda I know registering a ski is diff from state to state but what all did u need ?I know some only require the registration form and not the title at all. Tx requires a title does ur state require the same?
