Yup Im in to get there Friday, and leaving Monday sometime. Stay the day, take a nice nap, then drive thru the night.

Is there anywhere else to stay close by for the overflow?

I'm not exactly sure I want to be on that lake during the holiday weekend. Seems someone is either severely hurt or killed every year that weekend there. I'll prolly adjust my days to make sure there is overlap with the overall group some at least.

I severely recommend either planning to end the trip that Sat or plan to get there monday and ride tues, wed, thurs or something like that.

Why is that Suke? I mean lakes here are busy on Memorial Day but not so busy that it is unsafe to ride.

Yeah I can hear more drunks out on the holiday weekend, but if Im driving 24hrs Id sure like to see maximum boat traffic.

It's unsafe to ride there with it that busy. It'd just be a washing machine and so much traffic jumping wakes would either by crazy dangerous or impossible.

My lakes down here get busy during holidays, but no where near as bad as Norman. Almost every year there's a news story of a serious injury on that lake from that weekend. It'd suck for people to come all this way and hardly be able to ride. Even worse would be for someone to get hurt.

No offense but grow a pair... I ride every memorial day weekend with no problems.

I'm still down to make the drive and ride, it's going to be that way any where we go that weekend as long as it's a nice weekend

I would really prefer the weekend before. Much quieter (on the water), better water for the family. We are not X4 people so cruising is more fun without being bashed. I was on a lake near there on the 4th of July and could only stay in the coves. JMO also, we will not be competing with others for the rooms and dock area. I doubt you could do buoys or poker runs on that weekend.

lol wait...what? These people don't know this lake, at all. You willing putting yourself out there in those conditions is totally on you. Throwing a bunch of people unfamiliar with the area in those conditions is irresponsible....like it or not . Now if it was like 4 people and it was all grown men. Sure, why not you'd be there to escort. It's easy to navigate with just a few people. Get a larger group of what quite possibly sounds like family folks....it becomes impossible. Especially the place we picked out with the docks. If I get out voted, no biggie, I don't have to be there. Just want people to go in with open eyes.

Agreed. I figured the group ride would be similar to the one we did last fall where everyone seemed like an experienced rider. If anyone is new to the sport then you will likely be beat to death by the Norman waves. Honestly, the lake is always busy even on non holiday weekends. I like it when all the boats come out because it makes for great wake jumping. If you want to avoid all the lake congestion, the area where the hotel is at should be perfect. There are a ton coves off of the main channel. I guess i forget that people actually cruise on jetskis. To me they are toys to beat the hell out of and go as fast as possible on. The pontoon is for relaxing and cruising the lake

Voted out? No man its not like that. Everyone's input is needed for the group as a whole to make a decision. I definitely understand people with families coming may not be down for a holiday weekend. I'm coming by myself. Another thing to think about is not putting an inexperienced rider on a ski. But I'm still down for the holiday weekend. I figure I'll be on a lake somewhere I've been doing it for all my life

Yea I understand it being a holiday weekend but looking at a map of the lake it looks like there is nothing around this place. I wouldn't think it would be as crowded as more developed areas. Everyone's input is need especially locals. Rough water is not a deal breaker for me personally though
