So, wasn't this going to be a winter project for you? Short of maybe a little wax and detailing it looks like you're fresh out of things to do almost.

I am using baby wipes cleaning up the surfaces inside the ski :-D

What are these silver patches in the ski?

They cover the silicone that is covering the screws where they protrude thru the hull from the ride plate.

Baby wipes, seriously? Get some expanding rubber plugs to seal the intakes, smear a dab of grease over the carb bolt holes and use some Castrol Super Clean and hot water or my bilge cleaning formula.

2.5 gallons of the hottest water you can get your hands on, 1/2 cup TSP powder and steal a capful of laundry soap from your wife. Put the bilge drain plug in, hook it up to the Jeep and dump that whole mess in the bilge and go for a drive you remember that ski you looked at when you were here I had just done the motor on? It was ten times worse than your's and that cleaned it right up.

Seriously, baby wipes :-D just to clean the engine and pipes and other components. Not the bilge.
Here is a picture after baby wipes the engine head. :-)

I thought it looks pretty good.

And I will try your formula for sure to clean the bilge. Can I just use the super clean and hot water and drive?

Not bad for baby wipes! :) Just spray the whole inside with super clean and hose it out, be careful not to get any on the outside of the ski it will streak the graphics.

Just get a spray bottle, super clean 100% (no diluting it--that's for girls) and wear gloves. Do not get it on the graphics and I would not get it on the engine paint, it will dull it. As far as the silver tabs, you could silicone it back on, but I assume they put them there just to make sure they all got siliconed. I don't subscribe to fill and tow method, but to each his own. You can check my 96 resto thread for static results. Did I mention to wear gloves?

Pto carb is apart :-)

Planning to get an ultra sonic tub.
Looking around for a used one.

That is so clean I'd just hit it with some cleaner, a rebuild kit and N/S and be done with it. Pop off test just to be sure. But it probably would be fine.

I have kit and N/S coming in. Probably arrive today according to the tracking :-)

Picking up this ultrasonic cleaner in the morning. :-D

$_20 (1).JPG$_20.JPG

The tank size is perfect for carb cleaning. 9.5"x5.5"x4"

What is the trick to get the paper gasket off the fuel pump block? Forgot what I did on the 951. But this one on the 787 carb is totally stuck on, probably because I am the first one to take it off in the past 17 years.
I soaked it in warm water. Helped a little. Can I spray it with gasket remover, the bubbly stuff?

Nobody touched the low speed screw in 17 years! Manufacturer painted the carbs after configured them. The paint masking is still showing on the spring.
Also testing my $0.99 camera app on iPhone 6. It is amazing!

Toss it in your ultrasonic cleaner, it should lift right off.

I ripped most of gasket off and put it in the tank. I think the power for the cleaner is not strong enough. Water did turn dirty like noodle soup, but paper still there.

After soaked in the water for long time, it became soft and i can just scrap it off.

Thanks Bob for giving the total length of the fuel lines I will need.

Got the fuel lines: 20' of 1/4" and 5' of 5/16".

I paid 80 cents a foot for line and 25 cents for every stainless clamp. I had to do two Ski's that had not been touched for 13 years. The carbs had never been opened ever.

I took it back and got $70 back. They don't take cut pieces back.
I will order one spool of 1/4" online.

I have about 10 foot left over from both jobs. Keep it in the tool box I take with me on Ski trips. Never know, might save your day at the lake.

I just checked the low speed screws and high speed screws on my 97 SPX.

Both low speed screws are 1 turn out.

High speed screw on the MAG one is dead tight closed.

But the high speed screw on the PTO is about 3/8 to 1/2 turn out. (after removed the plastic cap).

Is it the factory setting? Again on the manual there is no table for the high speed setting.
