That's near me, but it's high priced.
Tim, (El Toro) remember that skis are priced higher here in Michigan than Florida. but I agree it's still too high. Of course all CL ads are overpriced so when you make an offer then you are about right on target. Offer about $1200-$1300 on that one. He might get $1500 in the Spring.
PS I hate sideway pics.

yes sadly, 96 xp's just don't fetch much these days, especially down here, they seem to be capped at around $1500 stock, even ones with aftermarket stuff don't work their way up to 2K.

It's home!

Just got in a little bit ago with the boat :). Overall, the hull is very nice- minimal fading, will clean up well. I'm going to have to remove the Seadoo padding and such from the hatch cover, it's pretty dry and curling so I'm gonna take it off and just buff the whole hatch. Seats are a mess, haven't decided which way I'm gonna go with them yet. It looks like they physically shrunk, so just recovering them may not be an option. Probably going to have to build something from scratch.

This was my first time ever seeing one of these speedsters, so I was shocked by the size difference between that and my 08 150. Lol, my wifes 4 banger Hyundai Santa Fe wasn't happy with it though..

Here are some pics. Going outside now to pull the pump and try to do some diagnosing on the non running engine :).IMAG2136.jpgIMAG2137.jpgIMAG2138.jpgIMAG2139.jpgIMAG2140.jpg

Nice dingy next to the speedster. Post up some good pics, no sugar coating it either. They look so cool next to each other! Did you haggle?

They do push your vehicle, I tow with my 97 Yukon and I can feel all of it behind me, I couldn't imagine a Santa fe, white knuckle ride.

I call dibs on the seat foams if your going some other way.

Haha, funny how this one dwarfs the 150! My seadoo tech friend said I will love this boat over the 150, said it rides much better and is a lot more comfortable. Once it's running, I'll take it out and whichever one I like most, I'll keep :).

LMAO, white knuckle- I had to go over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and have serious vertigo- I was white knuckled on the way up to get the boat, I think I blacked out on the way back lol!

glad u got the boat kwiktsi, i'm sure you'll notice too, but on the nonrunning engine, it didn't look like there was ANY gap on the spark plug, or it coulda been my imagination

btw it looks awesome!

Thanks! I am glad I made the drive, and THANK YOU for checking it out last night!

It's not your imagination, the motor was hydrolocked which is why it wouldn't turn over. Pulled the plugs and it spun right over. Yanked the head and the cylinders were surprisingly rust free. Going to mess with it tomorrow, check the CB cavity for water, etc. and see if I can get it to fire up, then decide what it needs from there.

that boat looks so good, not even just specifically that one, but those speedsters are so sexy, if i ever decide to look for a jet boat, i'm gonna look for those first

that one actually looks nice, but the reserve still hasn't been met yet :willy_nilly:
this was my GSX i owned a couple of years ago i sold it just as summer was ending for $3200

Thank you for your interest in my 96 Seadoo Speedster.

Right side engine ran, but powered down when giving it throttle. Now I cant start it. I'm told it needs to have the carb rebuilt at your local JetSki shop. I had both rebuilt about a year ago, could be that is just an adjustment. Ran fine last outing, but recently gave it a test run in the lake and had trouble with that engine. Could be minor tweak or could be fuel line, but seems to sound fine out of the water. In any case if you can fix it or have someone who can fix it, you will have a super fun boat for very little $$. Also trailer needs running board and bracket repair.

UPDATE: Right side engine turns over but does not fire. Must be fuel related, possible clogged line or something in the fuel injection needs to be unblocked. Other engine fires right up.
UPDATE: One of the trailer runners/brackets needs to be replaced.
2 most likely simple fixes and you are one the water at 50mph!
This boat sells from $4500 to $6000 on ebay and craigslist. So if you want to repair, use a while, and sell it on, you might be able to make some quick cash!

Two life jackets included.

A few months ago replaced battery, added compass, new fuel gauge and sender, mounted removable cooler to front seat section (see photo). Oil mix is now premix as previous owner decided it was safer to mix own oil instead of relying on the oil pump mechanism. Each engine has its own oil tube which needs to be topped off every 20 hours or so. I only topped it off once in the last two trips, only to be sure the level was not low.

Recently had both carbs overhauled by a certified shop here in Miami called Jet Skis of Miami by the Falls and US1. New gasket set, set and adjust carbs, and get them running smoothly. I had brought it in for overhaul because one of the carbs wouldnt start well every once in a while. Now, they start up great. The twin engines provide a bunch of thrust and have obtained 49 mph in choppy water (using GPS). I have 5-7 hours only on the rebuild.

Seats cushions are in nice shape, but may need to be redone in a few more years.

iPod/MP3 player included. Stereo mount is there, but I had the original head unit removed. It now runs an iPod, Android, or any other device with minijack output directly to an amplifier which produces the music on the speakers. Works and sounds great with a toggle switch to turn the amp on/off so not to disturb the longevity of the battery while not in use.

New fire extinguisher included.

New cooler mounting straps included. Cooler not included (Can remove and snap in seat cushion instead)

New flares included.

New whistle included.

Replaced reverse cable for starboard engine. Works great now. Previous owner just locked the can in the forward position.

Includes SeaDoo cover (green). Has patched hole in center to prevent leaking. Cover works well to keep leaves and dirt off. Some of the buckles have deteriorated and no longer are functional. All in all cover is in decent shape.

Speedometer does not work for some reason. Could be the sender itself or the guage.

Marker lights may not work as well and would need to be sorted out. I never ran it close to night so it didnt concern me. Could be an easy fix.

Engine blower is good.

Bilge pump is good.

Canopy cover has new straps. Canopy can be removed in a few minutes if you want to use it on some days, but not others.

Trailer included. Since obtaining this boat I intended to fix one of the runners on the trailer as the boat rests on the side of the runner. Its never been a problem, so I just left it like that and can launch or load the boat with out any rubbing on the hull. Note: Last time out, the right side runner broke and needs to be repaired with new brackets

Lots of fun and have a great time on your SeaDoo!
Any questions call Jeff at 305-232-0100. Boat is located in West Kendall near Tamiami Airport.

I gotta question for you FLA guys, why the guide sticks on the trailers? I see so many of these CL listings that have them, you guys have clear water compared to us up north and I can see my trailer no problem. I see them on trailers up here and there, but those guys are the fishermen who are retired--they might not see to good;). No offence to the "older" guys on the forum here. I totally understand protecting your investment but I see guys loading 90K+ boats without them with ease. Just curious, not trying to stir the pot.

I've also seen a lot of people mount their lights on them (not in this case), but i'm thinking it also serves to keep lights outta water

Because the average age in FL is 105, they need all the help seeing their trailer that they can get :D. Seriously though, I was told it is for both visibility and to help guide the boat onto the trailer without floating left or right. Depending on the vehicle I am towing with, there are times where they would probably be helpful backing in an empty trailer, but I manage. That is the next step after this damn bimini top and I refuse to take it lmao.

After seeing this 96 for $1750, I feel even better about my purchase :D.

yes the guide sticks were on my 96 challengers trailer as well, and on a single trailer I bought last year too.
they DO help when backing down, especially for a novice trailer operator. Over time, they're not necessary.

when I first bought my ski, i purchased portable sticks at wally world, used them religiously, after about 30 trips down the ramp, I didn't need them anymore at all, i've got it figured out now, i can actually back my car into the driveway with a trailer better than I can without one, since my brain has everything in reverse !

I still get a kick out of watching newb's back their trailers down, brings back funny memories of my learning experiences. now when i see an old geezer watching me back down, i know i'm going to disappoint him by not screwing up :) more often than not when I'm getting back in the car I hear the comment "not your first time eh ?"

joe, if you don't like the bimini, sell it... or save it for your buyer... I actually liked having it on my challenger, it was nice to have shade in the summer for a lounge day on the boat.

Got it, to me they are just gay looking (like a Bimini top:lols:), I don't care what they do. I also don't like anything touching my boat on the side--even the rub rail. It wasn't until about 3 years ago that I actually strung up a line with three fender bumpers on them so I could tie up my boat. I always had my wife hold the boat OFF the dock so it wouldn't get scratched. Now with two "active" kids who love to explore the wild life I have to tie it off while I get the truck and back down the ramp. I do have to fight the current at the ramp I use the most and then compound that with a cross wind--it blows loading, no pun intended. On the days where it is real bad I'll walk the boat on with lines attached. Yes, this is all my demented logic, but some how in my mind it all makes sense--to me. I always say I could be on America's Funniest Videos by spending an hour or two filming the boat ramp, I have seen some priceless drunks there, the drunk husband and wife combo's are the best.

Yes, I forgot about your "snowbird" population.

yes ! you can't beat the drunk couples yelling at each other ! he starts yelling, she's screwing up and starts yelling back, its hilarious, and at times a little scary when you wonder if your going to have to step in and say "hey buddy, knock off the chit and quit yelling at your wife"

I'll share my story, just because its funny....

when I first got my ski i met my bro in law at the ramp for an afternoon ride, it was my 2nd time out, meaning my 2nd time backing down a trailer as well. he got there first and had already beached his ski, so he hops on my ski to ride it down the ramp, with plans to throw it in reverse when i'm deep enough and beach it for me while I park. Duly noted there are at least a half dozen grey hairs on the bench watching the "show", and duly noted that he grew up on boats/trailers and was 15 years with the coast guard.

Well this poor bastard is sitting on my ski on the trailer while I back it down badly, jack knife at least 4 times, back out, try again, turn the wrong way, the grey hairs are giggling and I can hear them... "not that time, try again", "whoops, missed it again" and I can see my bro in law thru the back window and he's literally ready to hop off and choke me !!! Well, about 9 attempts later, to applause from the crowd, I get him in the water so he can power out. After I parked and walked back to the beach area he was still scowling at me and wishing he had never ever ever invited me out for a ride that day. (and to top it off, (no pun intended) I had failed to fill up the oil tank so not 20 minutes into the ride i'm getting the red light and the beep beep beep warnings), so we had to turn back, beach, and he had to wait for me to drive home to get my oil & return.

He sold his ski and went with a sailboat about 2 months after that, and I still wonder if I had something to do with it :)

Spim that is priceless.

My best story about the drunk husband/wife is this:

Come back from a nice day of riding with the Mrs'. on our XP's. This cat has his late 90's S-10 two wheel drive backed down the ramp and tide went out so were down to the slime on the ramp. He's struggling his ass off to get this boat on the trailer while his haggered anorexic wife is puffing away on her Marlboro 120's shouting to him what to do. WRONG, you don't tell a man what to do on the ramp EVER, zip your lip your along for the ride and to look pretty! Anyway this is going on for a good while and the tide is coming in, at this point I'm not sure what the issue is but the bickering is getting bad--jugular slashing bad. So with the 30 pack of empties in the boat he hops into the S-10 and goes to pull out. So to compound his reactions time being delayed this truck is a stick shift. While on this ramp you could launch the Space Shuttle it's that steep and 7 or 8 lanes wide. Anyway, he rolls back deeper and pops the clutch and pasted the gas pedal to the carpet, Houston, we have a problem-BIG TIME. So this ensues for a good 10 minutes of trying to get traction. The ass end is getting deeper and deeper, by this point the carpets are wet up to the brake pedal. Oh yeah, his old lady is STILL raggin' on him and there is about 50-60 people chanting and laughing. So this other dude backs down the ramp and throws a strap around a tow hook on his truck and yanks him, the boat and ALL the water in the cab and truck bed up the ramp. It was the greatest ramp experience of my life and I wish I could have got it on tape.

Then I'll have holes in the boat lol. Seriously though, I'm sure it will come in handy for the "family". Then again, so would a minivan, still not my thing haha. My wife loves that it has it.

Racer- you'd freak if you saw the rub rail on my 08! The docks at the lake we used in PA were absolutely horrible and tore the snot out of them- nails poking through, nail heads sticking out, lag bolt heads, you name it- and NO rubber bumpers anywhere on them :(. They scratched the hell out of the rub rails, the boat and decals in spots... The shape of the Speedster made it almost impossible to use rubber bumpers to protect the sides, so they did no good.

Then to top it off, the two times the 08 broke down here, it was going under the highway bridge on windy days, so I had to tie off to the bridge pillars which are concrete and covered in barnacles.. Not the best thing for rubber rub rails..

your bimini must attach different than mine, 96 challenger, two clips up front, and two clips in the back that mounted with a pin, when I took the bimini off, it was just 4 clips with nothing attached to them, no holes.

here's one of the front clips on mine, bottom left of the pic...this was before restoration. the rear clips were just little black plast things that stuck up about an inch if I remember correctly. it was easily removable....

the design must have changed i guess.
