wanted to ask u guys a few q's, so i think i replaced the voltage regulator on my 96 gsx, and I also replaced the fuel lines, it used to start up just fine, and revved fine on land, I put it in the water, it ran... wouldn't go over 4350 rpm, and i would estimate the speed to be 15-20 mph, i took it out of the water, started it a few more times, I think the battery died, I had charged it last week, so it could be a bad battery? anyways I put another battery in it, now it's having a hard time starting unless i pull the choke, and if i rev it all the way, it will cut off. Does this just sound like carbs need cleaning/rebuilt?

also, spim if you want the motor, i'll give the guy a call tomorrow and see where he's at, if it's not too far, i can pick the motor up for you, I'm driving to miami on friday and heading back up on saturday

I would love that but it's too far away. You should have thought of me on that mpem, I may have had one laying around.

I have not said until now that I love that carbon fiber hood on the yellow (painted) 94 in the middle of the page.

RacerXXX- your right about the 91 not having trim. I didn't realize that. I've never had a 91 but have had a couple 92's before. I've never heard the manual trim called "spanish trim" before. I have it added to my 90.

Nam your sure its from a GTI?
I can always pick up for anyone too. 1.5 hr away is a blink of the eye and a chicken dinner

Thanks Matt for the heads up.
I was going to pm you but then I was like he's all 787.
Never heard of you and 717's

I have three Speedsters with two 717's each and a 90 with a 717(that I just ripped out to fix a Speedster). I'm now working on the "ultimate 717". I don't own one yet but Seadoo gave certain race teams a upright RAVE engine before the 787"s came out the following year. I want one of these for my 1990 ST, yes I said ST. It would just be the best of early to mid 90's cool rare racy stuff. Right now it's just a plan(slightly more than a dream).

But yes OCOD you were right, I think my loose mpem pile is all 787.

does anybody want me to pick up the motor? the guy won't tell me where he's located, but says "i'm on the way if i'm going to miami" I even asked for a major intersection, cause I understand not wanting to give addresses unless someone is really interested, anyways...

Yeah I'm coming into central Fl next weekend. But don't go too far out of your way for a salty/blown engine.

I've never heard the manual trim called "spanish trim" before.

Spanish Trim= Manuel (pronounced Man-Well) AKA: Manual Trim, no electronics.

No I'm not ripping on anyone of Spanish descent. My father in law pulled that on me one night at a high-end restaurant when the waitress came out and "swept" the table crumbs with a small broom. He asked me if I knew what that was called, I said nope, that was when he proceeded to tell me it was a Spanish Vacuum. Man-Well, needless to say I almost spit my beer on him. Hearing it in my Father in laws thick Hungarian accent makes it priceless. So now anytime we see something of manual operation we call it Spanish "whatever". Feel free to use it if you like it.

I'm tripping over blown/locked 717's here. But with that said..I'd love to buy another for only $100. The thing might be worth $200 so I should probably save any favor you fellow members might be willing to do for me. If it is convenient then yes, otherwise no.

just talked to him, said I would pick it up friday, thought I would offer him $80 and he accepted, I figured it was more appropriate to haggle now, versus telling him I would take it, and then get there and haggle him.

ok cool, i'll give him a call to see where he's at

Nam,
Just say where around are you and ask what time is convenient for him so you can plan your route.

Let him know you'll be coming from 75/ Turnpike or 95 and that will narrow down his location of Broward.

Im close to 75 if you need extra hands.

I wouldn't low ball to much on phone for 100 bucks.
When you get there it may be a whole different story and it look like it was used as anchor.

edit: 80 sounds better. Guess pictures would be pointless
:p

thanks for offer oscar, motor shouldn't be too big a problem, i carried my 787 in the spare ski back and forth, I talked to him on phone, he gave me his addy, only only adds bout 20 min on my trip total.

What a day for FL classifieds! Nam went and dug up that $100 engine deal only to find it still half attached to the ugly hull, saltier than hoped for , and full of broken bolts. Needless to say we decided to pass but I still owe him a big favor for his time and effort.

Then on the way home from work I stopped in on on those fellas with the parts that I posted last night. The hull was in OK shape if anyone wants it but it's not my style. I bought this sweet/complete 787 and a silver(salt use) 717 plus two complete pumps and two big boxes of random BRP parts for $250! Both motors seem to turn free and have compression.

I wonder if that is the same GTI that I passed on back in June.
Nam did the guy live in a trailer park?

hey guys, i feel like it's been forever since i've been on the comp, and it hasn't even been 2 days yet, no problem at all matt, it was barely any trouble at all

he was actually a 19 y.o. african american fellow, and he lived in a house, but pretty run down, also, it was the boxy gti, so i believe it was pre 96 and not a 97. the ski looked like complete pos.
