Here is the answer I got when asked why did the first motor blow and who did the rebuild?..........

From the owner -
Hi the reason the motor went bad is because from what I hear around 100 hours the top end usaly goes on the motor. It just gets wore out I'm guessing from the high rpms they do but that's just a general I also have a 951 gtx and that has 150 hours on the first motor. Idk if it runs longer because it's a little more oil goin into it or what but I didn't adjust it it's just on stock whatever it came with. The motor was rebuilt by seadoo engine shop it's a place in PA that takes them does a all new top end in it and the bottem is re done bearings and seals and stuff like that. Aperently what mine was doing was somthing in the seals in the bottem and had air in there and leaned it out or somthing witch wore it out.

Sabr - You are the man for 951s, do they only last 100 hrs for the top end.

I actually did some research on these RXX's and the manual states from BOMBARDIER that the the top end is to be rebuilt every 100hrs ,and the wrist pins are to be replaced every 25hrs .............god that has to be a sick nasty fast ski lol what would cause that ? wicked high rpms? really high compression? is has Rinaldi Reeds overjetted carbs and the dual pipes and thats it. only difference whatsoever! oh and you have to re torque the head every 10 hours to make sure everythings snug. REDICULOUS! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Newberry Fl is about 5 miles from my parents house. If that dead, overpriced couch was a $500 X4 then I would ask dad to go over and scoop it up for me.

This looks like a cool project,

Its clean and trailer just like he likes them.
Looking to move into 4-techs haha
Me too:piggy:

Man I was just looking around on that Fort Meyers CL---I'd be friggin broke if I lived down there. I could almost drive down get stuff and bring it back up here and make money. Just ridiculous. I'd be tempted to send one of my buddies rigs down there with a 53' enclosed behind it and fill it, your all lucky down there!

yes, yes he should !

i'm still thinkin bout it, i just wanted a lot of skiis so more of my family could be on the water at one time, but i'm already dreading going to the gas pumps before a ride, and also the $27.97 gallon of quicksilver oil.

plus my red gsx isn't up and running yet, so i should prob wait til that one is a go

i'm in that area, its been good pickings around here for yrs !
i've been avoiding CL for the past two weeks deliberately! I have 5 projects in the works and i'm out of space ! and dam near tapped out on money until I sell a couple. at this point I can only buy things that I can store in the back yard and can sit for 45 days.

(but now i'm going to go peek around and see what is catching your eye !)

if you have 1 thats running, consider making the drive down to the peace river with us next sunday (tenative) exit 167 off I 75.

re: thinking about it....
as a rule of thumb, only buy what you can afford and can store, and flips aren't easy if your not doing 90+% of your own work, if your paying for labor then flips have to be true no brainers.

I think his SPI may be a little too quick for ya Spim . Sorry Nam, seriously though if that Kawi thing is still sitting there for $500(doubt it) then my buddy said he would scoop it up for me.

I love the way he throws in the deal breaker right at the end. Everything is a go and then..................no engine.

I have a Seadoo hoarding problem xxx, it's well known here.

yea i had so much frustation with my carb, i don't think i'll be flipping anything, but you're right about the storage and costs, as good a deal as i've gotten on skiis, they're more work and money than i initially thought, they love gas, esp the ethanol free kind

oh no worries, hope you get it, there is prob a good chance it's still there, he has it listed at 750 just a few days ago. he only said 500 cause i offered him 350 for just the ski, and he wanted it to go as a package. I know I coulda sold the trailer for bout 100-150 easy, but i figured that was a sign that i shouldn't be buying it. i'm pretty sure i shouldn't be incurring another cost at this very moment, plus i've been waiting for my skiis to get running, so i'm about to get the titles in my name and register them.

and thanks for the invite again spim, i'll be in gainesville until early oct anyway, that's kinda why i look at jacksonville CL, whenever i'm in the area, i search where i would be willing to drive, cause if i were in tampa, there is no way i would drive up to jax for a $500 standup ski, ok i prob would, but it would have to be a lot newer than an 89

Mine extends past the Seadoo's. It's Vintage Ski-Doo, Moto-Ski, and Yamaha sleds, Honda 3 Wheelers, Restored/Unrestored cars, lifted trucks and so on. If I could only channel in to one hobby it would be great, and better for the wallet. It doesn't help that my son is an enabeler(like how I blame an 8 year old), he mentioned Seadoos and I went out and picked up this 96 XP I'm working on in less than a week. But I already had 2 Seadoo's I could work on.

Listed as a GTX but its a GSX, The Yamapig would just be cool to drive in my creek.

My problem is flipping stuff, I guess you might call it hoarding tendencies.

now this is funny, but i've seen the first pair, when I got there another buyer was working on a deal and it was sold right in front of me, i think he forgot to remove the ad, i actually was more interested in the venture because I know someone looking for one (which is crazy, i hate ventures)

the second ski i'm 95% sure i got the call on this one as well a friend looked at it the price was $300 and I didn't go look at it because I was knee deep into other projects, i'm thinking somebody bought this for $300 and decided to do a quick flip. the no core part doesn't bother me i have at least 3 cores here, and at $300 it was a good buy, at $650 just ok, but the 97's surprisingly still sell for $1800 around these parts, and if they are super clean can still push over 2K. its really not that hard to Frankenstein together a 787 but you still looking at investing a minimum of $600 cash even if you have some of the parts laying around.

don't hoard complete ski's ! only hoard parts that make complete ski's !

pretty sure someone was looking for an RX hull without engine, or was it a busted engine

http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/boa/3265357976.html

flkustom was, and actually that's the right price for a stripped hull but there is a LOT to add to that to actually make a runner, that's a good $1700 project right there if you buy the stuff you need over a few weeks time, but that would take time & effort, starting from the ground up like that always includes a lot of misc stuff that gets overlooked in the original budget. but this hull would be perfect for an inclined person with time and ability do maybe move everything from a damaged hull to this clean hull.
