Title for ski in hand, no paper work for trailer but is included. Bought ski as a project but need to sell. The motor is locked up, so it will need to be rebuilt. I believe all of the parts are there. The carbs need rebuilt, freeze plugs in exhaust and new rave valves.

honestly a 96, in florida for 500 with blown engine is fair, but not a great buy, 100 to transfer title, 900 engine, assumes NOTHING else is wrong, now you have 1500 invested in a 1500 dolla ski. that assumes nothing else is wrong, and that is never the case...

AND you have to spend time making it run. the stock 96 xp's don't really sell much higher than 1500 around these parts. IMO its a pass but just barely, I see similar listing's pretty often and I don't even go look at them, now I will buy a 97 in that price range with similar issues, because they'll sell for 1800-2200 depending on how clean you can make them but still...

and honestly, where I see the savings/profit is by NOT buying a replacement motor, but rebuilding the existing motor, cuts 3-500 out of the cost,, which is where the profit is. but there is a LOT of labor involved not matter what you do, you save more time with an engine swap, but you kill your profit.

yea i hear ya, i don't think it's worth it either, i just knew you were lookin for that x4 hull, and i recall u saying 400-500 for a full parts ski, with these mid 90's skiis, I wouldn't buy them to flip em (assuming I even knew how to fix em) because even good running ones can barely fetch 1200

I want the engine.

ONE OF A KIND 96 SEADOO HX. IT HAS A CARBON FIBOR HOOD,UMI STEERING,ONE OF A KIND 7 VEIN SCAT-TRAC PUMP,NOVI CARBS,MSD IGNITION,FUEL PUMP, BILDGE PUMP, ETC.... NOW FOR THE ENGINE "WOW" CAN'T REALLY EXPLAIN. I BELIEVE IT IS A BOMBARDIER (SKI-DOO) SNOWMOBILE ENGINE BUILT BY MEL MILLER(RACING ENGINE SPECIALIST). I BELIEVE IT IS A 1085CC ENGINE. IT LOOKS VERY SIMILAR TO A 787 ENGINE THAT SEA-DOO USES FOR SOME OF THEIR SKI'S. IT RUNS FINE BUT MIGHT NEED SOME FINE TUNING ON THE CARBS ( WHICH I'M NOT KNOWLEDGABLE ENOUGH TO DO ON THIS MACHINE) IT WAS CLOCKED ON THE WATER @ 74 MPH BY GPS.i HAVE HAD THIS MACHINE FOR ABOUT 5 -6 YEARS NOW AND MY INTERESTS HAVE CHANGED SO i AM SELLING IT. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT OFF OF PUT $20,000 INTO THIS MACHINE. I AM ASKING $6000 O.B.O. NOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT I WILL INCLUDE A DOUBLE TRAILER.IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS OR WANT MORE PIC'S FEEL FREE TO CALL OR TEXT ME. THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.

so if i'm not wanting to spend money on repairs and stuff, stay away from the 951's? later gtx's and gsx's? i know that sounds obvious, but are those engines that troubled?

i was seriously thinking about a 2001 GS for $1300, titled and "running" but now the ad is gone, i think it sold today cause i just talked to him last night

thing is 951 is a 951.

The 787 and 717 are first and second and vice versa in reliability.
Difference 787 has more moving parts and more maintenance.

cool, thanks for the info, I just want a fast, cheap maintenance, and GOOD LOOKING ski :)

who doesn't right?

I bought my broken 2000 GS because the 720 is simpler than the rave engines, and seems to be mechanically very similar to my old SP's. If you're comfortable working on your 96, the 720 machines will be just as easy. And they make 80 horses compared to 50ish. The hull is a bit wider, and a foot longer, but that's ok for me, I'm 6'0 and about 225.

Just as an example, I picked mine up in fantastic condition for about $250+- (wont know for sure until I sell the trailer it came on). SBT engine will about $900 shipped, a few other misc. things and I'll be in it pretty reasonable. Like $1300. Even if I have to pop in a new mpem, I'll still have a decent return on my money if I sell it. In my neck of the woods, these machines sell for $24-2800 without a trailer, and some are pretty beat.

I know the guys on this board on the East coast can get these in running condition all day long for way cheap, but I don't have that luxury. Probably a good thing too, or I would probably fill my garage with even more of them...

Just my .02.

Looking forward to getting it back together soon.

I have to go the other way here in north FL. I get these great deals on Bama skis but they want to scratch you a little something down on a torn piece of paper and tell you that's all you need. I need a Bill of Sale and the last registration and a understanding girl at the tag office to get it done.

I dunno. I came across a '99 GTX LTD a couple of weeks ago, 100% complete. Title, etc... Just sounded like it needed the engine done, for $500. The kid probably would have taken $350-400... Looked primo, stored indoors, etc.

Seems like the time and $$ it would take to grab an engine,(with no core return), a pump, and hoping the electronics are good, you could almost pick up something else that doesn't need quite as much for a few bucks more, and be ahead of the game.

Patience pays off though. In my area, if I wait 3 more months from now, 'Doos wont bring nearly as much, and I'm hoping to land a few more late 90's/early 2000's G models to flip in the summer.

Of course, I'm in an area where it snows a few months out of the year. Florida?? LOL, if it gets below 60 you guys are probably freezing!!!

This popped up 10 miles from me. I don't need it but do any of you need a "shell"?

dam, in 24 hours i just might ! seriously.

the engines aren't troubled, just a tad more finicky regarding maintenance and longevity.

the 951 is better than the 787, which is better than the 717, but overall the 717 is probably the "workhorse" of the bunch. the bad news is that the 717 will put you to sleep at the wheel. a couple of your 951 listings looked pretty fair priced .....

to each ski its own, the gsx/gtx is an enigma, its a boring but adequate ski with the 787, if your not into speed then it will be just dandy.

if your into speed, with the big hull you need the 951 to push it, and really feel the wind in your face. that last 7mph is really noticable

^ Keep the info and opinions/stories coming.

yes !

&more post's that say

"if this wasn't 4 hours from my house i'd buy it even if i had to borrow the money"
or
are you high ? you want how much for that ????
