Hi Tony, Real nice boat, congratulations. It looks like your little girl is ready to go to the lake, she's not the baby, is she?

I didn't get the speedster, I'm still working on it, I talked to the guy this morning, we have a problem. There's a lien on the boat, of course I can't transfer it until the lien is cleared. The owner said he would go to the bank and payoff the lien today. So we're still in limbo.

BTW, I can't find the spec. on a 96 Speedster, do you happen to know how much it weighs? I'm afraid I'll go over the 2000# limit on my Jeep. I might be better off with a single engine boat.

Lou, I found the specs. It says dry weight is 1247. you can pull that with your hinda civic. I'll try sending you the doc via email

Thanks Jake, so with the trailer and fuel, 1500-1600#, should be O.K. I could probably pull it with a Moped.

I just got a call from John, looks like the boat is back on. He said the starboard motor has compression of 30 mag. and 140 pto. So I'm thinking top end rebuild minimum, the port motor is a recent rebuild SBT, with 4 hours on the rebuild. The only cosmetic problem is the seat backs on the rear seats needs replacing. I really wish this was a single engine instead of two, but if I don't find anything else I'll buy it.

I was thinking, maybe I'll just leave the boat like it is, make a NASCAR boat out of it, "it's all about turning left".

What a day..... I'm beat. After I got home, I needed to go to the shop for a little while, and then when I got home from that... I had to mow. It's 81 degrees, and humid... but they are threatening rain for the next few days.

OK......

OCOD: Yes... it would be ready to go... but the motor is dead. That's why I went to Michigan to get it. It's hard to find an Islandia project for a decent price, and that isn't totally rotten.

Lou: Glad to hear it. DO a top end on that speedster, and enjoy. The little girl in the pic is my older kid. The baby is now just over a year old. As I said in the post... I got home, and took a shower. Well... My older kid went and put on her bathing suit, and wanted to go. Then... she told me to put water in the Kiddie pool. So, I did. (lol)

Jake: Yes... that's a wet bar. It also has a changing room, and a port-a-potty in it.

Couple of my neighbors thought the boat was awesome. Not the ones that you talked to, but other guys.
How long was the trip home, heard about traffic accident on I-275 did you run into it?

You better be working 24/7 to get it water ready otherwise your 5 yr will be bugging you everyday. :)

Grizz: My Turbo Del Sol pulled it just fine. But... I need to service the trailer brakes. It was pushing the Honda bad!! Also... one hub needs serviced. The bearings are good... but the seal is gone.

SDB: Hey... thanks for the hospitality. It was nice to be able to put a face with the names on this board. Yes... I did hit the traffic, but I think I got to it before it got bad. I was past it in a just a few minutes. I stopped for fuel, and the stretch... and I go home right at noon. So.... about 5.5 Hrs.

Here's the girls splashing in the pool. Hopefully I will have time before the end of next week to get the engine out.

Tony, I've got the rest of the Australian PWC pit crew coming to take a ride in the new boat. I don't think I can get them all in my boat. Could you be a friend and take a few of them on yours?

Lou

Hey Doc, you finally got the boat you were looking for!! Very Nice!! Do you have alot of engine work to do? Splash pool ... wet bar!!! That's a friggin' sweet party barge!!!

Are you going to become the forums new Merc go to guy!

I guess we all see what we want to see, if you look close you can see a pair of legs and ankles. Bet Jake didn't take this picture at Walmart.

Lou

Lou: sure... send those girls over anytime. (I like boobies)

bmann06: It took a while... but I found a project Islandia for the right price. And yes... It looks like I will become the site Merc expert now. I'll still warn people about them... but at least I can help if they already have one. I basically got the boat because the last owner was told it would cost $5500 to have a new engine installed. I figured it will cost me about $1k to rebuild it myself. (obviously, I'm not paying for labor)

Grizz: Here's my tow vehicle. It only weighs 1900 Lbs... but with the turbo, it's putting out 308 hp... so that's enough to pull the boat.

I just got back from Keavy, KY. I didn't buy the boat, it's a good deal but not a steal. The hull was in great condition, not a mark or scratch anywhere. However the whole interior needs replacing and probably need to replace one motor. The motor had compression of 30 and 80 psi, surprisingly the motor would start and run, but considering it was the original engine and the other (new) engine was replaced last year I figured the motor would need to be replaced.

So the boat was $ 1,800 plus $1500 to 1600, plus with all the work probably wouldn't be lake ready this summer. I would have been a great winter project. Here's the link in case anyone else in interested.
