Letter from a farm kid, now a Marine Corps recruit Jake,Lou,Criss, Sis do you know this family??
Dear Ma and Pa,
I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled.
I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m. but I am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing.
Men got to shave but it is not so bad, there's warm water. Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc. but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie and other regular food, but tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you til noon when you get fed again.
It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much. We go on "route marches", which the platoon sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks.
The country is nice but awful flat The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The Captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just ride around and frown. They don't bother you none.
This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes.
Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain't like fighting with that ole bull at home. I'm about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from over in Silver Lake. I only beat him once. He joined up the same time as me, but I'm only 5'6" and 130 pounds and he's 6'8" and near 300 pounds dry.
Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join before other fellers get onto this setup and come stampeding in.

To all my long lost cousins and some really good friends.HOW THE EFF ARE YOU!!!!!!!!Crisso here.Its taken some time and crap,but I think I am on the home straight..Heading for the winning post..Here is an update.I have split the bedsheets.Oh.Bye the way.If you dont know me because of my absense,bad luck.I have had to deal with a bit over the last few months and it has been a tad hard.So be it.hahaha.Anyway.Work nailed me for a month or two because of people leaving etc.Wife did the same.Son then tells me he is getting married in 2 weeks.Like I can afford that.So.Financially,an enema was happening.Brain as well.Now!!All is good for a while.To Jake.Lou.Seadoobuddy,And all other guys here.Thanks!!!! More shit stirring to follow.haha

Criss, so good to hear from ya mate! Ma has just worried herself sick bout ya'll. She will be happier then a coon dog with two peckers when I tell her we dun herd from ya'll. Been a bit slow around here the last couple months. SDB knocked hisself unconscious a couple a days ago on a pipe in his garage. Lou don't talk much latley, he's really busy keepinm his new seat cover occupied. Griz dun blew up his engine, cause he put the wrong size tootsie rools in his spark plug holes or somethin like that. That feller Wallstreet says he is gonna put his boat in the water next week but we'll have to wait and see what happens cause Ocod won the boat as the prize fer being the 2000 post. That pretty much catches ya'll up. Oh yea, I gotta go see the bum doctor next week and drink a whole gallon of Castrol super clean to clean out my innards real good so he can git a good look. He';s gonna check my compression and I'll post pics.
Criss, glad to see that you are up and running again. Keep in touch. It looks like you missed most of your Summer rides.

It's great to see that your back, unlike some of the lazy SOB's on this site I have to work, so I just haven't had the time to say hi. Not too much different here SOS. Griz and SDB have been getting into it lately. Got to get back to it, seems to be a typical Monday. Back atcha later.

Did you disconnect the dog first? No wonder you're going blind playing with your noodle. When I was a kid my mother caught be playing with my noodle, she said you'll go blind playing with your noodle. I said can I play with it just until I need glasses?
