OK sorry for getting off the winch/wench topic.
But I found this on the website of a local yard mower company.
Wiengartz has a few stores and are widely known around here.
Something to think about. What about our skis...should we up the octane too?

Q.
What kind of fuel do you recommend that I put into my gas-powered leaf blower?
A.
For years, we recommended standard unleaded gas for all of our equipment, but recent changes in the gasoline that we get at the pump have changed that recommendation. Now we recommend using 89 octane or greater in all small engines, especially two-cycle engines. Rising levels of ethanol in fuel can cause problems for carbureted engines (while most automobile engines are fuel-injected, almost all power equipment engines are carbureted). One way to combat these issues is by using a higher octane fuel. Also, make certain to use properly rated two-cycle oil per your operator's manual in all two-cycle equipment.

actually Tony told me the best thing to run in small 2 cycle engines (eg, chainsaw, leafblower) is coleman lantern fuel.

just came in from pouring fresh oil in the bottom of my hull, I do it every year to prevent mildew growth. whats all this about SDB hittin his head on a pipe? IS he ok, need to go to the hospital or anything? Geeze, I put wallstreet in charge of watching him so he didn't hurt himself and apparently SDB is more than one person can handle.

Jake,

Do you use TCW-3 or API-TC also mineral, synthetic blend or full synthetic for your "hull oil"?

Lou

Lou,
I use that there stuff that the wife uses to fry the chicken with. I don't know what it's called but she saves it fer me when she is dun fryin up the chicken. I luv that smell of the fried chicken. I'm thinkin bout puttin some in the truck too.

I think I gotta get a new hobby, been doing home repairs today, I just told my wife "I'm going to Lowes to get a wear ring", I should have said wax ring.

ahh replacing the wax ring on the crapper, what a fun job. Nothing worse than getting cavitation when ya flush the crapper. Be sure and use your feeler gauge to check the clearance around your ring to assure a good strong flush. And I always find it easier to install the new wax ring if I put the toliet in the freezer overnight.

I'll check the clearance, I think I also need to check the compression, that's what blew the last one out. I can't figure out where to stick the compression gauge, as soon as I get a reading I'll report my findings.

Griz, can you see this?

could be a problem with the water regulator on the water inlet. pull the red wire off and see of it flushes better.

Well I just did a tank test on the crapper, the seal seems to be holding but the rev. limiter is kicking in at about 6000rpm. I think the new wax ring is working as there is no cavitation, but I'm only getting a top speed of about 45mph. The only problem is when I left the bath room it really stinks.

i'm gettin my upper flapper valve checked out on tuesday and then my lower flapper valve checked out the following tuesday. I'll post pics. guess I'll find out next monday if i got any serious cavitation on my wax ring, i'll be running that thing at wot. i got to drink a whole friggin gallon of that castrol super clean.

Didn't that flapper valve use to be called a ball-cock? Wonder why SDB hasn't "chimed in", I haven't heard from him in a couple of days.

Lou
