I dun scooped the SDB network on this story. Now this here is newsworthy !!

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), a former Army lieutenant colonel, commenting on the Marines' video

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Harry, ya'll got room on yer trailer/house/boat ta take a load a Pa's shine down to the Tater in Florida?

Guys,

I'm gonna be gone as a regular on this thread for the next week of so. We're going to Ft. Lauderdale and on a Western Caribbean cruise. I'll be checking in from time to time. The ship has wireless access at a "nominal fee". If the nominal fee isn't too expensive I'll be checking in. I just didn't want y'all to think I had gone AWOL.

hey... good for you.. we did that type of cruise this past november... norweigan star... their int fee wasnt worth it.. .40 a min... but you can buy a minute pack.... plus a 3.95 one time connect / set up fee... if you havent been on one before... no cash on board... just a card, you pay up at the end.... we had an all inclusive state room... 12$ a day is added to your bill for maid, etc., had all meals, etc. included.. drinks were 5-9bucks each.. well.. dont know what line you're taking, just a bit of info in case u never went on one before... the excursions.... if you are smart, DONT pay for the ones the cruise 'sets up' for you.. you can get the EXACT same ones and even better, right at each port of call.... you will see there are others who do the same from your ship and others... just make sure the excursion person(s) know what time you HAVE to be back to the ship! doing his can save you LOADS of cash... for ex...

one of the excursions we did.... some good mayan ruins tour, if we went with the crew chosen one, it was 82 a person... no way, as soon as we were able to disembark at the port, there are hordes of all the exact same excursions... for the same thing and even a bit more, like a meal (DONT drink any local water unless bottled and dont eat anything on islands thats rinsed in local water!! ) back to that example, must have erased it by accident before posting it... the point was, instead of spending 82 a person, getting it OFF the ship, cost us 20 a person and you can barter with them if you have a bunch of people all doing the same thing; either friends you are with or those you may have made anew. use common sense, dont go OFF THE BEATEN PATH! there are many who can tell of really bad stories of being ripped off in many ways... be smart, if those places i cited are some of your ports of call, remember this...

they WANT american DOLLARS!! dont buy the insanely priced (and i mean INSANE as in 10, 20 ,30 40g's and more) jewelry on board... there are cheaper ones... low thousands... hundred dollar stuff is like useless. buying jewelry off ship can get u scammed as well. mexico and those ports of call i mentioned are KNOWN for very very BAD silver... most of it is NOT .925 or whatefver it is supposed to be... they use base metals that will attract a MAGNET (HINT). booze is a safe buy, trinkets and clothes...

within all the ports you will find they take credit/debit cards, make sure they dont charge extra since you are out of country.. best bet... take along CASH! have fun and post pics!!'

if you want to see some of the pics from our cruise, friend me on facebook here:

just looking out for ya.... we went with people who had cruise experinece... it helped a great deal knowing ones way around can be very helpful in many ways.

if you are on one of the norweigan lines... or any other decent line, check daily itineraries, they usuall have great shows and fun stuff for adults like game shows, live music/stage acts... it was really an experience... the most fun for me, being a lifelong lover of cruiseships and never having been on one till last november... always amazed at how enormous they are, walking around it and going to all the shows, halls, restauarants, clubs (oh my god so many BARS!!), doing pub crawls..

the sheer enormous size is incredible... the grand atrium.. more than 8 stories to glass skylights, many 13 story glass elevators... it was really really fun to be inside this floating city... and that is really what it is. any questions, feel free to ask.

but if you do the face book thing... you get to see.... ME... putting a face to the name may help....lol and any of my new found seadoo friends, feel free to do so as well

some more info... IF YOU WANT TO SAVE A FEW $$ and you drink like wine or whatever really... PACK IT IN YOUR LUGGAGE!!!!! pack it deep in the center of a big bag! they dont check it with xrays like an airport, its more for keeping it safe! if you do like to chug a few or intend on it, trust me... it is WAY cheaper to do that and keep it IN your ROOM than to buy it onboard... they want like 40bucks for a shit bottle of wine... and booze... 60 and up... another smart tip... dont know what type room u r getting... you know those little fridges that they have, even here in like hotels and shit... the ones with little bottles of booze and stuff... IT AINT FREE and it is INCREDIBLY $$$ they check that daily... the stewards/maids, whatever, come all times of day and nite, whenever people are out, they check all that stuff... remember about the surcharges... that blew us away.... just be smart... ask if you dont know.. dont ASSUME, thats dangerous! if your plan is inclusive, like in meals... STICK WIITH IT!! the food was incredible and non stop, while some of the pay extra, like 10$ and above per person, for signature type restaurants like french or italian, though they are fine, really was nothing extra maybe except to be able to dress up and get a bit spiffier with the wife, which was nice to do for some of the 'nice' broadway type shows... think 'poseidon adventure' without the horror.. just the glamour....

hope i am helping, dont know if you have ever even been on one... i just figured you hadnt been on one before... oh.. if you havent, and if you dont mind me saying so.... to be honest, we went with family, people with $$, we dont have it... thats there's, we're 'simple' type, himble easy, non showy type.... point is, even though some of them had $$$$$$$$, they wouldnt go near the casino... just awaste of money.. imo and there's as well... looks great... really exciting.. and thats the catch... here is what it ALL was in a nutshell...

for all 5 of us, for an entire stateroom and an attached suite, all inclusive..means food, entertainment, etc., cost was around 3700.00

NOW, thats all done, no pay back on that (mother in laws present to all of us), BUT, we each paid for our own 'stuff', extras that were not part of package like drinks-alcoholic, purchases on board, TIPS and all the little incidentals like 12 bucks per day surcharge per PERSON, etc.

when u r on board, well before actually, you get a type of 'card', which identifies YOU.. you use it for all those little extras like buying whatever on board, extra food or restaurants or spas or anytihng that ISNT included with your package gets put on that little card as NO cruise ship uses case (except in casino..and that u can put on card too!!). to sum up what that little 'square up' came to at the end of our cruise, we wound up forking over to mom in law, very gratefully, since she gave us a 'card' that was attached to the (her) main acct (its not as confusing as it sounds), we gave her almost 800 for all those little extras.

a big part of that 800 was the 12 per day per person... 2 of us per day is 25, x 7.. do the math. add to that tipping the concierge and private butler at end of trip, maid (you gotta tip these people... they are so nice, excellent in what they do, they make you feel like a star, and that is the majority of their pay and they work 10-12 hr shifts per day and live in rooms with up to 6 other crew members... ).

add to that any stuff you bought on board, drinks at bar, an extra not included 'special' restaurant or 2, and 800 comes quick. but we figured on that and took just about 2gs in cash (not knowing they didnt use it onboard.... so we had it at the end anyway as well as for the excursions that we didnt charge onboard)

MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE... make sure you have CURRENT ACCURATE PAPERS!!! passport!!!!!! make copies of each person passport and drivers license to keep on you at all times in event of loss of real ones which you may want to leave in IN ROOM safes. if your paperwork isnt accurate before you even get on board... you aint getting on board! seen it happen!! especially for WOMAN... who have or may, due to marriage/divorce, a different name on their passport than what is currently accurate... i.e. she wasnt married before, has a valid passport, but now her legal-,married name is NOT what is on her passport!! you have to bring marriage license then and all that shit or they will NOT let you one.. same for divorce, etc.... it has to be current, match... they dont give a hoot. just a big heads up! saw a couple get turned away after they couldnt get divorce papers faxed to cruise line and whole lot of hell and crying and beggin was goin on.

its international maritime laws... not gonna get around them. they dont F around. make sure you have all that in order, if you are not sure, do yourselves a favor and CHECK everything....nothing wrong with being smart before u get there! that couple that got turned away because passport didnt match her now-married name, had no one who could fax anything, and there was nothing cruise line could do... the crying was sad... but they didnt lose their cost, just have to reschedule and get things right. crusie lines will bend over backwards to make you feel great... they do, and they did. but horror stories like this, though not often, can, as in this case, happen.

how much to valet park that honda ???? have good time lou, ill take care of sis

you talkn to me?? if so, comedian, we didnt have to pay to valet our honda. we left from tampa which is only 40 min from lakeland. so our neighbor friends were kind enough to drop us off as well as take care of our pets... but, my wifes mom did valet her car there, not sure how much, but you can find out from the cruise line/ port authority site for your cruise. and by the way smart one... it doesnt matter what car is valet'd ... same price be it a rolls or a honda civic

Me and Lou and Criss used to go on cruises all the time. we built a raft when we was kids and we cruised it all the way down to Lousianna one time. Boy was Pa mad when he had ta drive the truck all the way down their to git us. Criss said he was going to cruise the raft back home, he got blown out ta sea, that's how he ended up in Oz land.

Hey Griz, good to see ya. Do you know that Tater feller, he lives down yer way?
