Its all good im not taking any thing negatively, You guys are right it does need a jet trim. I ended up getting the black tip on black friday for $35 i think before i really new i wanted a jet trim. Im going to to use this seat while i tune it. then i will change it out. I told him about the blue on the engine so i guess i will see what he comes up with. thanks for all the help guys!

that's why I went with my blacktip. I had already blown the budget on my "resto" and was looking for decent and cheap. I've had mine on for a couple years now and it still looks like the day I put it on.

yea i know the feeling of a blown budget lol...i think that started the 1st week i talked to matt lol

Lol no I have it but I had to rob the flap off of it. I can send it out to you if you want it still

None of the after market cover have the flap on them jettrim don't neither does hydro turf they are made to go over the factory cover.

Yes I cut the flap off of the old one and then sewed it on to the black tip

Yep. Not needed on the aftermarket covers. That's why they make them multiple panels so you don't have the flap. It's all stretching and stapling. The panels are to shape the cover to the foam. Had I know you were going to do that I would have made you one from some material I have here.

Sorry at the time it wasn't wanting to hold right even with heat and the flap just pulled it right in.

no problem, I was just trying to save an OEM cover from the land fill. I don't like to see that stuff go to waste.

Can any one tell me what this does?

It's an ignition box. There are two ways to install it.

(96 Style)- It can plug in where your cdi was in the grey box. This way you can adjust your initial timing, your timing curve and your rev limit. Your ski will still "beep beep" and start and stop normally.

(97 Style)- You can remove the MPEM, cut the wire plugs off the Enhanser and use it as a "stand alone" ignition. With this configuration you loose the "beep beep" and any DESS key will now work on it. Your start/stop would now just be a start and you would have to pull the lanyard each time to kill the engine.

There are a couple other features in it. It has a red led light that has it's own switch for testing the signal from the trigger(pickup) in case your diagnosing a no spark issue. It also has a overheat/holeshot feature. It's either or. Basically you can pick the rpm the engine will be limited to when you put one of the Enhanser's wires to ground. So it you connect it to the temp switch on the head then you can make the rpm max at like 3500 if it is hot. Or go to a handlebar switch like the racers do for the "holeshot". That's the start of the race when two holders are keeping the back of your boat in the air. You don't want it dropped in at WOT so 3500 rpm is about right. Then when the pump loads you let your finger off the button. I figure it could be used like a learner key also if you were gonna put some kids on it.

Thanks matt for all the info, I dont think i need that on this boat but maybe me next one.

I did get the trim tabs and rd nozzle all hooked up over the weekend along with the pipe bracket installed. I want to ride it a bit to see how my bracket will hold up but i did copy every thing to make more....

Ill post some pics up at lunch when i go home from work.

Well I got lots of little things done today.

- pump rebuild
-engine alignment done
-bilage pump hooked up
-installed egt sensors, just need to hook the power up tomorrow to it.
-mats installed

Everything is starting to come together. I plan to recover the seat tomorrow and get power to the egt. As long as get the bracket made for the factory pipe.

well, I know things have slowed down on this build but still have some stuff to finish up. I started the ski for the 1st time yesterday. I was really happy that it fired right up with no problems. I'm going to install a GPS Speedo. It might not be the best way but o well ill see how it goes. Another thing that just happend is Mike from pwc graphics made me some nice graphics. Ill i did was send him pics of my jet ski/engine and told him i wanted to tie it all together and told him i like the 95 graphics and this is what he gave me. I will not be doing the race plate though. 97 spx new build.jpg that is blue not purple.
