RESTO 1997 SPX "Titanic" Build

I thought the 97's by far had the worst graphics, and one of my fav X4 builds was from the guy in Iowa, cant remember his S/N now, but he did a real nice build and took them off. I love the yellow bottom with a white top and a custom seat and UMI. Prob my fav looking custom ski. Just my .02 cents :)

I have to agree the 97 is the worst of the x4 graphics. I've been fighting the same thought of ripping them off for the last month or so. They are just so mint it's tough to do. The decals are perfect except for one small area on the front and 2 tiny nicks on one side.

My issue is even if I decide later to tear them off, I can't decide on a replacement. I do like the 99 decals with a few changes though, so would possibly go that direction.
 
MPEM questions:

I've got the 97 SPX box with micro touch, 95 xp800 with micro touch, and numerous good 96 XP complete boxes.

I would like to run the 96 box but does the 95 micro touch work with both 95 and 96? The reason is I want to runthe multi function gauge and this is the easiest as it already is wired in the 96. Not sure if it was on the 95.

If the 95 MT won't work with the 96 box which is the best/easiest box to rewire to have trim, multi, gauge, and speedo? I'm using a candoo for speedo if they can make one. Apparently I'm the person to ask for a candoo on a 96 xp, so they are going to make one that works.

Yah, both of mine have ecwi. Just wonder if it's easier to add the 2 extra wires into the 97 box since everything else is in place. I'll have to dig in a little more tonight.
 
Oh yeah I also like the oem decals. If you don't like pink or purple you should ride a kawasuki or yamalog

Cmon man you have a modded 95 XP 800...these decals are like putting up wallpaper in your house. It's 2016 time to modernize

Don't worry Ankeneyou I'll still be your friend if you decide to do it. ;)

I have the decals for it. It needs a bit more buffing in a couple areas then they go on.
 
Haha it's definitely staying stock for now. If I would ever switch would be later in the summer. I've got too many other skis to work on once this one gets finished so need to save time where I can.

I'm hoping to get the 00 XPL done before Norman as well. Need to clean, buff, install rebuilt engine, etc, etc so may not make it.

Yeah yeah quit poking the bear, lol. This Friday is the 3rd date he has given me recently. Really getting frustrated at this point. I wouldn't be too upset but at the end of Jan he was finishing up the cylinders and then to paint.

Still can't believe you sent your 951 in a month after me and have had it back a month or so...

Ouch. The mixed reviews make since.
 
yea, just crazy. On the 951 i sent in he told me no more than 5 weeks and I had it back at 4.5 weeks and he even had to weld the case.

Sounds like he picks and chooses who get's their engines done first depending if they may or may not write a good or bad review, or if they are a part of a forum where they might talk about this stuff.....

Yah I'm not gonna bash him I'm happy with the work on the 787. Just don't don't like having to call each week to get a new date. If there is an issue just tell me a realistic date and then either meet the date or call if something will further delay it and I'd be happy. I just didn't expect it to take this long. Now into month 5...
