This is why i don't normally post anything. I was not offering expert advice, just my own experience. I would rather have a big truck but i don't. Besides i travel only a couple miles every time i use it not down the mountain.

Don't get upset, and have an attitude. This forum is about being friendly. We all try to help out around here, and we all try to keep each other safe.

Your accord (regardless of 4 or 6 cyl's) only has a tow capacity of 1000 Lbs. That boat, on the trailer, and fuel will exceed your capacity by 100%. It's not legal, or safe. Obviously, you can do what you want... but if you get into an emergency situation... it's going to be ugly. Also, if you have an accident... regardless who is "Actually" at fault... it will be your fault since you are operating past limits. And finally... the wear that extra weight puts on the engine, trans, brakes, and chassis isn't worth it.

As I said... you can do what you want... but in the law... ignorance is not a defense.

****EDIT******

As a finale FYI...

Boat: 1457 Lbs Dry
Fuel/oil/coolant: 170 Lbs
Trailer: 350 Lbs (probably more, but that's what my 96 sportster trailer weighed)
Extra gear: 100 Lbs? (anchor, vests, wake board, cooler, ropes, fenders, ect)

That gives you a total of 2077 Lbs. So... not only are you over the capacity of the car by over 100%... but you are also over the capacity of the hitch. (and it may be more since the trailer may be heavier)

My biggest concern would be with the hitch bolts ripping out of the sheet metal of the car since you don't have ANYTHING that resembles a frame.

I can't understand buying a boat without a tow vehicle, the 2 go hand in hand.

When I bought my first waverunner, I was in the same situation. I knew I wanted to get into boating, but I purchased what I knew I could tow as I was not in the position to trade cars.

One GP1200 Yamaha and a Grand Am. Then went to two, GP1200 and GP1200r, bumped up to a Grand Prix. Then shuttlecraft and GP1200r, bumped up to a Chevy Colorado. Then I wanted a new Yamaha AR210 boat. That Colorado would have been at it's full towing capacity. I had to stop and re-think the whole process.

That's why I purchased the X20. It was safe to tow with the truck I had. Now that I have the Sierra, now I want that AR210 or 212x! Those are some big boats though. I have always sized my tow vehicle and boat as close as possible. It's being responsible on the road and with my family. Although now, we have realized the X20 is the perfect boat for us, so the upgrade madness can stop. I don't want to drop as much on the boat as my new truck either!!

I tow my 2004 sportster with my 07 ford focus. It does great pulling and still get 28mpg with it. Been pulling trailers for year with no problem. But I wouldn't recommend pulling it on ice with my car.

This is EXACTLY what im talking about. The focus is rated to tow 1000 bs MAX. You are towing twice that. Good Luck if you ever hit someone.

I tow my 2005 speedster (1594 lbs) with my 2009 4 cyl Honda Accord. The Honda is rated for 2000 lbs. While a truck would be nice i too had to get rid of the gas hog. 2 yrs and all is good.

You are crazy by using a Honda with a 1,000 lbs tow capacity to tow your 2,000 boat.

2011 F150 Harler Davidson AWD 6.2L V8 411HP with a 7,300 tow capacity.

My manual says 1250lbs limit. The boat and everything weighs 2000lbs max. So its only a couple hundred over the "safe towing limit" Im pretty sure that limit was decided for unsafe drivers in bad driving conditions.

According to my first grade math class 2000-1250=750 lbs that you are over towing....that's 62% OVER capacity.
If Foster is correct then it's 100% over capacity.

Even if the car can tow it, the brakes, trans and motor will wear out much faster......sometimes the brakes will NOT give a warning.

I hope you have a very high $ nest egg put away to cover the medical bills when you rear end someone, because your car insurance won't pay once they find out you were towing over capacity.

God bless stubborn people, or for lack of better terms "$mart @$$ people". I hope you never get in an accident. Can anybody say lawsuit, LOL.

Guys I found a couple of pretty nice 4Runners:

1. a 1998 Black on Black super nice, 5 speed manual, but only 2wd (I like the 5 speed because they are easier to fix)
plus you cant beat the price, super cheap, $3000.00..
REMEMBER: ITS EASIER TO FIX THE CLUTCH, only $800 to fix clutch

2. a 1997 I dont like the color its red, BUT, it sounds super nice, 4WD AWD, towing package, for only $3900.00
FIXING A AUTOMATIC WITH 4WD, is super expensive... $2500

3. a 1999 tan, very very nice, but its $5900 (over my budget), 4WD AWD, towing package...

Well I posted this in another thread, but I guess we could bring this thread back since it was very heated, lol,

I finally got my tow rig! Its a 1993(94 (they guy who sold it to me swears its a 94), 4x4, Automatic with supposedly 171,000 miles, but the interior is absolutely cherry, all the windows are original (from what I can tell), all the buttons work great, I engaged the 4x4 and it seems to work right, the back windows goes up and down, and it has a super huge sunroof which works and its awesome.

The bad news is that the motor is leaking a little, feels rough, so I probably going to need a overhaul there, but I have a great mechanic who owes me a lot of favors.... I fix his computers... lol...

I rented the Uhaul truck about 5 times before I got this truck, the Ford F150 is super great on gas, but Im glad I dont have to rent trucks anymore (well lets see lol).

I got the 4runner for $1600!

here are the pictures:

Nice 4Runner!

Thanks... but its too funny... I sold my 1995 Sportster (sick of fixing it) for a new boat, which works great truly love (the last 6 times I took it out).. Sold my X5 to buy a Vert... but then needed a truck.. So I bought this one, but right now its at the shop...

Apparently if its too good to be true, IT IS, I paid $1600 for the 4runner (extremely clean in and out), however, I took the chance knowing something could be wrong with the engine... And Cylinder 2 is showing low compression, so after tuning it up it seems I need a valve job on my truck, or a new engine at http://www.houseofengines.net...

So... the 4runner runs "ok", took it to the desert, went 4x4ing with my friends.. but like I said.. if it wasnt for the sportster getting fixed all the time... now its the 4runner! hahah...

Maybe I should just get a new truck.. :( - but business is slow right now... so Im going to have to hold off
