Well I sold my SUV because it was a great opportunity to jump out of it and get something new with warranty, my SUV ran out of warranty last year, and I was concerned.

Well, I jumped into a car not a SUV because I was making payments on an SUV that I only used very little and it was really bad in gas, also I needed new tires, front axles, so i figured I better jump out right now, buy the car I always wanted and purchase a used truck to tow my boat, even a used Toyota 4Runner or Truck or Ford F150..

My Speedster with trailer is less than 2,000 pounds I think, so even car can pull it.. what do you guys suggest? I dont want to spend too much, because remember I use it only on the weekends or whenever I go with my boat.

My insurance agent laughed because he said I would be towing my "new" boat with a "used" truck, but i think it makes the most financial sense....

Can't go wrong with a truck. I use to hate trucks until I bought my first house. If you are on a budget I would recommend a Nissan Frontier, a Toyota Tacoma, Chevy S-10 or Ford Ranger.

Thanks, also I definitely want a 4x4, I see horror stories everytime I go to the lake, some poor guy without 4x4 gets stuck in the water...

Oh no, not again.
Didnt you get truck to pull smokey.

Kids are going to be mad at daddy.

Noooooooo

x2 Nissan are bullet proof.
I use xterra to pull 1800 sportster.

If ramps are steep/slippery/low tide I cringe since its not 4x4.

Nissan Pathfinder 4x4? sometimes I want to travel 600 miles back and forth... something low cost,

What about a Toyota 4 Runner 1991 with AWD, super clean but its manual? or am I being too cheap

haha...I should've video taped my Odyssey pullin' out of this HAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRY boat launch a few weeks ago LOL. FWD, and all the weight on the rear tires = spinning front tires like crazy.

I can do 3500lbs, and so the trailer + SK of 1500lbs is well under the max.

So long as it's a proper boat launch, you don't need 4x4.

If you want to be cool., a nice dodge magnum station wagon. That baby look spretty. Only problem is it's low. My van is low and I had to get a 6" riser on my hitch...and even then it's a little low.

How long is your Sea Doo??? It looks longer than mine. At first I thought it was a 200 Speedster, LOL.

I use a Toyota minivan, but in a pinch I'll use my '96 chev lumina sedan lol. It's not far to the boat launch but there's a BIG hill.

The lumina isn't rated to pull the boat of course, but, it's better then missing out on a day on the water if my wife has the van. I just go slow.

i have my pet peeves about people using inadequate vehicles to tow. Not only is it moronic, its illegal. Make sure the vehicle is capable of legally towing the amount you need. Your boat with the trailer and all fluids and gear is probably just over 2000 lbs. closer to 2200. I would just hit up craigslist for used trucks. Ive seen suv and trucks for under $2000 that are more than capable. I also will personally only use a 4wd. Ive seen too many stories of people with 2wd or front wheel drives with the cars ending up in the lake. Search youtube, tons of videos.

LOL,

Your right, the last time I was at Puddinstone Lake, poor guy with a Toyota Tacoma 2WD, was not able to pull away from the launch, it was very unsafe, his back tires just kept spinning, and almost spinned him more "into" the lake.

I have seen some nice Toyota 4Runners super clean, for like $2000, to $2500, let me show you an example, I have seen them very low, like $1600..

look:

super clean in and out for only $2500:

wow, now here is an unbelievable deal: 2001 toyota 4 runner $2500!???? but I dont think its 4x4...

here is another nice one for $1600

now this one sounds too good to be true, new rebuilt motor, new everything for only $1600 nissan pathfinder?

Thats the kind of stuff im talking about. Personally i like the 1990 4 runner, but would try to get it down to 2 grand. There are plenty of deals out there.

Wow guys, you are not going to believe me, but Uhual rents out a brand new F150, 4x4, with tow hitch, for $19.99 A DAY!? wow...
Plus $.59 cents a mile, right now Im trying to find a coupon for 0 cents a mile... thats just unbelievable... I could do that till I save up to buy a truck! Im freaking estatic!

yeah thats the normal price...havent you ever seen their commercials? i guess in a pinch that works.

My brother in law is selling his Ford F150 for $1,000, he was going to let me borrow it, but you know I hate borrowing things, and I was going to give him $20 to $30 bucks for the favor, but I rather go for the rental and do that all day long, plus they are made to get beatup for moving, Im shocked I never really thought of that.. really is a great deal.... wow...

Years ago my buddies and I had the ultimate convertibles, JEEP CJ7's with V8's. Someday I will get another one and make it a rock crawler. I do own a VW convertible now but it's not the same and in all honesty I hate the sun beating down on me. Their fine at night or with a bikini top as with the jeep.

^HOLY SMOKES!!! THAT'S IMPRESSIVE.lol. Is that Chevy even rated to tow the sportser?? Mind you the sportser is pretty light. When you say illegal...how?

Nope, way over the rating. As far as the rest, RFoster will chime in with that eventually I'm sure lol. Either way, 20+ launches last year, 25 already this year. Being 2 miles from the launch makes hitting the water hard to pass up when its nice out!
