The X4 Thread

Can't figure out how to start a new thread, so...

My 96 XP has been in storage all winter. I purchased a new battery for it and installed it. The battery voltage is at 12.86 volts, however, when I try to start it, I don't even as much as get a click like it is trying to start. When the key is put on, the 4 LED's illuminate, then go out, except the low fuel indicator which has been on since I bought the thing.

At any rate, any help that anyone can offer as far as getting this thing running would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Kenny

it's most likely your solenoid.

plugs

hello x4s just got another 96 xp it has br9es plugs anyone know why that would be and not useing 8es?
thanks

Probably all he had. The 9 is cooler, and would foul quicker.

After a couple rides on my 800... the plugs are black. I'm about ready to install 7's.

Hey Guys,

After getting a sore ankle this weekend (could have been a lot worse), I have decided to install Hydro Turf or Blacktip Traction mats. I'm leaning toward the Blactip because they already have the adhesive, peel and stick, and also because Watercraft Superstore is offering a free pair of Bomber sunglasses. With the 15% off the price is about the same.

My question is which one do y'all prefer.

Im still getting used to the no mirror hood too. haha.

Ever thrown your $300 pair of sunglasses in the bottom of lake ontario?

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.. HAS ANYONE DONE A BACKFLIP ON THEIR X4 MACHINE?

Example. Go off a wave and pull a 360 backwards (a$$ over tea kettle, lol)

i wear some really good strap sandels that have grips on the bottom almost like a work boot, so don't slip on the stock mats. i can't swim worth a damn in them tho.

and right now i could do a lot more good for my ski with the 100 bucks for mats. like a new wear ring for example, or new oem carb kits. i'm pretty sure the PO used some cheap ones. it bogs a little when i try to go from idle to WOT. and i've pretty much nerrowed it down to that, it runs to perfect other wise.

I left my 200 dollar pair of oakleys on my ski one day after stapping them after day at lake. They now belong to the state of Texas highway lol.

Nope. I have a $4 floaty strap on my $19 glasses. So, If I loose them... I guess I'll be out $24.

Oh... wait... They are at least 12 years old... So I guess it won't mater since I need new ones.

Got the blacktip mats this season...they look great...easy install and the adhesive is incredible . Check it out

The mats look great. Just ordered a set this morning, in black (yellow XP).

Re: Sun glasses, they never showed up when I placed the order, so I EMailed Watercraft Superstore, and asked. They replied that they will pick out the glasses. So I guess maybe it's not such a great deal. We'll see.

Depends on the region.

In Pitt... it's worth between $1200 and $2k. I've seen clean 720 XP's sit for a few months for $1500. Honestly... I would remove the aftermarket flame arrestors... and put the stock one back on. If I was looking at your ski... that would be a negative to me, since the stock air box will flow more air than the stock engine can use... and most people don't properly re-tune with aftermarket flame arrestors.

If you can wait and find a 96 and up XP you'll get a 787 motor with 25 more hp. I bought a 96 XP in great mechanical shape, needs a little work on the cosmetics, for 1300.00 here in cent. KY. Really only needs a good buffing and wax, and it'll be almost perfect, I just haven't had the time. Don't want to interfere with ride time.
