i was curious because I think I have a good (untested) water controller and a solenoid sitting around from a bulk purchase I made, I have no need for them really, except as backups, you'd only need a sprayer and an afternoon and you'd be good to go, i'd let them go cheap if interested. (after I find them & dig them out of my crates of course.)

ok so here's a question for you x4 junkies . the limited storage space in the X4 drives me crazy, and my front storage is cut down a few inches to boot since I have the oversized tank in it, so i'm really limited.

I removed my vts a few months ago, so I have a big open space where the vts unit used to go, what do you guys think about building a small bracket mount for a small waterproof storage/tool box right in that big open spot ? I could build a bracket that will use the old holes for the vts bracket, and mount the box to the bracket for quick/easy removal.

Sound like a good idea ? or has anyone else found a good place to hide some tools besides shoving them in the bottom of the front storage.

my plan B was maybe to use a yami fire extinguisher tube and mount it somewhere on the inside of the hull.

Yeah I can relate. I think mounting a storage box in place of the vts would work great as long as it doesn't exceed the weight of the original vts, so it wouldn't over stress the mounts. But racerxxx got me thinking of mounting the fire extinguisher inside of the air baffle tube instead of the front bin? more storage/less weight up front?

One more thing, I was reading and seeing on other forums people saying that the stock fuel lines (the grey ones) are bad or something, what are they talking about and if there is something wrong with them does any one have any suggestions on replacement ones???

When they were put on these seadoos there wasnt ethanol in the fuel, that additive eats the lines from the inside, they will need to be changed asap, just do a search on them and you will find out all you need to know

Spim do you run the air baffle? Perhaps an under seat storage? Or in front of the tank?

yes I run the air baffle, (althought i'm not sure why the F I do lol) and i've thought about up front, but not that much room up there either AND its hard to access on the water w/o heading to shore since i'd have to remove the storage bin to get at stuff under there next to the fuel tank. so i'd rather have it under the seat so i could get to it as easy as possible.

There is one good reason to use a baffle....when water comes in thru the air intakes that the water is directed to the bottom of the hull.

It also quiets the engine noise going out the other direction.

It also delivers the incoming air to the bottom of the hull. I'm no marine engineer but I've noticed that the blower hoses on boats purposely do the same thing. This must better rid the area of any fumes.

ya this is true on my dads boat the blower goes right to the bottom of the boat i bet its for that reason

is this the x4 thread? or has it been taken over by ugly ol hx's?? anyhoo if it still is the x4 thread can someone shed some light on what years were actual x4s?? so far in this thread there was conflicting info, is a 94 xp the original hull or was it the 95 xp?? i have a 95 spx which was the same as a 94 xp and i was under the impression it was not an x4, i just want the facts set straight once and for all, thank you

X4's have removable trim tabs on the rear of the hull. They were sold from 95 to 99. The hidden X4 is the last year SP with the red and white scheme.

thanks matt, from what youve told me a 95 spx is not an x4 so i dont have to feel bad about the 580 i just stuck in it!

i looked at the model guide and the last year of the sp was the white/purple in 98, i didnt see a red/white, was the 98 sp an x4 and if so were any other sp' s x4s?
and on a side note i bet those hxs are a blast to ride especially with a 787 but im pretty sure seadoo r&d was going thru its awkward teenage stage;)

Yes I'm thinking then 97 SP maybe. I have not owned one but believe there is an SP X4 to be had somewhere in there.

whats everyone's thoughts about replacing the stock water control valve with a jetworks flow control valve and a separate line for the stinger?
It would keep the water box dryer at low speeds, supposedly making a faster holeshot :drool5:

If you wanna get rid of the water control valve you need to hard jet. This means putting jets in at the mid pipe and Waterbox and putting filters in those water lines and putting a flow control valve to regulate the water for the water box.
