If I can't get these orange streaks out, then the seat can't be salvaged as is. I may try to paint it, and if that doesn't turn out well, I can still cover it with a jettrim. I don't see many other options. Would like to keep it original.

Like I said before, I'd be interested in the seat cover. I'd rather have/save a stained original seat cover than see it painted or covered over. I have a near mint seat for my 95XP800 resto, not something that I would really want to ride on, so.......your seat cover on one of my other hump seats would work out. Since it's not mint and has some stains I wouldn't mind as much to ride on it, the dis-colorization doesn't bother me. Then I can keep my mint seat still mint and it will look good for years to come. I should have just pulled the trigger and bought the seat like I was gonna do, then I would have had 4 of them.

Question: Does the old seat cover have to be removed to install a jettrim cover?

Not really but if you were to cover it.............see above.

Cool, if you do remove it, CAREFULLY pull the staples. I lift one corner of the staples with a small thin screw driver and then use needle nose pliers to remove it all the way.

"who is the member here that has the ability to machine or duplicate parts"
I can. I think Racerxxx can also. I'm sure there are more

I want to duplicate it vs buying more because its very expensive !
$75 for a 3 inch hunk of metal... crushes my spirits!
I sent racerx a text this morning about it.

Slow. Building the weld fixtures now, pain in the .... I'm really burned out on this project for sure! I also rebuilt three 800 engines this winter. I did all the machine work on these too

Not too sure yet, picked it up late last night and ended up spending more time drinking with the guy than looking at the ski haha. I did check out the hood and its a yellow xp800 one but its been painted over at one point. It came with a 657X motor too :toetap05: I'll tear into it this weekend.

Currently leaning toward uninstalling the factory cover and putting on a jettrim. What would be a fair price to you for the factory cover?

I told you I'd give you a 3rd of what you paid for the seat. I think you paid 75. So 25 is my offer.
