Finally picked up this seat today and got the ugly, worn out seat cover off of it. Underneath is an original seadoo hump seat cover in pretty good shape. The "seadoo" letters on the side are fading and it is dirty, but I think it'll clean up nicely. Now trying to decide if I should use it as is, paint it black with SEM vinyl paint, or get a jettrim seat cover. Suggestions?View attachment 34415

The multi pattern design of the JetTrim doesn't really appeal to me. I prefer the smooth look and single color of the OEM. I'm sure the quality of it is excellent. But $160 for something I'm not even that crazy about doesn't seem like a great idea to me. It's still an option, just not my #1 option.Still not comparing apples to apples
If that's the case, and the general concensus here is that it will look like crap, then I won't do it of course. I trust the opinions of those on this forum. But, I don't want to not do it out of respect of the original cover. If I don't do it, it's because it wouldn't look good.I have one on a ski I picked up that was painted black . It looks like chit. But to each his own
These are getting harder and harder to find. Please don't ruin it. That one could easily look like mine or better
Steep in general. $160+ shipped when I paid $40 for my old seat cover and it's held up great over 3 years of riding.
Take it to a professional detailer. Not one of those mobile hacks, and not one with those tunnel washes (auto paint rapers). I bet they could get it out.If anyone has any tips on getting out that orange stain, please let me know. I've tried scrubbing hard with mr.clean magic erasers and stain removing spray, which did not get it out at all.

Yup, I hate seeing good stuff get molested. There's a 94xp near me with a hump painted black. Not only did the guy paint it he hacked the pan to clear the exhaust. Both stood offenses in my eyes.jesus, you guys really take your seat covers seriously. Y'all would hate me I would have already recovered it with a $60 blacktip and called it a day lol
Actually, I'm near Warsaw, IN, nick name lake city. Appreciate the tip, though. Unfortunately I've had no luck with these orange streaks. Tried soaking it in mildo remover, as well as a stain remover with oxy clean, along with scrubbing. I didn't even put a dent into that orange streak. Unfortunately it's not looking good for being able to get it out. Pretty sure it's something that bled off the old seat cover, as it follows the lines of it.hick, first question, are you in lake city FL ?
the orange stains possibly could be mold spores, try a bathroom foaming cleaner, don't let it sit too long and make sure you rinse it off a couple of times. I've had similar issues in the past and after trying everything in my garage I finally tried mildew remover and it literally wiped right off.
if your in LC Florida and decide to replace it I can put you in touch with a guy in Sarasota that does some nice custom work that you'll be pleased with both price & product. He has done about 6 seats for me and i've always been thrilled.
If I can't get these orange streaks out, then the seat can't be salvaged as is. I may try to paint it, and if that doesn't turn out well, I can still cover it with a jettrim. I don't see many other options. Would like to keep it original.Yup, I hate seeing good stuff get molested. There's a 94xp near me with a hump painted black.
