Great job man. Yeah it's tough against XPL's they cut through the chop and the X4 is always jumping. It's the downside of being light(and flat) I guess.

Funny story, last yr I sent kids to pick up 96 on a twin trailer @900 bucks. Got it home , opened seat, fresh SBT mtr , FP Spec 2, air filters, trim tabs, Solas new prop. Just about fell on the ground. Beat that thing senseless all summer.

I forgot about putting this picture up. I was at Fischetti's place about a month ago and he gave me the grand tour, go into his computer/living room area and bam hes got a fully built X4 up on top of the wall.

I told him if he ever wants to sell it to let me know and he said everythings for sale but I didnt get a price out of him for it. Still pretty sweet to have an old race ski up above your computer table, haha. Thought some of you fellow X4 nuts might get a kick out of it. Fischetti's a real cool dude, he still has so much enthusiasm and excitement for the sport, its fun to just hang out with him and listen to him ramble on and tell stories for hours at a time.

I just came across a 96xp that has 4 hole worx spons on it. They look like the XPL ones. Anyone here ever ran them before?

Yes I've sold them multiple times. They were Odyssey sponsons and WorX bought them. They had 1, 2, and 4 hole versions. I still have a couple pair of the 2 hole ones.

Ok cool, they look like they would perform well. Ever tried them? I bought the ski, here's a pic of them.

Anyone recognize the ski? It came with some extra parts that came from westside powersports

They feel good in turns but only when your trimmed all the way up. Those were sold as the "pro" version but they require that you drill an additional hole in the hull. They are the ticket on my GSX but not my favorite on a X4. They made a three hole sponson with 4 different adjustment options, I thought that was what you meant by 4 hole.

What does that ski have for carbs? Is our trade still on?

Interesting, so these were actually made for X4 Hulls? The 4th hole made me think they were made for another ski. I'll have to give these hell one weekend and try em out.

Deal is still on! Ill try to mail it out next week. I can't seem to get away from work and the wife this time of year
Nice score. Already got the steering and all. Any other mods

Looks like mostly handling mods so far. Carbs have open air filters on it but carbs look stock

I have a set of 4 hole beach house that line up directly with stock GSX hull.

3 of the 4 holes line up perfectly on the X4

Yeah They sell those sponsons for the X4 but it's not my choice. My ride buddy bought them brand new(almost $300!) and I installed them for him. I hated drilling that extra hole into his minty yellow hull. We ride rivers and he likes them but is always trimmed all the way up. He has regular R&D trim tabs also.

I agree that you should try them but if you don't love them then go with a set that bolts right to an X4.

My experience on sponsons , having built at least 50 sets of these the in X4's, is there is a very fine line between agressive handling and scrubbing top speed. Long sponsons will loose 2mph. Deep sponsons loose 2mph ( IJSBA legal is 1.5 deep ) upside is boat turns like Formula one. Personally, after 20 years, I found trick. Sponsons need to be tipped out ward 15 to 20 degrees. Think about leaning boat into corner? Is inside sponson " biting " water or cutting through as a knife edge?uploadfromtaptalk1451136896426.jpg

20 bucks in materials, a table saw and you guys can build your own sponsons.. its kind of fun to play with. Btw.... For future reference clear plexi glass acrylic sponsons looked super cool, but broke off turn #3. (:

when you mean tipped out ward do you mean the bottom of the sponson out farther from the hull and the top closer to the hull? Kinda like this /

Yes GLS. absolutely. I buy 3/4 thick umhw plastic. Cut 1.5 wide. Run thru table saw on end at 20 degree angle. Thats backing plate to sponson. F***ing nerve racking dangerous. Pics on my Greenhulk page 951 x4 different spin. Everyone wants me to build the sponsons but it's not worth the stress in the loss of fingertips. Haha

Awsome. I just pick up the stuff, I'm a wood worker lol I understand cut like that ha. Thanks for the info by the way!

^^^^^And this is why God invented the CNC. It's nice to be able to count to 10 without having to take off your shoes and socks.
