If you are part of the Seadoo owners page on FB you may have seen that I picked up a 98 SPX about a month ago. Supposedly ready to roll....needed EVERYTHING. Well here is the outcome....

And if that wasnt enough...here is a 787X motor I just finally got back together. Its got the original cylinders at original bore, with new OEM pistons, all OEM seals/gaskets, New oem bearings on the CB and RV. This is all original 100% 95 787x parts, I didnt have to swap out anything (Dan should love that!!) The motor had two bearings on the mag end rusty, my crank guy replaced those and gave the rest of the crank a good bill of health.

I might be coaxed into selling it....I do still have the machine it came out of but its not perfect like I would like to have it to justify a restore. Hell if someone wants to buy the whole setup and do it the way it should considering how hard it is to find a numbers matching 95 XP 787x machine I'd love to sell it to a good home.

And last but not least...I am FINALLY putting together my 920 miller boat. Cannot wait to fire this puppy up next week. Going in my black hull. Brand spanking new Novi 46s, port matched intake, brand new flywheel, brand new OEM starter....stay tuned!

Nick, just out of curiosity, do you have any pics of that 95 XP800 that's too crusty to resurrect?

I dont currently. Its not all that crusty, its just the seat has some staining, some of the decals are messed up....its really good for a survivor. I just dont know if its worth my time considering most people dont understand how rare it is here locally. I want it to go to the right hands.

Is there a way to easily tell or check if your trim tabs are 0 or 3 degree version? One of my 96s came with R&D trim tabs and ride plate extension, trying to figure out which ones they are.

Ruler or anything perfectly flat and straight. If there's a gap it's 3 degrees. If not.. Well it's not. lol

I should have thought about that myself other than hoping there was a part number hidden somewhere or machining marks. They arent completely flush with the hull so its not as easy to tell but they appear parallel to the straight edge held on the hull so probably 0 degree tabs.

I was thinking about loosening my stock tabs and laying a wire across the rear end of them, to bring the rear up and give it the same effect as a 3deg tab. Anyone heard of that before? I don't like how my bow hops all the time.

I have seen a lot of tab wedges both aftermarket and homemade. If you put something under the rear of the tabs between the tabs and hull it will push the nose down a little. This will help with porpoising but may rub off a little top speed. The 3 degrees is in the other direction on R&D tabs meaning that they are slightly lifted toward the rear. This allows extended tabs to smooth out the ride without loosing mph.

So they protrude past the edge of the hull?

Yes they extend out past the end of the hull.

Ahhh, Thanks Tonka. Was hoping you had a better hook-up than that locally. FYI, when Zoro has its flash sale you can get the 1/2" for 1.40/ft, 3/8" for 1.25/ft, and the 1/4" for about .90/ft if you need more in the future. It's the good silicone hose made by Flextech that's rated up to 350 degrees.
