So I had the intention of thinning out the herd this week but instead bid $250 on this and ended up winning for $248.50 lol.

Guess I'll be visiting friends in MD this weekend to make it worthwhile. Looks like bad crank seals but otherwise not bad even after $100 in gas to go get it.

Thanks! Hope I got lucky and it's in good shape. I re-read the description 10 times after I won thinking I missed some major issue. I guess it's just getting late in the season and they aren't bringing much

Gas is getting cheap in my neck of the woods should be sub $2.00 soon. Thanks O'bama.

Yeah I'm actually putting a hitch on my TL to go get this one. 6 hour drive but will visit friends who have a beach house an hour or so from the ski. I figure my TL gets 15 mpg better than my truck, so pays for more than half the hitch in fuel savings alone.

I'll keep you in mind. I have 2 other x-4s that are runners but in poor cosmetic shape. I'll likely part them or sell in the next few weeks. Also will be selling the HX as I just don't want to store them all.

There you go! My diesel jetta pulls all my skis with no issues. I got 30-32 mpg on my drive down to the keys with my 97 gti behind us. I think more people can do this and just don't know about it.

You just need a deep ramp with a car I have to put my rear wheels in the water some places I go. No way it would happen with a car

Yeah I had an old accord before and I didn't care if that got wet at the ramp. Sold that and bought a truck. I only have 20k on the TL so that one won't be used to tow to the lake.

Regarding cosmetics, have you tried buffing the hulls with fiberglass restore compound? It worked like magic on my old chalky hulls. I wish I knew about it sooner

I have everything to do it (3 grits of meguiars and a HF buffer) but I just don't have time to do them this year. just got back from a houseboat vacation in lake cumberland that yielded a blown engine in my 00 XPL and a stripped outdrive in the boat. Needless to say I have plenty of other projects coming. I'm hoping this new XP is better cosmetically and I can make a nice ski out of 2 of them with less work.

I really didn't need this new xp and kinda regret it even though it's a good deal. Never thought I'd win with a 250 bid [emoji12].

Just an FYI, damn I love going through this thread checking out all the x4's in it!

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Installed a finger throttle on my x4 last week. I recently injured my thumb with my x4 and also broke one of the tabs on the thumb lever. That's when I remembered that my 04 GTX that I cannibalized to build my 4tec boat came with a finger throttle. Well now I'm trying to get used to the finger throttle, and must admit, I'm not sure I'll be keeping it. After 14 years of riding with the thumb lever, having to rework the brain is proving to be dangerous. I'll forget and either floor it or let off at the wrong times and strange scary things happen. While it has almost ruined my swim shorts, I did finally (accidentally) manage a full 360 :hurray: Also, the throttle doesn't seem to give enough slack to allow the butterfly to fully close. My idle RPMs are at 2500 now lol.

Just picked up my eBay special in MD and headed home. I'll make a separate thread once home as I know ppl enjoy the stories behind these aquisitions :-).

It does fire right up and I can see some goodies from R&D!!

Any recommendations regarding using a skat pump for a 787 in a 951 conversion on an xp? I just dropped off my ride plate to be machined to accept a 155mm 951 pump and the machine time, from what im told, will cost me the same amount as a used skat for a 787. I am unfamiliar with these set ups so additional info would be awesome. Thanks!

I was the opposite since I grew up on a yammi. So happy to be back to a finger throttle.

anybody looking for a single gauge hood ?
sorry I can post pic's later, it will need prepped & painted, and the seadoo raised lettering is still visible.
PM if interested, with a bulky box, shipping is always interesting so shoot me a zip code as well.
