Replacing the choke

I probably did!

Hell, I probably did. I seem to be really good at hi-jacking threads.........I didn't even know what it meant till I saw the expanation somewhere.......Oh well, it makes it fun anyway!...........

Not sure if I should start a new thread or resurrect the older one???

If starting fluid is bad because it has no lubricant for he cylinder, how is fuel from a primer any different? The fuel in the gas tank has not been premixed (well, mine has, minimally, at 80:1, but most fuel tanks are not).

So it seems like running a primer instead of starting fluid, in most situations, is not much better...

What is the logic that makes primered fuel better than starting fluid?

You have a good point Scott. It should be ok for you as you premix 80:1 and once started you have a good ratio with your injection and your pre mix together. I do agee it probly would not be smart for 2 cycles that do not preemix. :agree:

starter fluid

Way late on response, just picked up on this thread. STARTER FLUID IS BAD. It is way worse than a shot of gas with no lube. It actually will strip the lubrication off your bearings and cylindar walls. Gas with no lube will just vaporize and pass through and is not bad unless you are running on it long enough for the oil coatings to be wiped off naturally.

On the other subject, a choke will allow you to pull enough gas into the barrel to fire when the engine speed is not high enough to do it otherwise; when starting. It is a piss poor way to fill the carb when it has been sitting a while. A primer bulb will do this efficiently. Some of you are talking about a primer bulb to inject directly into the barrel which is a whole level of difficulty higher to accomplish, but would be like an accelerator pump which cars have and Mikuni's do not. Problem here is it would be very easy to flood.
