97 GTS won’t run

Well, all I have left is trying that test from the manual to test the check valves and it would suck but making sure the right pilot jet is in there, and again when spraying cleaner in the pilot circuit you should be able to see it flow out the small holes in the carb throat,

Some other info about this ski is that I have it running with both premix and oil injection because I saw that the oil injectors can fail and to maybe run with both to make sure it doesn't lock up the engine. I don't know if that could affect the engine's ability to run any other way. I can keep it running by pulling the choke when it's about to die but it can't run without it. My carb is fully rebuilt with only genuine Mikuni parts and my pop off is good. I rebuilt this entire engine because it was previously locked up. I never did a leak down test when I rebuilt it. Its now in the ski but it hasn't been aligned so the driveshaft and pump are not installed yet. The carb has also been soaked in parts cleaner twice, sprayed out with carb cleaner and compressed air. I have not had a look into the electrical system at all as everything electrical seems to function besides my gas gauge which is the only gauge this ski has.

When I was attempting to get this to run it wouldn't until I turned the idle screw in further, but it still needs choke to run.

If you are having to keep it running with the choke then you are not getting enough gas or too much air in normal operating mode... Did you do a leak test on carbs? also check the gasket between carb and intake, make sure it is on and tight.

Yes I did a leak test and it was perfect. I’ll check the gasket but it’s brand new and I’m pretty sure it’s down tight enough. Is there a way to check for air leaks like this? I’ve heard of people spraying like soapy water so it bubbles or wd-40 and if it’s leaking it’ll rev up.

If it had an air leak anywhere beyond the carb in the intake system you would typically have hard starting and a runaway where the engine goes to full rpm out of control.
Seeing you have to pull the choke you are lean so it is fuel starvation from something.
If you are running premix more than 50:1 and oil injection you are going to smoke like crazy and foul plugs but it still should not needed the choke to run.

So what would you suggest next? Take off the carb again?

I would run a fuel line from the carb directly to a fuel source and see if that changes anything.

One thing to try is spray a little carb cleaner/brake cleaner around the intake mount to see if you get a raise in rpm, just make sure it isn't near the carb opening. It isn't good for the motor though, no oils in fluid, so don't do it much. You can also use a smoke machine but that is harder to get.
and the motor has to be running

are your hoses good, gas line could be partially blocked or collapsing?
