Yeah I'm glad you posted that video. I agree that crank is too tired to go building an engine on top of.

I have OEM .025 over pistons for 75 shipped each if you want to do it yourself. I agree that Dan at fullbore is a good dude with a great rep.

Yes the Challenger. At least Seadoo named it right.

Really do appreciate the offer for the Pistons. If I was going to do it myself I would definitely buy them.

I'm thinking that maybe one of the differences between the two engines they rebuild is Pistons. Thanking maybe Ones cast and the others forged. Any insight on which way I should go if that's the case? I'm looking for long-term not racing. Pretty sure I read something about one needing to warm up over the other.

Also wondering if the pieces missing are going to be a problem? I have my other jugs but would have to look at. I do know they had been oversized. Can't remember how much right off. They may have been maxed. I think they had some similar spots missing as well.

This is from the engine I actually pulled out the boat originally. Jug's look to be in better condition BUT 1.00 in top of Pistons. That's probably going to cause a problem with the Rave valves as well. I didn't get them with the second engine I bought. Not even thinking I was just going to send the ones from the original engine in. Guessing if it was done that they're going to be oversized too much.

Who are you going to have do the engine?

The only difference between the SBT ones is the warranty, nothing is physically different between the two.

For fullbore I would pay the extra for Pro-X pistons over the standard WSM, both are cast as are oem. No good reason for forged.

I'm having Fullbore do it. They offer two different build options. Warranted looks to be the same with Fullbore no matter which build you choose. I am planning on going with the better build.

Fullbore's "top" build comes with Wossner pistons instead of the WSM.

Went to their site on the desktop and looked instead of being on phone. That sometimes makes a difference.

Well it's being shipped out to Fullbore!! Actually had to speak with Dan. My questions were a little technical for the nice lady answering the phone. Sending in the jugs that's already been bored off the original engine. Build doesn't include the rotary valve I found out.

I have really high hopes for this. I want this thing reliable! End of June ETA for return. That's if they don't have problems and get backed up on the other builds. We shall see.

End of June? Wow. That is a good chunk of summer gone.
There really isn't anything that bad about SBT if you want it faster. I have installed a few for friends and they are still going years later.

Wossner pistons are forged, like Wisecos , in the middle for a quality piston I'd pick Pro X.

You really wouldn't need a forged piston, I run Wiseco's but only because I found them NOS closeout really cheap. Warm up on them is about long enough idling out the no wake zone after lauching.

I agree with GGuilot, there is no reason to spend the money on the forged wosner. Just go with the Pro-X as they are one of the best pistons out there for your application.

With forged not only do you need to let them warm up a little more but they need more setup clearance, for a recreation engine it isn't worth the trouble.

I am more so paying for peace of mind. The extra 90 couple dollars is not only the Pistons but warranty. Supposably with what I got it's 2 years no fault. He said some other Pistons to due to the bore size. Was talking he can go 1.50 to 2.00 over! Numbers?? Could possibly get re-sleeved as well. Of course he's got to look at it. I have a question. Bigger cylinder = more fuel? My carb setting are high 0, low 1. Would I want to start a little more on the low? Maybe like 1 1/8?

Warm-ups definitely not going to be a problem where I put in. It's actually ridiculous, but I camp there as well. May have to find somewhere else 2 launch while braking in.

Dan Fairchild does the work at Fullbore, top notch, good reputation behind his work. He's done 2 sets of cylinders for me, last one I just got back this past Monday. Mine took about 3 weeks, he's a little backed up but will get to it, right now the season is upon us and they're getting flooded with orders.

Good choice, you won't be disappointed, many happy customers.
Yeah won't be disappointed huh? Here comes the pissed Dan off and get your engine sent back not finished. Engine return date end of June if not behind. Well okay you got a little behind. 1 friendly call and email with no response. We'll see. That's one call two weeks past date and a email three weeks past date with no response.Screenshot_20190801-004207.png

Spring-Summer is a bad time for all these builders and is their busy season so it sucks you got caught in that.
The only guaranteed fast turnaround is a SBT exchange.

I just take someone at their word. A man's word is his bond. Honestly I didn't expect it on the date quoted. With that being said some type of response would be nice. Another 24 hrs no response. I don't know but I don't have hundred dollar bills sitting beside my toilet. That's a lot of money for us. As a matter of fact I cashed in all three weeks of my vacation to do this!! Also paid for the premium no-fault warranty. So I get the engine back December if ever.. let's say I have a bad crank bearing. No fault of the wonderful man of his word builder. So I guess you're down another whole season waiting to get that back. Guess people need to go with SBT's engine. Just went back and looked that my post of where I was so excited that I chose them (Fullbore). Idk even what to think.

So, I ran into the same thing with a customer. I sent the guys engine in in April, got it in October. Too late for a break in. Never physically started the engine until May the following year. So, they ate warranty from my customer which sucks. I told the guy I'd build it but no warranty, he wanted the warranty. Then later said I should have just let you build it after he missed the entire season. So the moral of the story, if you get it back at the end of your season try and get them to start the warranty from next season. Doubtful but your basically not getting the advertised warranty. I will say the guys engine has been great. I have to make sure this 70 something year old customer gets back to the dock every time, I'd feel bad if the engine lunched.

Well at least I got a response. Hopefully the end of August. MAY be able to break in and run a couple of times. That's pushing the season here. Trying to find break-in procedure in the manual. I got to be over looking it.

Break in is premix at 50:1 in addition to the oil injection.

First half of a tank of gas don’t go more than 1/4 throttle vary the rpm, no fast acceleration or constant speed and run for 25 minutes and cool for 15 minutes for the entire half tank. For the next half tank exactly the same but up to half throttle.

Next full tank up to 3/4 throttle but you don’t need the heat cycling 15 minutes any more.
Final half tank you can briefly go full throttle but never hold it WOT.

No more premix and break in is done.

Dan seems to have this problem doing full engine builds during peak season, couple people I know on the FB forum have called him out on it. Dan is one of the moderators on there, so he's trying to keep a good reputation with over 5k members.

He tends to prioritize the quick money during peak season which is mostly cylinder rebores. Bad time is Spring/Summer everywhere unless you choose SBT.
